Lula Reed, a homemaker, died Monday at her home. She was 84. Mrs. Reed was born in Brookhaven, Miss., and lived in Metairie for the past eight years. She was a graduate of Alexander High School and a member of Hickory Knoll Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Strander of Mobile, Ala., and Deborah Norah; two sisters, Josephine Peters of New Orleans and Mary C. Sanders of Brookhaven; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, 11112 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Carver Heights cemetery.
PRADOS, MARVIN ANTHONY SR.

Marvin Anthony Prados Sr., a merchant seaman welder, died Tuesday of cancer at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 57. Mr. Prados was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended Joseph S. Clark High School. He served in the Army. Survivors include a son, Marvin Anthony Prados Jr.; a daughter, Marlene Ruth Bellamy; two brothers, Kenneth and Ferdinand Prados Jr.; five sisters, Antoinette Jones, Cornell Goudeau, Myrna Patterson, Delores Dugas and Vanessa Miller; and seven grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at Boissiere-Labat Family Funeral Service, 1703 N. Claiborne Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Holt cemetery.

Melvin Allen Nolan, a retired electrician, died Monday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 75. Mr. Nolan was born in Franklinton and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He worked for New Orleans Public Service Inc. for 37 years. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Irene Nolan; two sons, Melvin and Thomas Nolan; a daughter, Geraldine Anderson; two sisters, Tommie Lee Nolan of Chicago and Lucille Morris of Memphis; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1716 N. Claiborne Ave. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park.

Sydney Alyssa Murray died Wednesday in an accidental drowning at her home. She was 2. Sydney was born in Covington, was a former resident of Slidell and lived in Bush. Survivors include her mother, Stacey Ann O'Brien Murray; her father, Gerald Joseph Murray; a brother, Nathaniel Joseph Murray; three sisters, Rebecca Lynn Murray of Little Rock, Ark., Aimee Joyce Ezell of Slidell and Kayla Michelle White; and her grandparents, Edrith Mitternight, Robert O'Brien, Hilton Lloyd and Susan Lloyd. A funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.

James H. McMorris, a retired entrepreneur, died Monday of congestive heart failure at Memorial Medical Center. He was 67. Mr. McMorris was born in Woodville, Miss., and lived in New Orleans the past four years. He was the owner of McMorris Grocery Store in Woodville. He was a deacon at Hopewell A.M.E. Church in Woodville. Survivors include a son, James Tarvis McMorris of Weyanoke; a daughter, Melissa McMorris of Woodville; a brother, Herman McMorris; two sisters, Catherine Stokes of Chicago and Lovie Richardson McMorris; and six grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Hopewell A.M.E. Church. Visitation will be today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Littlejohn Funeral Home, 2163 Aubry St., and Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Free Spring Baptist Church cemetery in Doloroso, Miss.

Harold McKee Sr. died Monday of complications from diabetes at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was 59. Mr. McKee was a lifelong resident of Picayune, Miss. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include a son, Harold McKee Jr.; four daughters, Tammy McKee of Gulfport, Miss., and Bonita Wynn, Cynthia McKee and Trenda Faciane; a brother, the Rev. Wilfred McKee Jr.; three sisters, Ida Dean Smith of New Orleans, Carolyn McKnight of Slidell and Shirley Pollard; and 15 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at East Jerusalem Baptist Church in Picayune. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in Picayune cemetery. Sandra Johnson Martin, a secretary at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside Hotel, died Monday of respiratory failure at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 36. Mrs. Martin was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past six years. She was a member of Second Morning Star Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Beautifying Club. Survivors include her husband, James Martin Jr.; a son, Jared Christopher Martin; two stepsons, James and Calvin Randolph; her mother, Rosie Porche; her stepfather, Albert Porche Sr.; a brother, Malcolm Johnson; and her grandmother, Mary Moore. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Second Morning Star Baptist Church, 2616 St. Andrew St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. D.W. Edna Belisa Lopez, a medical technologist, died Monday of respiratory failure at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 81. Miss Lopez was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and lived in Metairie for the past 38 years. She worked at Ochsner Foundation Hospital for 44 years and Touro Infirmary for 25 years. A graveside service will be held today at 10 a.m. at Metairie cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Professional Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
