Herbert Smith

Herbert Edwin Smith, 89, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on November 28, 2016 at Resthaven in Lake Charles, LA.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Brian Smith and wife Lisa of Lake Charles, LA; his brother, Royce Smith and wife Frances of White Oak, TX; his grandchildren, Sophie Smith and Cash Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Avie Smith; his wife, Sylvia Harper Smith; his brothers, Carmen Smith, J.B. Smith, Clarence Smith; his sisters, Irene Emmons, Belva Hester, Margie Cooley, and Helen Daffin.

Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 2:00PM-7:00PM with the service time at 6:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Mr. Smith’s great nephew, David Smith, will officiate the memorial service.

Mr. Herbert Smith was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW and the American Legion. He retired from WestVaco after numerous years of service.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.

Edith Coffin

Edith Kittrell Walker, 85, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on November 27, 2016.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rose Ashworth and husband Samuel of Singer, LA and Pam Leonard and husband Wayne of DeRidder, LA; brother, Wayne Kittrell and wife Lucille of Sugartown, LA; sister, Delores Collins of Rosepine, LA; five Grandchildren; five Great Grandchildren; two Great, Great Grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Liz Harper; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Kittrell; son, Randy Harper; husband, Keith Coffin; sisters, Norma Jean Young and Connie Griffin; grandsons, Benjamin Ashworth and Kenneth Wayne Leonard, II; great grandchild, Caleb Smith.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 5:00-9:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Rosepine United Pentecostal Church in Rosepine, LA. Burial followed in Shiloh cemetery in Dry Creek, LA. Rev. Gary Bankson, Rev. Cole Weeks and Rev. Samuel Ashworth officiated.

Services were under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.

Shirley Lott Marchie
Shirley Lott Marchie, 58, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on November 24, 2016 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Justin Marchie of Merryville, LA; her daughters, Wendy Dauzat and husband Jimmy of Fifth Ward, LA, Amy Dodge and husband Wesley of Centerpoint, LA, Amber Brister of Merryville, LA; her brothers, Lynn Lott and wife Charlotte of Merryville, LA, Kenneth Lott and wife Jena of Merryville, LA, David Lott and wife Ann of Evans, LA, Tony Lott and wife Chris of Bon Wier, TX; her sisters, Rachel Goines and husband Donald of DeRidder, LA, Cathy Bennett and husband Bryon of Merryville, LA, Glenda Brister and husband Scotty of Merryville, LA, Amanda Phelps and husband Mike of Merryville, LA; three grandchildren, Josh Dauzat, Katelyn Dodge, Laikyn Dodge; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Lois Lott.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Merryville, LA with visitation starting at 1:00 PM prior to the service. Brother Jim Miers will officiate.

Thomas “Tex”, “Tata” Wilson
Thomas “Tex” “Tata” Wilson, 84, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on November 21, 2016.Those left to cherish his memory are his nephews, David Jamel Wilson and wife DeAnna of Slidell, LA and Brian Keith Wilson and wife Melissa of Pirate’s Cove, Toledo Bend, LA; niece, Sherrolyn “Diane” Wilson of DeRidder, LA; great niece, Kimberly Cheyenne Wilson of Ottawa, KS; great nephews, David Wayne Wells, Jr. of DeRidder, LA, Dalynn Thomas Wells of DeRidder, LA; and great, great nephew, Ryner Hillis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Willie Mae Wilson; and brother, Alton Ray Wilson.

Visitation and service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 9:00AM-2:00PM until the time of service at 2:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Pastor David Wilson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Wendell Wilson, K.P. Wilson, Gary Wilson, David Wilson, Brian Wilson, and David Wells, Jr. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

Mr. Wilson served in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion from 1947 to 1988. Mr. Wilson worked at the Elizabeth Papermill, for Foremost Dairy and then retired as a foreman for the Louisiana DOTD. Mr. Wilson was an avid NY Yankee, Mickey Mantle fan and absolutely loved his dogs and owned Wilson’s Pit Bull Kennel.

John Edgar Ruston, Sr.
John Edgar Ruston, Sr., 91, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on November 20, 2016.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, David Earl Ruston and wife Mary Anne of Sun City Center, FL and John E. Ruston, Jr. and wife Sherry of Hammond, LA; daughters, Martha Ruston Spetz and husband Gary of Leesburg, VA and Sandra Ruston Tidwell and husband Terry of Lafayette, LA; sister, Doris Ruston Burr and husband Robert of Bowling Green, KY; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Erma Ruston; wife, Mildred Ruston; and brother, R. B. Ruston.
Visitation and service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 10:00AM-1:00PM until the time of service at 1:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Brother Gerald Read will officiate. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ruston, Glenn Ruston, Danny Tidwell, Jake Tidwell, David Jones, Matt Kelly and Kevin Vowles. Burial will follow at Quicksand cemetery in Bon Wier, TX.
We would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support. He will truly be missed by all.

Lewis Brinkley, 94, of DeQuincy, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, November 19, 2016.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church in Burr Ferry, LA.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM also at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church in Burr Ferry, LA. Burial will follow at Burr Ferry cemetery.

Norman Crystal Davis
Norman Crystal Davis, 74, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Friday, November 18, 2016.

A memorial vistation will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.

Elder Daniel Hickman, 84, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Almadane cemetery in Knight Community.

James Clifford Blackmon

James Clifford Blackmon, 78, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Mr. Blackmon was a Deacon of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church. He played Blue Grass music for many years with his friends and family. He loved to fish and hunt. As well, Clifford and his son Jody enjoyed reloading ammunition and shooting guns.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn “Sue” Blackmon of Merryville, LA; his son, Jody Blackmon of Dallas, TX; his sister, Lilly Ann Hickman of Merryville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 10:00 am also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Brother Truman Keel will officiate the service. The pallbearers are David Ludoph, David Hickman, Britton Eaves, Donny Hickman, Terry Nichols and John Dallas Kidder. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Hickman and Jamie Simmons. Burial will follow in Cannon cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Curtis Harris

Curtis Lee Harris, 84, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Myrtle LeJune

Myrtle B. LeJune, 85, entered the gates of heaven on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016.

Myrtle was born in Dry Creek where she lived until she graduated from Dry Creek High School in 1950. She went on to work as a civilian at Fort Polk and then married her husband, Jessie LeJune, on June 3, 1956. Myrtle went on to retire from the Beauregard Parish School Board in 1986. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of DeRidder where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She spent her life as a true servant of the Lord, always a shining example of what it means to be the Lord’s hands and feet.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jessie LeJune; daughters Debra Arrington of DeRidder and Donna Carter (Allan) of Lake Charles; her four granddaughters, Lacie Carter and Holly Holland (Michael) of Lake Charles, Gennifer Burks (Casey) and Gessica Arrington of DeRidder; great-grandson Lucas Burks; one sister Doris Davis (Wayne) of DeRidder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Meda Miers Bailey; one sister, Melva Jean Roberts; one brother, Allen Bailey.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, on Thursday, Nov. 17. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning at Myers Colonial Funeral Home . Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder.
