Bryant (B.L.) Simpson, 68, of Merryville, Louisiana, passed from this life on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Simpson; brother William F. Simpson and wife Trish of DeRidder, LA and a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Pleas (P.W.) Simpson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 2:00pm also at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cannon cemetery in Merryville, LA. Bro. Frank Ott will officiate.

Carlis Withers
January 30, 1935 - September 24, 2012
Carlis Withers, 77, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed from this life on Monday, September 24, 2012 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 2:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Billy Frith
January 13, 1936 - September 22, 2012
Billy Ray Frith, 76, of Merryville, Louisiana, passed from this life on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Billy was born in Warden, LA to Grant and Molly Frith. He grew up in Monroe, LA and lived in Merryville, LA for 41 years. He retired from Boise Cascade in 2000. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Lois Frith; son, Joseph Edmond of Houston, TX; daughters, Allison Vaughn and husband Cecil (Skipper) of Merryville, LA; and Barbara Brown and husband Barry of Greensboro, NC; brother, Colise Frith and wife Joyce of Pollock, LA; sister, Gladys McKamie of Pollock, LA; grandchildren, Grant Vaughn and wife Amanda of Merryville, LA; Clint Westergard and wife Anna of Raleigh, NC; Jeremy Brook Vaughn of Dallas, TX; Amanda Westergard of Greensboro, NC, Summer Vaughn of DeRidder, LA; Destiny Mayeux and husband Jeremy of Pineville; LA; great-greatgrandchildren, Hunter Vaughn, Breeland Vaughn, George Westergard and Grayson Jett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Molly Frith; grandson, Bradley Westergard; brothers, Johnny Frith and L.G. Frith; sisters, Sybil Savage and Mary Frith.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rosepine, LA. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove cemetery in W. Monroe, LA. Bishop Ted Badger will officiate.

Marie Keel
December 7, 1921 - September 23, 2012
Marie Keel, 90, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed from this life on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Rosepine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Keel was a loving mother and grandmother and she loved to quilt. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Kay Foshee and husband Billy of DeRidder, Louisiana and Gail Cooper and husband Winston of Rosepine, Louisiana. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dempsey Keel and 2 sons, John Charles Keel and D.A. Keel Jr.

Visitation was on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 2:00pm Myers-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial followed at Old Cypress cemetery in DeRidder. Brother George Lee Glass and Brother Jimmy Glass officiated.

Tossye Lee Hewitt Eaves
March 27, 1925 - September 22, 2012
Tossye Lee Eaves, 87, of Merryville, LA went to meet her Lord on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 5-9pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Her Homegoing Service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Merryville. Pastor Wayne Squyres and Rev. Darrell Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Cannon cemetery in Merryville.

Mrs. Eaves was a strong lady with kind eyes. She prayed and gave so much love to so many people. Much strength came from her knowledge and respect that she poured into our lives. She built a bridge of faith between her life and ours. She has taught us to face a real world, remembering to be strong and gentle. Her service to God and Life were a great example. Mrs. Eaves taught Grammar school in Merryville and Evans for 45 years. She was also the Mayor of Merryville for several years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Edsel Eaves, Jr. and wife Winnie of Merryville, La.; sister, Sue Brandenburg of Puyallup, WA; grandchildren, Kristi Goodknight and husband Michael of Hawaii, Chad Edsel Eaves, of Merryville, LA, Titus Tidwell of Topsie, LA, Owena Wing and husband Eddie of Moss Bluff, LA; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Sarah, and Kinsley Goodknight, Jason and Tony Tidwell, Gabriel and Gracey Wing. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Edsel Eaves Sr.; parents Bill and Betty Hewitt; brother, Bill Hewitt Jr. and sister, Blanche Monk.

Katina Roshto
August 15, 1975 - September 21, 2012

Katina Roshto, 37, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Friday, September 21, 2012 in Lake Charles, LA.
She is survived by her parents, Reed and Vanessa Roshto of DeRidder, LA; brothers, Michael Roshto and wife Kayla of DeRidder, LA and Jason Roshto of Sulphur, LA; sister, Crystal Roshto of Rosepine, LA and grandmother, Essie Akin of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September, 23, 2012 at Graybow Pentecostal Church in DeRidder at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder. Bro. Kenneth Gibson and Bro. David Kennedy will officiate.

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Gary (Maddog) Ducote
September 17, 1957 - September 14, 2012
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Gary W. “Maddog” Ducote, 54, passed from this life on Friday, September 14, 2012 at his home in DeRidder, Louisiana. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 10:00 am at New Life Baptist Church in DeRidder.

Gary was a graduate of Pineville High School in Pineville, LA. He was also a graduate of USL in Lafayette, LA and a graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Gary was a 25 year USAF veteran. He served in 35 combat missions during Desert Storm as an A-10 pilot. Gary was a member of the Blue Knights MC, Combat Vets Motorcycle Assoc., a lifetime member of the VFW, a commissioned Police Officer in Beauregard Parish and a member of New Life Baptist Church. He was the owner of Shisei Dojo in DeRidder and was a college instructor at Central Texas @ Fort Polk.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years, Stephanie Ducote; daughter, Katy Ducote of DeRidder, LA and mother, Bobbie Jean Glisson and husband Tony of Pineville, LA. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Ducote.

Florine Ashworth
March 13, 1933 - September 14, 2012

Mother Florine Ashworth died on September 14, 2012, with her family by her side at Beauregard Memorial Hospital. She was born March 13, 1933 in Bancroft, Louisiana to Archie and Collie Williams. She was baptized at St. Paul Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder A. C. Abram. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mother Ashworth, better known as “Miss Pie” has always had a loving and nurturing personality. At a young age, she was given the task of caring for her younger siblings after her mother’s death. She left school at the age of 16 to take on the role of mother. On December 22, 1952, Florine Williams was united in holy matrimony to Archie Ashworth. The union was blessed with nine beautiful children.
On September 14, 2012, at noon, the Lord in His infinite wisdom called Florine Ashworth to rest and be with Him in His Kingdom. She is preceded in death by both her father and mother, Archie and Collie Williams; husband, Archie Ashworth; sister, Lorrine Spikes; and brother, Leo Williams
.Florine’s beautiful memories and legacy with be left in the hearts of her sons, Glen Ashworth, Alvin Ashworth, Larry (Patricia) Ashworth, Randy (Celia) Ashworth, Paul (Denise) Ashworth, and Kerry (LaVonda) Ashworth; daughters, Kathy (Edward) Lewis, Paula (Michael) Fulford, and Vanessa (William) Mazyck; brothers Archie Williams, Wilfert Williams, Roosevelt Williams, John Williams, Leroy Williams, James Williams, and Charles Williams; sisters, Blanche Smith, Margie Flagg, and Ocie Obanion; special family, J. L. Williams and U.L. Flagg Jr. “Boobie”; 39 grandchildren, 90 great grandchildren, and a host of friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 5:00pm till 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Mary Salvation Center in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Spikes cemetery in Bancroft, LA. Rev. Wilfert Williams and Rev. Dallas Thomas will officiate.

John Sliman
September 27, 1964 - September 3, 2012

John Sliman, 47, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana passed from this life on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. John was a retired Captain from Phelps Correctional Center. He loved to hunt and fish and was a loving companion, father, son, grand dad and uncle.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Justin Sliman and wife Brandi of Vidor, TX and Joshua Sliman and wife Kari of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Kaci Owens and husband Justin of Vidor, TX; mother, Carolyn Marcantel and husband Doug Myers of Merryville, LA; companion, Tanya Ellis of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, James, Blake, Hailey, Khloe, Evan, Aiden and Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his father, N.J. Sliman; brother, James Sliman; grand parents, Elmer Marcantel, Lue Cole, Mitchell Sliman and Ethel Duplichain. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Dorothy Jean Hennigan
August 2, 1928 - August 28, 2012
Dorothy Jean Hennigan, 84, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, James Thomas Hennigan Sr.; sons, James Thomas Hennigan Jr. and wife Deborah Anne and Robert Henry Hennigan and wife Diane all of DeRidder, Louisiana; daughters, Marilyn Hennigan Rudd, Sue Hennigan Leidig and husband David all of DeRidder, Louisiana and Peggy Hennigan Kessler and husband Robert Kevin of Pineville, Louisiana; brother, Rodney Ball of Franklinton, Louisiana; sisters, Ouida Boyles of Grand Junction, Colorado and Marjorie Wright of Picayune, Mississippi; grandchildren, Dr. James Robert Rudd, Jr. and wife Anne, Dr. Jennifer McCann and husband Eric, Dr. Jason Christopher Rudd and fiance’ Aimee Arceneaux, David Michael Rudd, Greg Henry Hennigan and wife Amber, Melissa Wright and husband Clint, Kathryn Jean Haas, Emily Best and husband James, Mallorie Joan Leidig, Robert Kevin Kessler II and wife Emily, Kasey Kessler Stewart and husband Brady, Laurie Jean Kessler, Jacob Thomas Kessler, Tara Joy Connally and Melissa Anne Melesky and husband Phillip and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Alma Ball; brother, Ray Ball; sister, Bobbie Brown; and great-grandson, Kaelan Embry Rudd.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, September 1, 2012 beginning at 9:00 am until time of service at First Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00 am also at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder. Rev. Lindsey Burns and Rev. Lynn Clayton will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church Building Fund in DeRidder, LA.
