Isaac Wacy Stamps

Isaac Wacy Stamps, 100, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Cooper cemetery Chapel in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Cooper cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Brother Roy Hoosier and Brother Rod Boyer will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

William E. McDaniel Jr.

Williams E. McDaniel, Jr. or better known as Billy or Billy Mac, left this life peaceably and went into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 15, 2017.

He was born in Bogalusa, LA to Eugene and Chlora McDaniel on August 17, 1934. He graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1955 and attended Louisiana College, where he met his loving wife of sixty-three years.

At the age of eight years old he made the choice to accept Jesus as his Savior and Lord and he never waivered from following him.

In his adult life, he served his Lord in three churches. He served faithfully in many capacities at First Baptist Moss Bluff where he was a member for almost thirty years and was ordained as a deacon in 1972. Some of his fondest memories were serving in the senior adult ministry and children’s ministries at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. He was a charter member of New Life Baptist Church. His service at New Life was given willingly and unselfishly especially during the time the church was a mission.

He enjoyed cooking, LSU sports, woodworking, gardening, and hunting.

He retired in 1991 from Vista Chemical Company in Westlake after many years of service.

His family was of upmost importance to him and until he became ill, he was always available to meet any need they might have. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was especially devoted to those who call him Paw-Paw.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, JoElyn Smith McDaniel. Son and wife, Joseph and a Terri McDaniel, Granddaughter, Amber McDaniel, and Great Granddaughter, Skylar McDaniel, Sister Lucy Crosby and Husband Ben, Niece Kay Chance (Wes). Brother -in-law Shirly Smith (Jewel). As well as several nieces and nephews.

His very special, precious extended family will also cherish his memory. John and Robbie` Nelson, John Christian Nelson, Jamie` Nelson Russell (Trevor), Jessica Nelson Dear (Jaren), Josiah and Jessah Dear, Bonnie Burnsworth and her two children Draven and Arie, Chuck Duncan and his two children, Keltie and Athena.

Preceding him in death were his parents, His in-laws, Jenny and Herman Smith, Brother-in-Law, Jimmy and Sue Smith and nephew, Ken Crosby.

Visitation will be at New Life Baptist Church Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 5:00- 9:00 PM. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

The family request no floral arrangements, but rather make donations to the New Life Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Joseph Aloysious Torrisi

Joseph Aloysious Torrisi, 92, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Philip Torrisi of Brookland and Robert Torrisi & wife Margaret of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Jeremy Torrisi & wife Dawn of Maryland and Rebecca Torrisi of DeRidder, LA; great-grandchildren, Jacob Torrisi and Jacey Torrisi both of Maryland.

No service at this time.

William Melvin Kimball VanAernam

William Melvin Kimball VanAernam, 44, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his spouse, Stacie Kaye VanAernam of Ragley, LA; sons, Caleb Aaron VanAernam & Alison of Ragley, LA and Joshua Gauge VanAernam & Halee of Ragley, LA; father, William Malcolm VanAernam of DeQuincy, LA; mother, Myda Elaine VanAernam of DeRidder, LA; brother, Michael Shane VanAernam & Brandy of Moss Bluff, LA; grandchildren: Gauge Christian VanAernam, Kross William VanAernam, William Melvin Kayven VanAernam and Taylin Kaye VanAernam.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 2:00-9:00 pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Myers Colonial from 9:00 am until 10:00 am with the funeral starting at 10:00 am. Officiating the service will be Brother Gil Arthur. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

Tanga Kay Myers Sellers

Tanga Kay Myers Sellers, 64, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.

Those left to cherish her memory are: spouse, Darron Sellers of Merryville, LA; sons, Arron Sellers and Amy of DeRidder, LA, Shawn Sellers & Sarah of Rosepine, LA; daughter, Tammy Isbell & Daniel of Merryville, LA; stepdaughter, Kimberly Albrecht of Iowa, LA; brothers, Forrest Myers & Frankie of Welch, LA, Phillip Myers & Barbara of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Orlis Yawn & Herbert Yawn of Hattiesburg, MS, Dorlis Pippin and Russell Leblance of Crowley, LA; ten grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2017, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Merryville cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Teddy Eaves

Teddy Arsene Eaves, 93, of Pickering, LA, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

Mr. Eaves was born on January 28, 1924, in Merryville, LA, to Jesse Arsene and Minnie Pearl Eaves. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Foshee Eaves, parents; brothers, Brian, Murray, Johnny and Huey Eaves; sisters, Norma Bacon, Nina Cornes, and Pasty Rahke.

Mr. Eaves served in the US Navy during WWII. He and his wife raised their family in Orange, Texas where he worked at DuPont. He returned to Louisiana and worked for Boise until his retirement.

He served as a deacon at Little Cypress Baptist Church in Orange, Texas and Cooper Baptist Church in Pickering, Louisiana until his death.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Sherry and husband George Fontenot of DeRidder, LA, Brenda Joy of DeRidder, LA, Tedine and husband Sam Soule of Mansfield, LA, son, Paul and wife Martha Eaves of Pickering, LA, brother, Robert Eaves of Bon Weir, TX, sister, Becky Tribou of Metairie, LA, grandchildren, Elizabeth Maricle, Marc Fontenot, Stephen Joy, Andrew Joy, Theresa Cross, Jennifer Soule, Dana Donaldson, and Lacon Cain; great- grandchildren, Sara Slaton, Mayson Maricle, Ryan Joy, Amanda Joy, Warren Cross, Samantha Gross, Connor Donaldson, Jace Donaldson, Carson Lambert, Calyn Lambert; and great-great-grand child, Dylan Slaton.

Visitation will be held at Cooper Baptist Church, Pickering, LA, Monday, September 11, 2017 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 also at Cooper Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rosepine cemetery in Rosepine, LA

Gary Lee Ramsey

Gary Lee Ramsey, 74, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Gary Lee Ramsey II & wife Ashley of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Gary Lee Ramsey, III and Kaden Lewis Ramsey; mother, Mrs. Marie Asch of DeRidder, LA; sister, Mary Nalley of DeRidder, LA; stepsons, Mike S. Chapman and family of California and Jack L. Chapman and family of California; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Rowland Ramsey and his brother- in-law, Don Nalley.

The family has chosen to hold a private service at a later date.

He served his country during the Vietnam era and was an aircraft fabricator. He was excellent at carpentry work. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him, but especially missed by Rufus and Daisy – his Boxer dogs.

Karen "Sissie" Sue Gaines

Karen “Sissie” Sue Hale Gaines, 65, of Newton, TX, passed from this life on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Daphne Escamilla & Jimmy of Brownwood, TX; sister, Diane Wedgeworth & Mike of Bon Wier, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Reba Hale; sister, Debbie Boyd and nephew Derrell Nathan Boyd, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 2:00PM – 5:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. A short private family service will be held at 3:00PM during this time and then visitation will continue until 5:00PM.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Phillip Wood

Phillip Wood, 69, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, September 1, 2017. Graveside services will be held on September 8, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Central Louisiana Veterans cemetery in Leesville, LA.

Norman Lee Cooley

Norman Lee Cooley, 80, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, September 3, 2017.

He served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict. He owned and operated Cooley’s Exxon Service Station for 14 years, served the El Paso Police Department as a motorcycle officer, and was a member of the DeRidder Shriners Organization. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Reba Cooley of DeRidder, LA; sons, Norman Lee Cooley Jr. and wife Faith of DeRidder, LA, and Dennis Cooley and wife Janet of Memphis, TN; brother, Charles Cooley and wife Betty of Marion, IN; sisters, Betty Raines of New Castle, IN and Diana Chapman and husband Leon of Noblesville, IN; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Cecil and Treva Cooley, and sister, Marjorie Rhodes.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Temple Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Foshee cemetery in Merryville, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Frank Ott and Dr. David Iles.
