Rubie Helen Cryer, 88, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Mrs. Cryer was a nurse and helped establish the first Cardiac Unit at Willis-Knighton Hospital in Shreveport. She retired from the State Behavioral Hospital in Pineville, LA after over 40 years of service.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Sherrie Holden and husband Douglas of Glenmora, LA; goddaughter, Marilyn Fletcher and husband Wiley of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Karla Eaves, Glenda Robinson, Bobby Cryer, Tonya Cryer, Jazon Fletcher, Arien Arnold, Kailey Fletcher and Brandy Stokes and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Gola Smith; sisters, Lee Richey, Maxine Cutts and Evelyn Dion; brother, Connie Lewis; sons, Sherrill Cryer, Nathaniel Cryer, and Wayne Cryer; grandson, Wayne Cryer, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA from 3:00pm until 8:00pm and also on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Camp 8 Pentecostal Church in Otis, LA from 11:00am until 2:00pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 2:00pm at Camp 8 Pentecostal Church in Otis, LA. Burial will follow at Camp 8 cemetery in Otis.

Douglas (M.C.) Ashworth
April 25, 1943 - June 24, 2013
Douglas (M.C.) Ashworth, 70, of Rosepine, LA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2013. He was born April 25, 1943 in Cravens, LA. M.C. was a lifelong resident of Rosepine, LA, where he left his legacy.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lutherine Ashworth of Rosepine, LA; daughters, Kathy Beebe and husband Reid of Lena, LA, Gina Jackson and husband Gary of Rosepine, LA and Shana McCallon and husband Jody of Rosepine, LA. He left behind 4 sisters; Rachel Watson of DeRidder, LA, Marie Stewart of DeRidder, LA, Lester Boudreaux of DeRidder, LA and Juanita Lewis of Huntsville, TX; brother, Audrey Ashworth and wife Jessica of Anacoco, LA; 10 grandkids, 10 great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in his homecoming by his mother, Hazel Ashworth; father, Frank Ashworth; brothers, Ruben, JT and Edward Ashworth and sister, Dorothy Cooper. The family would like to thank Rosepine Retirement Center and Hospice for their care and kindness.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 beginning at 5:00pm until time of service at Providence Baptist Church in Rosepine, LA. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11:00am at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Providence cemetery. Bro. Jeff James and Bro. Arlen Smith will officiate.

Mildred Escamilla
January 3, 1927 - June 21, 2013

Mildred Vivian Escamilla, 86, of Mittie, LA, passed from this life on Friday, June 21, 2013 in Alexandria. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Peggy Novakoski of Oklahoma and Kathy Mahaffey and husband Scooter of Fairview, LA; stepsons, Albert Escamilla and wife Cindy of Normangee, TX and John Escamilla and wife Carla of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Tiffany Mott, Peggylee Taylor, Rusty Mahaffey, Mikey Mahaffy, Mandy Manuel and Alexa Escamilla; 14 great grand children and 2 3/4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Nyle Everett, Jr. and Albert Escamilla; son, Gordon Everett and parents, William S. Argo and Peggy Leigh Argo Galyean.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Arkadelphia Baptist Church in Pitkin, LA. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00am at Arkadelphia Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Arkadelphia cemetery in Pitkin. Bro. Brent Maxwell will officiate.

Darlene Manning Jenkins
March 12, 1955 - June 22, 2013

Darlene Manning Jenkins, 58, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, June 22, 2013. She was born to Lloyd and Yvonne Manning, on March 12, 1955.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 7 years, Jimmy Jenkins of Rosepine, LA; mother, Yvonne Manning of DeRidder, LA; 5 sons, Shannon & Wife Debie Mahaffey of Sugartown, LA, Stevie Mahaffey of Gonzales, LA, Bobby & Wife Brittany Jenkins of DeRidder, LA, Billy & Wife Bridget Jenkins of DeRidder, LA, Jackie & Wife Lauren Jenkins of DeRidder, LA; 1 daughter, Heather Jenkins of Rosepine, LA; 2 Brothers, Ronnie & Wife Dianne Manning of DeRidder, LA, L Ray & Wife Murilene Manning of DeRidder, LA, 1 sister, Dorthea & Husband Dale Singleton of DeRidder, LA; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Manning.

Darlene loved the outdoors. She loved fishing, four-wheeler riding, camping, and building fires.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 11:00am until time of service on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Shiloh Community. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 1:00pm also at Shiloh Baptist Church in Shiloh Community. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery in Shiloh Community. Bro. Rod Martin & Bro. Jeff Phillips will officiate.

James Mason
July 9, 1975 - June 16, 2013
James Jackson Mason, 37, of DeQuincy, La, passed from this life on Sunday, June 16, 2013.
James loved his children and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Fayra Morrison of Springhill, LA; sons, David Mason of DeQuincy and William Thomas Mason of DeQuincy, LA; daughters, Madison Mason of San Angelo, TX and Morgan Bertrand Mason of San Angelo, TX; fiancee, Belinda Kay Powers of DeQuincy, LA.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Mason, Sr., brother, David Shelton Mason, Jr., sister, Shelly Christean Mason and grandmother, Dessie Dyson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Eastern Heights Baptist Church in DeQuincy, La. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11:00am also at Eastern Heights Baptist Church. Bro. Tony Crosier will officiate.

Jackson of Labelle, FL, Kevin L. Gibson and wife Lynn of Bossier City, LA; sister, Scharlott A. Chiasson and husband Norman of Marrero, LA; 9 Grandchildren, Brandi Vallery, Dusten Vallery, Byron Daniel, Ashley Snapp, Ashton Snapp, Trista Snapp, Nicole Dauzat, Ken Dauzat, Jr., Hope Dauzat; 4 Great Grandchildren, Allison Abel, Shelby Abel, Payton Hayward, Brylee Dauzat.

John Duplonty, Sr.
December 6, 1938 - June 10, 2013
John Thomas Duplonty, Sr., 74, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home. John’s first love was the Lord Jesus Christ and his second love was his family. He worked hard, just like his Daddy, Clyde. He referred to himself as a jack-of-all-trades and a king of none.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jerrilyn (Jerrie) Duplonty of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Erline Viogt of Kentucky, Pearl Ortiz and husband Alex of Albuquerque, NM, Belinda Skaggs and husband Stephen (PeWe) of Carbon Hill, AL, Amanda Alexander and husband Glenn of Rosepine, LA, Melissa Chevalier and husband Ken of Bridge City, TX, and Tracey Deville and husband Lester (Punkin) of DeRidder, LA; brother, Dennis Ray Duplonty of Merryville, LA; sisters, Joyce White of DeRidder, LA, Helen Moreland of Merryville, LA and Mary Ruth Thompson of Merryville, LA; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lillie Mae Ashworth Duplonty, wife, Sarah Linda Kerbow Duplonty, sons, John Duplonty, Jr. and Ricky Ray Ashworth; and favorite aunt, Bertie Mae Griffin.

Funeral services are Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Good Hope cemetery in Singer, LA. Bro. Clyde Snider will officiate.

Jimmy Carpenter
April 9, 1934 - June 8, 2013
Jimmy Carpenter, 79, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Houston, TX. Coach Carpenter was an educator and coach in Beauregard Parish. He coached all sports at DeRidder Junior High School, girls’ basketball and softball at DeRidder High School and softball at Merryville High School. He was inducted into the Louisiana Softball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2005.

Coach Carpenter is survived by his wife, Wanda Carpenter of DeRidder, LA; sons, Jeff Carpenter and wife Zantea of Lafayette, LA, Glenn Carpenter and wife Cindy of Southport, FL; daughter, Becky Fejarang and husband Joe of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Bobbie Griffin of Newton, TX, Brenda Stanley and Judy George of Buna, TX; 4 grandchildren, Ashley and Collin Fejarang of DeRidder, LA, and Madelyn Carpenter and Jeffery Bower of Lafayette, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Como and Josephine Carpenter and brothers, Earl and Tommy Carpenter.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm, with a Rosary at 6:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 9:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

June 27, 1952 - June 6, 2013

Rhonda Brister, 60, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, June 6, 2013 in Lake Charles, LA. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Landry Brister; son Randy Brister; daughters, Belinda Decker and Miranda Ortiz; 6 grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ethan, Madisyn, Steven, Kylie and Isaac all of DeRidder, LA.
