Opal Marie Hickman
July 4, 1932 - May 26, 2012

Opal Hickman was born to Lewie and Ola Mae Craig on July 4, 1932 in Knight, Louisiana.
Opal accepted Christ at a young age and became a faithful member of Power House Church, where she remained faithful until her death. She was a Sunday school youth teacher, Sunday school treasurer, President of Bible Band and Assistant President to the women’s department.
Sis. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Lewie and Ola Mae Craig; daughter, Jo Veder Hickman Knight; brothers, L.C. Craig and E. J. Craig.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Elder Jesse Hickman; sisters, Helen Dotson, Betty Sue Young, and Leola Mazyck all of DeRidder, Louisiana, Evelyn Taylor (Curtis) and Willie Jean Ellis of Arkansas; brother, Johnnie Craig of DeRidder, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Carmen Brown and Naomi Craig of Knight, Louisiana; brothers-in-law, David Hickman of Knight, Louisiana, Daniel Hickman of Merryville, Louisiana; son-in-law, William Knight of Ohio; grandchildren, Lance Knight (Sandra), Catina Knight Catney (Jarron) and Kentrick Knight all of Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and god-daughter, Francekia Ford Huffman.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana from 5:00pm till 9:00pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Powerhouse COGIC in Knight Community, Louisiana at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Almadane cemetery in Almadane, Louisiana. Elder Harold Wright will officiate.

Brenda Campbell
March 7, 1956 - May 25, 2012

Brenda Campbell, 56, of Merryville, Louisiana passed from this life on Friday, May 25, 2012 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Brenda loved flowers, animals and being outdoors. She loved her family. She will be dearly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Sandra Beam of Tennessee; brothers, Melton Campbell of Yuma, Arizona and David Campbell of Merryville, Louisiana; sister, Beverly Yawn of Merryville, Louisiana; grandchildren, Savanna and Brianna Beam and a host of other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman "Son" Campbell and Thelma Hennigan Campbell.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Bon Weir United Pentecostal Church in Bon Weir, Texas and also on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Funeral services will be Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 2:00pm also at the church. Burial will follow at Merryville cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana. Brother Glenn Burks will officiate.

Omer Branham, 79, of Leesville, Louisiana, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Gerald O'Brien
December 8, 1933 - May 23,2012

Gerald O’Brien, 78, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
Gerald was an avid sports fan. He loved the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. He also enjoyed playing dominos.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Jeannette Matney of DeRidder, Louisiana; nephew, Terry Nichols and wife Kathleen of Merryville, Louisiana; niece, Chris Nichols Jopling and husband Randy of Merryville, Louisiana and numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00am at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church Masoleum in New Iberia, Louisiana with visitation beginning at 10:30 am under the pavilion. Father Pelous will officiate.

Matthew A Lee Sr.
November 4, 1932 - May 21, 2012
Matthew A. Lee, 79, was born on November 4, 1932 in Moreauville, Louisiana to Edward and Mary Lee.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Nathaniel Lee and wife Linda of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ruben Lee and wife Sharon of DeRidder, Louisiana, Matthew Lee Jr. and wife Lesila of DeRidder, Louisiana, Charles Lee of San Diego, California and Alan Lee and wife Charlotte of Jersey City, New Jersey; daughter, Edith Marie Lee Harty of Christiansted, Saint Croix, Virgin Islands; six brothers, Ervin Lee of DeRidder, Louisiana, Edward Lee of Kansas City, Missouri, Norward, Spelma, and Murray Lee all of Mansura, Louisiana; two sisters, Dorothy Oliver of Chicago, Illinois and Velma Amos of Ohio. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention.
Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Elouise Lee, son, Hal B. Lee, brothers, Joseph Lee and Cleo Lee and grandson, Rohmond Lee.
Visitation will be Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder, Louisiana, beginning at 9:00am until time of service. A Rosary will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with funeral services following at 12:00pm noon. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder. Father Jude Brunnert will officiate.

Marlin Alroy Waterbury Jr., 48, passed from this life on Sunday, April 29, 2012 in Rosepine, Louisiana.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Billie Faye Moses and step-father, Elmer Moses of DeRidder, Louisiana; grandmother, Melverie “Bonnie” Thomas of DeRidder, Louisiana; son, Ian Lee Waterbury of S. Sioux City, Nebraska; daughter, Celia Faye Waterbury of S. Sioux City, Nebraska; brothers, Ricky Waterbury and wife Vicki of Carlyss, Louisiana, Lakin Moses of Houston, Texas and David Kawamura of Lahaina, Hawaii; sisters, Elisa Holliday and husband Dewayne of DeRidder, Louisiana, Ginger Swolley of Waller, Texas, Terri Windham and husband John of DeRidder, Louisiana, Pam Laramore and husband Gary of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Cathy Hennesey and husband Dennis of DeRidder, Louisiana, Lisa Petrasic of Dallas, Texas and Tracie Mathis and husband Mike of DeRidder, Louisiana and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Marlin Alroy Waterbury and brother, Tapan Moses.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 4:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Lloyd Thomas Nash
March 24, 1937 - April 26, 2012

Lloyd Thomas Nash, 75 years of age, of Crosby, Texas died April 26, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas. He was born March 24, 1937 in Longstreet, Louisiana. He grew up in the Junction community in Beauregard Parish and graduated from Merryville High School. He was employed by Houston Belt and Terminal Railroad Company for 43 years. He distinguished himself by becoming Houston Belt and Terminal Yardmaster, Local Chairman, and General Chairman of the United Transportation Union. Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by two children, Tambra Lynn Nash Perkins, son-in-law, Charles Perkins of Clear Lake Shores, Texas and Acey Thomas Nash of Manville,Texas. He has three brothers, Leslie Nash of Huntsville, Texas, Robert F. Nash of Chappell Hill, Texas, and Kenneth Nash of Jacksonville, Florida. He has one grandson, Wade Mitchell Perkins. Lloyd was preceded in death by parents, Acie Thomas Nash and Velma Fancher Nash and sister, June Nash Jenkins.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 30, 2012 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 10am to noon, followed by services at 1pm with burial at Cannon cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Cannon cemetery Association or their charity of choice in lieu of flowers. Donations for Cannon cemetery may be mailed to Cannon cemetery Association, Dale Young, 260 Bart Young Rd. Merryville, LA 70653

Willie Mae Brown
November 16, 1932 - April 23, 2012

Willie Mae Brown passed from this life on Monday, April 23, 2012 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles Venson Brown Jr. and wife Belinda of Evans, Louisiana; daughters, Sherrill Charlene Willis and husband Robert of Greensboro, North Carolina and Linda Cedars of Leesville, Louisiana; brother, Max Shaw of Burr Ferry, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Jeffery Olivier, Leslie Cedars Moore and husband Brandon, Jared Olivier and wife Amanda, Kyle Cedars, Shea Olivier-Kaake and husband Daniel, Megan Olivier, Charles Weston Brown, Hailey Shiann Brown and Seth Willis; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emileigh, Cade, Isaac, and two on the way; and step-great-granddaughter, Alyssa.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 beginning at 5:00pm until time of service at Evans Congregational Methodist Church in Evans, Louisiana.
Funeral service will begin at 2:00pm on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Evans Congregational Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Evans cemetery in Evans, Louisiana. Rev. Kevin Coward, Rev. Melvin Smith and Rev. George Jeane will officiate.
