MONTGOMERY, SAMUEL LEE ‘WHITLOCK'
May 25, 2001

Samuel Lee "Whitlock" Montgomery, an iceman, died Tuesday of cancer at Memorial Medical Center. He was 54. Mr. Montgomery was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Walter L. Cohen Senior High School. He was a member of Petty A.M.E. Zion Church. Survivors include four brothers, Milton, Alex, James and Wilmer Austin; and a sister, Gloria Bagley. A funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Petty A.M.E. Zion Church, 2800 Milan St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Tilly's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PHILLIPS, INEZ NUGENT
May 25, 2001

Inez Nugent Phillips, a retired registered nurse, died Thursday at her home. She was 84. Mrs. Phillips was born in Tioga, lived in New Orleans for 43 years and in Mandeville for the past 22 years. She graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria and Charity School of Nursing. She retired from Charity Hospital after 29 years. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Phillips Cottier; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie. Burial will be in Restlawn cemetery, Avondale.

SELLERS, MARJORIE JANE
May 25, 2001

Marjorie Jane Sellers, a homemaker, died May 13 of cancer at her home in Garland, Texas. She was 69. Mrs. Sellers was born in Wink, Texas, and lived in Garland. Survivors include four sons, Ricky Allen Monroe of Dallas, Mitch John Sellers of Carencro, Texas, Hicks W. Sellers III of New Orleans and Parrish R. Sellers of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Janet Marie Jackson of Slidell and Michele Sellers Benjamin of Dallas; three brothers, Joseph Anthony Delorio Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif., Arthur Phillip Delorio of Biloxi, Miss., and Raymond Victor Delorio of Amarillo, Texas; and four sisters, Mildred Hale Maloney of Centralia, Wash., Mary Ann and Betty Mae Morrison, both of Garland, and Judy Ann Hummel of Boerne, Texas. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lake Lawn Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Restland Funeral Home of Dallas is in charge of arrangements.

SOLOMON, NETTIE TAYLOR
May 25, 2001

Nettie Taylor Solomon, a homemaker, died Monday of heart failure at Meadowcrest Hospital. She was 64. Mrs. Solomon was born in New Orleans and lived in Gretna. She was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Wilbert A. Solomon Sr.; two sons, Allen and Wilbert Solomon Jr.; three daughters Ellen V. Major, Sibyl Well and Lucinda Beverly; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 421 Wiltz Lane in Algiers. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Davis Mortuary Service is in charge of arrangements.

STYLES, ERVIN JR.
May 25, 2001

Ervin Styles Jr., a construction worker, died Saturday of heart failure at a friend's home. He was 47. Mr. Styles was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He worked for the Saenger Theater and Lake Lawn Cemeteries. Survivors include his wife, Theresa McCoy; two sons, Glen and Ervin Styles III; a daughter, Takeisha Styles; three brothers, Robert Lee Taylor and Walter and Henry Styles; two sisters, Lois and Doretha Styles; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Littlejohn's Funeral Home, 7818 Earhart Blvd. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

WAGNER, JOSEPHINE ASTA
May 25, 2001

Josephine Asta Wagner, a homemaker, died Wednesday at Chateau Living Center. She was 90. Mrs. Wagner was born in Port Barreand and lived in Kenner for 32 years. Survivors include two sons, Nicholas B. Wagner of Picayune Miss., and Clifford S. Wagner of Poplarville, Miss.; three daughters, Josie Gianelloni and Eileen Gianelloni, both of Metairie, and Joyce Fabre; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Mass will be said Saturday at 1 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn cemetery.

WAGNER, LOUIS FRANK
May 25, 2001

Louis Frank Wagner, founder of Wagner Marine Supply, died Tuesday at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was 95. Mr. Wagner was born in New Orleans and lived in Covington for the past two years. He graduated from Rugby Academy. He started Wagner Marine Supply in 1939 and ran the business with other family members until 1963. Mr. Wagner served in the Navy during World War II, inspecting P.T. boats. He was a member of the New Orleans Power Boat Association. Survivors include his wife Leila Mae Cornay Wagner; a son, Warren Wagner; a daughter, Faye Wagner; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 1414 S. Tyler St., Covington. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Burial will be private.

September 27, 2002

Royal Cooks Sr., a vendor with Long Leaf Cigarette Co., died Monday of cancer at Memorial Medical Center. He was 65. Mr. Cooks was born in Labadieville and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Hattie Cryer Cooks; three sons, Rodney, Reginald and Royal Cooks Jr.; a daughter, Lovell Taylor; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 1610 Lapeyrouse St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.

BELONGA, KEVIN JERONE
September 27, 2002

Kevin Jerone Belonga, a part-time custodian and security guard, died Sept. 16 of undetermined causes at his home. He was 27. Mr. Belonga was born in Los Angeles and lived in New Orleans for the past 26 years. He attended St. Augustine High School, graduated from Word of Faith Academy and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. He was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Survivors include his father, Isaac J. Belonga; his mother, Jeanmarie B. Belonga; a brother, Kenneth Belonga; and his grandparents, Maire Jones and Celestine Belonga. A Mass will be said Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Tilly's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CROWELL, ADOLPH H.
September 27, 2002

Adolph H. Crowell, a retired employee of Jax Brewery, died Tuesday of complications from surgery at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 84. Mr. Crowell was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 45 years. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a deacon at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church for 17 years and was a mason for 55 years. Survivors include his wife, Madilyn D. Crowell; two daughters, Barbara C. Sweet and Juanita C. Suggs; a sister, Ruth Johnson of Squim, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park cemetery.

FITZGERALD, ALICE ANN WOODS
September 27, 2002

Alice Ann Woods Fitzgerald, a retired medical records librarian, died Monday of Alzheimer's disease at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Slidell. She was 75. Mrs. Fitzgerald was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Slidell for the past three years. She graduated from Phoenix College in Phoenix. Survivors include two sons, Bartholomew and Matthew Fitzgerald; a brother, John Woods; and six grandchildren. A Mass will be said Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Road in Chalmette. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HOGAN, SHIRLEY LOUP
September 27, 2002

Shirley Loup Hogan, a homemaker, died Tuesday of cancer at West Jefferson Medical Center. She was 61. Mrs. Hogan was a lifelong resident of Westwego. She was a member of Westwego Civic Association. Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Hogan; three sons, Louis Lee Sr., Ricky Lee Sr. and Carl A. Lee; a daughter, Connie Lee Blanchard; a stepson, Kevin Hogan; two stepdaughters, Charlene Guidry and Wendy Romano; her mother, Lucille Boudreaux Loup; two sisters, Rose Vegas and Catherine Loup; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor cemetery.
