HOUSTON, CAROLYN MOSES
September 27, 2002

Carolyn Moses Houston, a retired hotel supervisor, died Sunday at her home. She was 75. Mrs. Houston was born in Lumberton, Miss., and lived in Gulfport, Miss., for many years before moving to New Orleans. She retired as supervisor of laundry services after 42 years with the Fairmont Hotel. Survivors include her companion, Ernest McClendon. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church No. 2, 2601 Jackson Ave. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Garden cemetery in Gulfport. Hartwell Christian Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

HUDSON, BOBBIE LEE
September 27, 2002

Bobbie Lee Hudson, a retired Jefferson Parish teacher, died Sept. 17 of heart failure at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 70. Mrs. Hudson was born in Palestine, Texas, and lived in Jefferson Parish for many years before retiring to Emerald Bay, Texas. She graduated from Whitehouse High School in Texas, received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Houston and a master's degree in education from Tulane University. She taught English in Texas and Louisiana schools for many years, finishing her career at East Jefferson High School. Survivors include her companion, Vincent Rodriguez of Metairie; two sons, Michael Hudson of Palestine and Robert D. Franks of Greers Ferry, Ark.; a daughter, Donna Leigh Morris of Loranger; a sister, Dorothy Ingram of Bullard, Texas; and eight grandchildren. A funeral was held Saturday at Herrington Land of Memory Chapel in Palestine. Burial was in Land of Memory cemetery in Palestine.

JONES, EDWARD ROBERT SR.
September 27, 2002

Edward Robert Jones Sr., a driver for Domino's Pizza, died Tuesday of complications from a stroke at Woodland Village in Algiers. He was 57. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Algiers. He graduated from L.B. Landry High School. He was a member of DeGaulle Drive Church of Christ and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kay Jones; two sons, Edward Robert Jones Jr. and Robert Eugene Jones; four daughters, Cheri Kay Thalheimer of Picayune, Miss., Teresa Renee Frazzell and Yvette Ann James, both of Gretna, and Michelle Denise LeBlanc of Barataria; two brothers, David and Nicholas Jones; two sisters, Elvira Lewis and Helen Green; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at DeGaulle Drive Church of Christ, 4700 Gen. DeGaulle Dr., Algiers.

KAUFMAN, ROSE AUTERI
September 27, 2002

Rose Auteri Kaufman, a homemaker, died Wednesday at Chalmette Medical Center. She was 86. Mrs. Kaufman was born in New Orleans and lived in Chalmette for the past 42 years. She was a member of AARP Chapter 4420. Survivors include a son, Steven A. Kaufman; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

KIRKLIN, ISADORE ‘THE MUSTARD GREEN MAN' SR.
September 27, 2002

Isadore "The Mustard Green Man" Kirklin Sr., a farmer, died Monday at River Parishes Hospital. He was 96. Mr. Kirklin was a lifelong resident of Paulina. Survivors include six sons, Isadore Kirklin Jr., Murphy Kirklin Sr. and Lionel, Melvin, Stanley and Ronald Kirklin; three daughters, Dorothy Barney, Jeannie Gaines and Patricia Long; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A wake will be held today at 8 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, 3762 Louisiana 44 in Paulina. A dismissal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery. Hobson Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

NEYLAND, TULA DUCOTE
September 27, 2002

Tula Ducote Neyland, a homemaker, died Tuesday at Chalmette Medical Center. She was 86. Mrs. Neyland was born in Cottonport and lived in St. Bernard Parish for the past 34 years. Survivors include her husband, Richard "Moon" Neyland Sr.; a son, Richard Neyland Jr.; two daughters, Ella Mae Caviness and Janice Chatelain; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

WALLACE, ISHMEL SR.
September 27, 2002

Ishmel Wallace Sr., a retired laborer, died Saturday at Memorial Medical Center. He was 81. Mr. Wallace was born in Central and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include three sons, James Pierre, Morris and Ishmel Wallace Jr.; nine daughters, Terry Cannon Wallace of Houston, Julie Porter and Barbara Patterson of Los Angeles and Savannah Johnpire, Angelina Wallace, Paulette Wallace Kagler, Claudette W. Foster, Yolanda Porter and Linda King; a brother, Samuel LeBlanc; 50 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Willing Workers Baptist Church, 2715 Washington Ave. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WILEY, WILLIAM M.
September 27, 2002

William M. Wiley, owner and operator of Water King of the South, died Sept. 7 of cancer at his home. He was 63. Mr. Wiley was born in Memphis, Tenn., and lived in Metairie for 40 years. He was a former regional manager for Cessna Aircraft Co. He was a civic activist, serving as chairman of the Neighborhood Watch program and president of the Pontchartrain Shores Civic Association. He was a founding member of Victims and Citizens Against Crime and founder of the first private security patrol in Pontchartrain Shores. He was an Air Force veteran and a parishioner of St. Ann's Church in Metairie. Survivors include his wife, Marie Ramsey Wiley; a son, William Mark Wiley of Memphis; a daughter, Catherine Marie Wiley; a sister, Sandra Wiley Grace of Oakland, Tenn.; and two grandchildren. A graveside service was held Sept. 11 at Memory Hill Gardens in Memphis. A memorial was held Sept. 17 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Metairie.

WILLIAMS, ETHEL MAE
September 27, 2002

Ethel Mae Williams, a homemaker, died Sept. 20 of complications from cancer at Kenner Regional Medical Center. She was 64. Ms. Williams was born in Newburn, Ala., and lived in Kenner for the past 37 years. She attended Hale County Training School. She was a certified nursing assistant and private sitter. Survivors include four daughters, Kendall and Samantha Williams and Katrina and Chanel Davis; two stepdaughters, Stacey Eugene and Bridget Davis; her father, Williams Quarrles; her mother, Roselle Diggins; and seven grandchildren. A funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Oakland Baptist Church, 1400 Third St., Kenner. Visitation is at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Love and Charity cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WILSON, EARLINE B.
September 27, 2002

Earline B. Wilson, a retired seamstress for Reuter Rex, died Sept. 20 of complications from cancer at Memorial Medical Center. She was 73. Mrs. Wilson was born in Lettsworth and lived in New Orleans for the past 55 years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Triumph No. 1749. Survivors include three sons, Charles E., Frederick P. and Grady L. Wilson Jr.; three daughters, Alice R. Ricard, Mary L. Watson and Sharman W. Gilyot; a sister, Bessie B. Wilson; 26 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Amozion Baptist Church, 907 Deslonde St. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Tilly's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
