Evelyn Marie (Shirley) Henderson

Evelyn Marie (Shirley) Henderson, 80, passed from this life Saturday September 2, 2017 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles after a brief illness.

Known to everyone as Ree, she leaves her husband of sixty-four years, Leland Henderson; her sister, Annie Merle Rollison of Vicksburg, Mississippi; her sons, Kenneth Henderson and his wife Christy, and James Henderson and his wife Laura; Five grandchildren eleven great grandchildren and many close friends.

Ree was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Krystal Leah Henderson.

A child of sharecroppers, Ree was the third of four children born to Elbert and Annie Shirley in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Her early years included a lot of time picking cotton in the fields or north Louisiana and attending the small community church where she met Leland. After marrying Leland in 1953, she traveled with him around the world during his career with the military. They eventually settled in DeRidder and made it their permanent home.
Ree had an unwavering faith in God and was a long-time member of Westview Baptist Church. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous events. She particularly loved the fellowship of after church dinners with fellow church members.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful and loving care Ree received from the staff of both Christus St. Patrick Hospital and Christus Hospice.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. A funeral service will be held the following day on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at 11:00 AM, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.

Jimmy Goodeaux

Jimmy Ray Goodeaux, 67, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, September 3, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Davy Goodeaux of Sterlington, LA; daughter, B’Trice Pierce and husband Tony of DeRidder, LA; brother, Sammy Goodeaux and wife Carolyn of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Betty Hooks and husband Jimmy of DeRidder, LA and Barbara Rhame and husband Larry of Lake Charles, LA and grandchildren, Taylor and Baylee Pierce.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tina Goodeaux; his parents, Bertrand and Tressie Goodeaux; grandson, Jayse Pierce and sisters, Larry Bell Hicks and Norma Cain.

A memorial service will be held at a later date,

Dollie Jo "Dot" Droddy
Dollie Jo “Dot” Droddy, 79, of Newton, TX, passed from this life on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in Rome, GA.
“Dot” retired from Fort Polk, Louisiana where she worked in Medical Records and Hospital Administration and was a Ministers wife for 67 years. Dot was a

Super Nan to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed and her memory forever treasured by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Reverend Hardy Droddy of Newton, TX; son, Stephen Paul Droddy of Newton, TX; daughter, Rhonda Droddy Van Winkle and husband Reverend Jimmy Van Winkle of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Ari VanWinkle, Scott Droddy, Brigitte Van Winkle Holloway, Gretchen VanWinkle, Andrea Droddy, Hayleigh Van Winkle, Candice Droddy, and Gabrielle Droddy; great grandchildren, Noah Popp, Lily and Wyatt Knab, William Droddy, Turner McQuiddy, Christain McQuiddy, Lincoln Droddy, Ava Holloway, London Droddy, and Grayson Holloway.

Those preceding her in death are her parents, Sidney and Estelle Dickerson Griggs; son, Terry Craig Droddy; brothers: Glen Weaver, Jerry Griggs, Joseph Griggs, Hughey Griggs, and Barney Griggs; sisters: Verline Heitman, June Quarles, Anna Sue Grissom Adams, Mary Alyce Adams.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA from 5pm-9pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 10:00 AM, at Newton United Pentecostal Church in Newton, TX. Burial will follow at Griggs cemetery in Stringtown, TX. Officiating will be Rev. Allen Bynog and Rev. Jimmy Van Winkle. Pallbearers are, Ari Van Winkle, Sidney Griggs, Scott Droddy, Michael Griggs, and Brad Holloway. Honorary Pallbearers, Hugh DuBose and Greg Mortensen.

Patricia Kulaga "Patti" Farris

Patricia Kulaga “Patti” Farris, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

A 1967 graduate of DeRidder High School, Patti attended McNeese State University and then moved on to her first job at DeRidder City Water Works. Patti was a valued member of the Pine Wood Elementary staff for 14 years and one year was honored as Beauregard Parish Secretary of the Year for her outstanding service. As receptionist, she touched the lives of the students, faculty, staff and parents each day as she greeted them with a warm smile and sweet spirit. Patti took pride in her work and in her school as she was enthusiastic, energetic, conscientious and dedicated to the needs of all.

Patti demonstrated a high level of commitment and competency in her work where no task was too large or too small. She greeted parents and visitors with a smile, made announcement and handled phone calls with a warmth in her voice and she oversaw the Lunch Buddy programs with the Beauregard Parish Big/Brother, Big/Sister Organizations. Her positive attitude was both encouraging and motivating for all the students, faculty and staff that she interacted with on a daily basis.

Patti was an active and vital member of Ludington Baptist Church where her love and devotion to our precious Lord and Savior made a difference in the lives of the children, young people and adults alike. She was actively involved in the youth ministry acting as a sponsor on several mission trips and church camps at Dry Creek Baptist encampment. Patti served on the National Rape Crises Hot Line and was a member of the National Association for the Mentally impaired. In 2000, The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Mental and Physical Disabilities Board was created and established with regional boards, Patti served as the first Beauregard Parish board member until 2016. She served with compassion and dedication to represent those that the program could help. She was currently involved in the Phelps Prison Ministry.

With a sparkle in her eyes and a brilliant smile, her love for everyone was clear to see. She was a devoted wife, mother, granny, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, D.C. Farris of DeRidder, LA sons, Chad and Jill Farris of Lumberton, TX, Scott and Tonya Farris of Rosepine, La, Cade and Rhonda Farris of DeRidder, LA, and Dennis and Ashley Farris of Merryville, LA; brothers, Joey Kulaga and Margie, Mike Kulaga and Carla , David Kulaga and Henry Kulaga and Kathy; sisters, Rose Mary Kulaga, Libby Cline and Donnie, Beverly Keel and Dale , Jolynn Kulaga and Lanie Laughlin and Gerald; grandchildren, Karlee and Jordan Richard, Kaylee Farris, Cannon Farris, Haylie Penney, Taylor Farris, Raylen Farris, Amber Hardwick, Daven Hardwick, Maddie Farris, Hunter Watters, Judd Farris, Demi Farris and Aubree Watters; great grandchildren, Shaelee Hardwick and Vivian Hardwick.

Preceding her in death are her father, Joseph Kulaga; mother, Helen Kulaga; and brother, Eugene Kulaga.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will continue at 9:00 AM at Ludington Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 until the time of Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Cooper cemetery in Merryville, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Marty Romero and Bro. Frank Hensley. Pallbearers will be Chad Farris, Scott Farris, Cade Farris, Dennis Farris, Jason Cline, Kevin Cline, Dakota Cline and Michael Kulaga. Honorary Pallbearers are Daven Hardwick, Hunter Watters, Judd Farris and Cannon Farris.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Ludington Baptist Children and Youth Fund.

Rilynn Elizabeth Harbison

Rilynn Elizabeth Harbison, infant, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, August 31, 2017. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 1:00PM at Marlow cemetery in Cravens, LA.

Annie Mae Duvall Cazes

Annie Mae Duvall Cazes, 74, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on August 30, 2017.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Rod Bailey and Patti of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Sheila Brinkley and Lewis of Merryville, LA; step-daughter, Billie Jo Knight and Richard of Knight, LA; sister, Dianne Ledoux of Baton Rouge, LA; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel R. Cazes; parents, Jessie and Natlie Duvall; brothers, J.L. Duvall and Gerald R. Duvall; sisters, Pete Beck and Dolly Schexnayder.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 5:00PM-9:00PM at Bethel Grove UPC in Knight, LA. Funeral service will be at 2:00PM, Sunday, September 3, 2017 also at Bethel Grove UPC. Reverend Roy Hoosier will officiate. Burial will follow at Hinson cemetery in Knight, LA.

Clayton Kenneth Driver

Clayton Kenneth Driver, 79, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 29, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Clayton Kenneth Driver, Jr. and Grace of Vidor, TX; daughters, Blanche Elizabeth Driver and David Honea of DeRidder, LA, Marietta Kay Driver of Fort Mitchell, KY, June Sweet of DeRidder, LA, Renee’ McCain of Lufkin, TX; brother, Wayne Driver and Nadine of Anderson, MO; six grandchildren: Micah Gillum and Sarah; Aranda Gillum, Heath Driver and Sarah, Adena Sweet, Kayli Driver, Bethany Niette and Dalton; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Elizabeth Driver; sister, Barbra Dean; brother, Fred Driver and parents, Frank and Blanche Driver.

He was a husband, father and grandfather who loved his family. Always offering a cup of coffee to his friends.

Visitation and service will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 9:00AM-2:00PM until the time of service at 2:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Brother Dean Gintz will officiate.

Floyd E. Wright

Floyd E. Wright, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, August 13, 2018.

Most known him as Mr. Floyd but we knew him as Pawpaw. His pride and joy was his family. His entire life was circled around them and cherished every minute together. He had the biggest heart of gold that gave unselfishly. He would drop anything and everything to do for his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved bigger than any man we ever known and it was felt by so many.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Alyne Wright, of DeRidder, daughters, Tam Larson and husband Dave of DeRidder, LA, Teresa Boyd of Nashville, TN and Araxie Wright of Los Angeles, CA; brothers, Clifford Wright, Don Wright and David Wright all of Tyler, TX; sisters, Ozella Griffith, Dell McKenney, and Sarah Bell, and Barbara Mullican all of Tyler, TX; grandchildren, Clint and Debra Holt, Justin and Kallie Holt, Tabitha and Jarratt Palmer, Michael Boyd, Taylor Wright, Jordan Wright, Quintin Larson, Victoria Larson and Zach Larson; great grandchildren, Alleigh, Tanner, Sydney, Ellie, Mavrick, Camille, Savannah, Bailey, Faith and Charlotte and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Fred Wright; mother, Ina Ethel Scruggs; son, Richard Wright; sister, Neita Flowers; brothers, Glenn Wright and James Wright.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 4:00 – 9:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. With visitation to continue at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA on Friday morning from 9:00-11:00AM with funeral services to follow at 11:00am. Pastor Gary McGough will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be, Clint Holt, Justin Holt, Quintin Larson, Jarratt Palmer, Mike Holt, David Wright, Jeff Wright and Charles Kiely. Honorary Pallbearer will be Dave Larson. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery.

Conagher "Lathen" Cantrell

Conagher “Lathen” Cantrell, 23, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday 10, 2018.

Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancée, Kayla Johnson of Leesville; sons, Carson David Johnson and Cohen Wayne Johnson of Leesville, LA; father, Charles “Chuck” Lynn Cantrell of DeRidder, LA; mother, Lamonica Lynn Cooley of DeRidder, LA; brother, Derek L. Cantrell and fiancée, Rachel of Longville, LA; sister, Morgan M. Cantrell & fiancé, Charlie of Merryville, LA; paternal grandparents, Michael and Becky Cantrell of DeRidder, LA; maternal grandfather, Cullen Cooley of DeRidder, LA; maternal grandmother, Sharon Cooley of DeRidder; nephews, Jack Daniels, Dawson Cantrell; nieces, Lakynn and Madison Cantrell, Aubree and Abigail Daniels.

Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his great grandparents; A.R. (Pete) & Agnes Wyatt.

Visitation was held on, Monday, August 13, 2018 from 4:00 – 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA and will continue at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA until the time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Brother Jason Fortenberry and Brother Johnny Johnson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be, Derek Cantrell, Charlie Daniels, Cody Baldwin, Drake Davis, Anthony Torres and Allen Burge; Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis James, Patrick Cowley, Jeron Richard, David Johnson, Brian Parson and Bryan Coker. Burial will follow at Whitaker cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
