Celestine Dennis Wallace Jones

Funeral services for Mrs. Celestine Dennis Wallace Jones, age 86, will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church, Cotton Valley, LA with Chaplin William “Buster” Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley, LA.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley.

Mrs. Jones was born November 17, 1925 in Honey Grove, TX to John and Addie McCollum Dennis and passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 in Keithville, LA. She had been a resident of Cotton Valley for 60 years, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cotton Valley and was a Beautician for 30 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Verna W. Allen and husband, James L. of Shreveport, LA; four grandchildren, Stella Allen, Shelly Gordy and husband, Tim, Chris Wallace, Cody Wallace; nine great grandchildren; sister, Vivian Mitchell of Cotton Valley and brother, Talmadge Dennis and wife, Betty of Cotton Valley, LA.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Vernon Wallace, Warren Jones and a son, Dennis Wallace.

Opal Campbell Beshea
(March 19, 1934 - April 18, 2012)

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Campbell Beshea, age 78, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Spring Branch Baptist Church, Taylor, AR, with Rev. R.G. Stuart Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery, Springhill, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Beshea was born on March 19, 1934 to Victor Alexander and Marie Agnes Yates Campbell in Hope, AR and passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in Springhill. She was a homemaker, member of Spring Branch Baptist Church, Neighbors Club and Senior Friends. Mrs. Beshea loved fishing, singing, dancing and being around her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Joanie McClendon and husband, Mike of Stamps, AR; son, Larry Jones and wife, Debra of Orange City, FL; brothers, Aubrey Campbell and wife, Wanda of Hope, AR, Billy Campbell and wife, Pat of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Johnny Jones, III, Rebecca Hibbs and husband, Nick, Vince Jones, Dena Jones, John Michael McClendon; great-grandchildren, Arial, Austin, Sky, Tyler, Landon, Cassidy, Dalton, Jessie, Joey, Ian, Noah and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Beshea was preceded in death by parents; husband, Earl Beshea and son, Johnny Jones, Jr.

Ray Whittington
(February 16, 1926 - April 1, 2012)

Funeral services for Mr. Ray Whittington, age 86, will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donald Tyson officiating. Interment with follow in Springhill Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Tuesday at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Whittington was born February 16, 1926 in Bogalusa, LA to Henry Burkhalter and Marjorie Maude Lang Whittington and passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Springhill, LA. He attended school in Bastrop, LA and New Orleans, LA. Mr. Whittington moved to Springhill, LA in 1941 and began his work career at International Paper Company in 1943 as a painter’s helper and then onto a finished painter and retired in 1979; was a member of the Credit Committee for Carter Federal Credit Union and Loan Officer for CFCU in the 70’s for about 10 years; a member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348, a 32nd degree Mason and Master of the Masonic Lodge #348 in 1969; AFL/CIO International Union Maintenance Local #397 Union President from 1969-1979; member of the Civil Air Patrol, 1st Lt. Operations Officer for 20 years, helped organize the Springhill Fire Dept. in the late 40’s, also was Assistant Fire Chief at one time and helped organize the Rescue Squad and from 1981-1988 worked at Dobson’s Texaco Bulk Plant in Springhill, then retiring to spend his golden years with his loving wife. Mr. Whittington was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters, Marjorie “Margie” Whittington Watts of Springhill, LA, Kathleen Whittington Mitchell and husband, David of Atlanta, TX; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; other family and friends.

Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Opal Hicks Whittington; son, Ronald Ray “Butch” Whittington, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Crow Whittington; granddaughter, Jimie Dale Mitchell; brothers, H.B. “Rocky” Whittington, Wyman B. Whittington and sister, Norma Whittington Walsworth.

Masons will serve as pallbearers.

Mildred H. Disotell
(January 30, 1921 - March 26, 2012)

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Hix Disotell , age 91, will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 30, 2012, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, with Bro. Lyndell Chaffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylor Memorial Cemetery, Taylor, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Disotell was born on January 30, 1921 to Raymond A. and Flora McCann Hix in Sarepta, LA and passed away on March 26, 2012 in Magnolia, AR. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Magnolia, AR and a homemaker. She loved gardening and taking care of her pets. She was also, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Horace Disotell, sons, Edward Charles Cannon and wife, Charlotte of Arlington, TX, Robert H. Disotell of Taylor, AR, Lee A. Disotell and wife, Lenora of Marshall, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Disotell was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vernon Hix.

Pallbearers will be Mike Denmon, Bill Nipper, Jason Reynolds, Stoney Britt, Scott King, Jeff Disotell and Steve Hardy.

Gloria Cox Jacobs
(December 23, 1937 - March 23, 2012)

Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria Cox Jacobs , age 74, will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Ronald Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jacobs was born on December 23, 1937 to Wilmar Carter "Pat" and Mildred Dean Cox in Sarepta, LA and passed away on March 23, 2012 in Springhill. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was a retired elementary school teacher after teaching for 25 years. She specialized in special education. She loved the study of genealogy, needlepoint, and cross stitch. In college she majored in piano. She was a loving wife, daughter, and mother. Gloria is survived by her husband of 44 years, Lloyd E. Jacobs; son, Samuel Jacobs and wife DeeAnna of Springhill, LA; mother, Mildred Cox of Springhill; sister, Wilma Cox Rhyme of Levelland, TX; and brother, Melvin Cox of Tupelo, MS. Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by father.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Craig Dison, age 62, will be held Saturday, April 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the First Assembly of God Church, Haynesville, LA with Rev. Rodney Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Jolley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.

Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Dison was born December 24, 1949 to Clyde and Zadie Earlene Lewis Dison and passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Hope, AR. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a retired truck driver and a US Army Veteran of the Viet Nam era.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Allison Dison of Hope, AR; children, Ronnie Dison of St. Petersburg, FL, Angie D. Walker and husband, Brian of Savannah, GA, Jeannie D. Vines and husband, Randell of Shongaloo, LA, William Dison and wife, Ashley of Katy, TX; father, Clyde Dison of Haynesville, LA; brother, Ronnie Dison and wife, Jackie of Mooringsport, LA; step-daughter, Christie Smith and husband, Stewart of Lonoke, AR and eleven grandchildren.

Mr. Dison was preceded in death by his mother; son, Stanley Dison and daughter, Doris Michelle Dison.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Rasberry, Dennis Dison, Henry Bowman, Gary Williams, Brian Walker and John Henry Hicks. Honorary will be John Hicks and Rodney Hicks.

Robert Lee Goss
(January 24, 1928 - April 3, 2012)

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lee Goss, age 84, will be held Friday, April 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the United Pentecostal Church, Springhill, LA with Rev. Dewey Bass and Rev. Jason Avant officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held at the United Pentecostal Church, Springhill, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Goss was born January 24, 1928 in Coushatta, LA to Charlie Clarence and Magie Lee Frame Goss and passed from this world Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Bossier City “to be with his precious Lord”. He was a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church where he had served on the church board for many years and was retired from International Paper Company with 40 years of service.

He is survived by his children, Mike Goss and wife, Carolyn of Bossier City, LA, Johnny Goss and wife, Sara of Vivian, LA, Sandra Rogers of Springhill, LA, Steve Goss of Homer, LA, Pam Witcher and husband, Jay of Knoxville, TN, Joyce Godwin and husband, Gary of Shreveport, LA; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Hogg and husband, Elgin of Bossier City, LA, Rachel Cox and husband, Douglas of McGhee, AR, Alice Coker of Tullos, LA; brother, Charles Goss and wife, Joy of Bossier, City, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Goss was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Mary Ruth Cummings Goss; daughter, Brenda Goss; sister, Margaret Goss Edwards; son-in-law, Ronnie Rogers and grandson, Jordan Witcher.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Rogers, Jared Goss, Chad Goss, Joel Witcher, Steven Sandlin and Jay Witcher.
