Noelie L. Cola, a retired nurse, died Wednesday at East Haven Nursing Home. She was 89. Mrs. Cola was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include two daughters, Rita Brisco and Inez Johnson; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 1610 Lapeyrouse St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

DANIEL, MARY LEE
December 2, 2001

Mary Lee Daniel, former owner of Bayou Instrument Sales, died Oct. 29 of undetermined causes at Brandonwild Pavillion in Evans, Ga. She was 74. Mrs. Daniel was born in Maryland, Ind., and lived in Lacombe before moving to Evans. She was a past member of the board of directors for St. Tammany Parish Hospital District No. 1, which oversees the administration of Slidell Memorial Hospital. She received the Small Business Owner of the Year Award from the Slidell Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Evans and directed the Lacombe Methodist Church choir for 14 years. Survivors include a son, Richard H. Daniel Jr. of Melbourne, Fla.; a daughter, Linda Sewel of Lacombe; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Toomer Memorial cemetery in Lacombe. Platt's Funeral Home in Evans is in charge of arrangements.

GEMEINHARDT, WALTER FRED
December 2, 2001

Walter Fred Gemeinhardt, a retired lawyer and first assistant U.S. attorney, died Friday at his home. He was 78. Mr. Gemeinhardt was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of Who's Who in American Law, the Louisiana Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Petroleum Club, the Oxford Club and a former commander of the New Orleans Power Squadron. Survivors include his wife, Aimee Rita Simon Gemeinhardt; and a sister, Vera Clair Carlson. A funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.

BAILEY, GEORGE WILLIAM SR.
December 2, 2001

George William Bailey Sr., a retired U.S. Postal Service worker, died Friday of lung disease at Hospice of San Antonio in Texas. He was 79. Mr. Bailey was born in Natchez, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for most of his life. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include three sons, Howard Anthony Bailey, George William Bailey Jr. and Donald Wayne Dunn; two daughters, Deanna Bailey Prado and Paula Dunn Perry; and seven grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Monday at 9:45 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National cemetery in San Antonio. Hillcrest Funeral Home in San Antonio is in charge of arrangements.

TAYLOR, ALVIN PETER ‘PETE' SR.
December 09, 2001

Alvin Peter "Pete" Taylor Sr., a retired truck driver, died Tuesday at Chateau Living Center. He was 77. Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was an Army veteran. He was a former employee of David Streiffer Co. Inc. He was a parishioner of St. David Catholic Church. Survivors include four sons, Randy Lee Sr., Alvin Taylor Everidge, and Vernon and Harold Taylor Sr.; a daughter, Shelia Warren; seven stepsons, Huey, Kevin and Lester Lee, and Ernest, Ronnie, Edward and Gerry Everidge; five stepdaughters, Vannassa Batiste, Celeste Lee Harrison, and Lurline, Gail and Joycelyn Everidge; a sister, Louise Harrison Mercadel; 43 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. David Catholic Church, 5617 St. Claude Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Tilly's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

DESTOR, MARY LOU REINE
December 09, 2001

Mary Lou Reine Destor, a homemaker, died Saturday of cancer at her home. She was 72. Mrs. Destor was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 43 years. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy. Survivors include her husband, Calvin Joseph Destor Sr.; a son, Calvin J. Destor Jr.; a daughter, Susan Mary Redden; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Monday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Mausoleum.

EGGLESTON, CHESTER ARKWRIGHT
December 09, 2001

Chester Arkwright Eggleston, a lawyer, died Tuesday of a heart attack at his home in Diamond. He was 67. Mr. Eggleston was born in Algiers and lived in Diamond and Metairie for most of his life. He graduated from Louisiana State University and LSU Law School. He was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association. Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary d'Amico Eggleston; a son, Clark Stephen Eggleston; two daughters, Linda Eggleston Trahan and Laura Eggleston Scardina; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Monday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery.

DeLEON, MARGARET FENNELLY
December 2, 2001

Margaret Fennelly DeLeon, a program director for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of the New Orleans Council on Aging, died Thursday of cancer at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. She was 55. Mrs. DeLeon was born in Liverpool, England, and lived in New Orleans for the past 25 years. She graduated from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Conn., where she was president of the International Relations Club, a delegate to the Model U.N. Conference and was chosen to be in Who's Who in American Colleges. She was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, where she was a lector, Eucharistic minister, head of the Liturgy Committee and coordinator of the monthly youth Mass. She also was involved with the formation program for the permanent deacons for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She was a VISTA volunteer in West Texas in 1968. Survivors include her husband, Ildefonso R. "Poncho" DeLeon; two sons, Esteban and Alejandro DeLeon; a daughter, Marisa DeLeon Reyes; her mother, Margaret Healey Fennelly; two sisters, Sally and Patricia Fennelly; and a grandchild. A Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

FELKNER, BARBARA PENISSON

Barbara Penisson Felkner, a retired medical office secretary, died Thursday at Jefferson Health Care Center. She was 97. Mrs. Felkner was born in Gretna and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn F. Anzelmo; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at noon at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park cemetery.

GRACE, GERTRUDE GERAGE

Gertrude Gerage Grace, a homemaker, died Thursday at her daughter's home in Metairie. She was 81. Mrs. Grace was born in White Castle and lived in Covington for many years. Survivors include three sons, Nicholas Ponthieux, and Claude and Clyde Grace Jr.; two daughters, Margaret Rodriguez and Ida Pollion; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 1414 S. Tyler St., Covington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

GEIS, CHARLES H.

Charles H. Geis, a retired electrician for New Orleans Public Service, died Thursday of cancer at his home. He was 75. Mr. Geis was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 44 years. He was an Army and Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He received two Purple Hearts and other medals. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Duplantis Geis; three sons, Bruce H., Dennis P. and Charles H. Geis Jr.; two daughters, Pamela Ann Johnson and Brenda Louise Pinson; a sister, Bernadette Tramontana; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum. L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Bourgeois Grego, a homemaker, died Friday at her daughter's home. She was 78. Mrs. Grego was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She attended Sophie B. Wright High School. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena and Holy Rosary Catholic churches. Survivors include a son, Joseph Devron Grego Jr.; a daughter, Jean Grego Blais; a sister, Reba Bourgeois Navo; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
