Funeral services for John Sidney deCalongne, age 78, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springhill, LA with Father Pike Thomas officiating. Burial, with Military graveside rites, will be in the Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, at Bailey Funeral Home in Plain Dealing.

Mr. deCalongne was born on December 24, 1934 in Jackson, MS to John Edward and Josephine Maloney deCalongne and died Friday, January 4, 2013 in Springhill, LA. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church; was a retired TSgt. veteran of the U. S. Air Force with 20 years of service and was employed with International Paper Company for 13 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and coin collector. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Audrey Mae Kennon deCalongne of Plain Dealing; daughter, Mona Jo deCalongne of Springhill, LA; sons, John S. deCalongne, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Plain Dealing, LA; Raymond deCalongne and wife, Stephanie, of Benton, LA; grandsons, Matthew, Jett and Ryder; step-grandson, Halen Sikes; two half-brothers, Bennie McDiffett and wife, Eve of Braxton, MS; Robert McDiffett and a half sister, Nettie McDiffett Scarborough both of Pearl, MS.

Serving as pallbearers will be members of the family.

Pastor David Scott Easton

October 29, 1962 - December 30, 2012

Springhill, LA - Funeral services for Pastor David Scott Easton, age 50, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Anchor of Hope Church, Springhill, LA with Bishop J. W. Howell officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Church of God cemetery, Foxworth, MS under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, at the Anchor of Hope Church.

Pastor Easton was born on October 29, 1962 to Dudley Eugene and Judith Anne McClintock Easton in Seville, Spain and died Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Springhill, LA. He was a former pastor of Porterville Church of God for 11 years and founded the Anchor of Hope Church in Springhill in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Anne Easton and an infant daughter, Savanah Jo Easton and is survived by his wife, Jo Karen Easton of Springhill, LA; his father, Dudley E. Easton of Lake City, FL; brothers, Mark Easton of Huntington, WV and Paul Easton of Winfield, WV; sisters, Cheryl Day of Springhill, LA and Charmarie Adkins of Huntington, WV; and many other loved ones and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Easton, Paul Easton, Todd Adkins, Britt Day, Jeff Thompson and Anthony Couch.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Agape and staff, the Springhill Medical Center nurses, Dr. Law and Dr. Grantham.

Marcile "Peggy" Hudson Johnson

October 14, 1931 - January 4, 2013

Funeral services for Marcile “Peggy” Hudson Johnson, age 81, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2012 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lyn Story officiating. Burial will be in the Welcome Cemetery, Taylor, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born October 14, 1931 in Carthage, TX to A. L. and Jewel Soape Hudson and died Friday, January 4, 2013 in Plano, TX. She was a former resident of this area and had lived in the Dallas, TX area the past six years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church and a retired LPN.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. and James Pace of Plano, TX; son, Roy Stephen Edwards of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Angela Thompson and husband, Pat; Scott Lemons and wife, Liz; Anthony Lemons; Tammy Walters and husband, Shane; great-grandchildren, Drew, Abby, Anna, Jocie, Savannah, Cori, Sophia, Grayson and Madison; brothers, Bo Hudson and wife, Joyce of Sarepta, LA and Buddy Hudson of Shreveport, LA.

Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Lemons, Scott Lemons, Pat Thompson, Shane Walters, James Pace and Drew Horst.

Christine Powell Gray
November 26, 1922 - January 1, 2013

Graveside services for Mrs. Christine Powell Gray, age 90, will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Springhill Cemetery with Chaplain Buster Bailey officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Friday at 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gray was born November 26, 1922 in Walker Creek, AR to Lawrence and Bertha Lewis Powell and passed away January 1, 2013 in Sarepta, LA. She was a former resident of Springhill and a resident of Sarepta, where she had lived the past year with her daughter. Mrs. Gray was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, a former employee of International Paper Company and a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Haynes of Sarepta, LA; grandchildren, Michael Haynes and wife, Christi of Taylor, AR, Jeff Haynes of McKinney, TX; great grandchildren, Brandon, Madison, Hailey, Cameron, Hayden and sisters, Lucille Collins and husband, Norman of Taylor, AR, Ruby Perry of Taylor, AR and Mareene Green of Springhill, LA.

Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, of 50 years, Roy C. Gray; son, Roy Leon Gray; brothers, Denzil Powell, Kenneth Powell and sisters, Januace Everett and Sygual Nelson.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Agape Hospice and a special thank you to caregivers, Nadine Farrington, Doris Weaver and Wendy Litton, for making it possible for our loved one to be at home.

Ray Smallridge officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Mrs. Cone was born October 2, 1930 to Euey Lee Dyer, Sr. and Alma Lillian Morgan Dyer in Taylor, AR and died Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Springhill, LA. She was a faithful member of the Butler Street Church of Christ and a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Euey Lee Dyer, Jr.; and, husband, Kermit N. Cone on October 16, 2000.

She is survived by daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Cone, of Shreveport, LA; Retha Templin and husband, Chuck of Ft. Worth, TX; sons, Steve Cone and wife, Carol of Ovilla, TX; Kenneth Cone and wife, Jan of Bowling Green, KY; Tine H. Harrison of Arcadia, LA; grandchildren, Karen Wirz and husband, Fred; Charles Templin; Suzanne Carraway and husband, Andy; Jason Lawrence and wife, Jaymi; Lindsey Haubenreich and husband, James; Klay Cone and wife, Shannon; Stephanie Cone and husband Jarrod, Sean Arriola and Brianna Arriola; Tacie Farnham and husband, Lloyd; Kim Moak and husband Scott and 13 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Cullen, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Joe Watts Wilks, age 85, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Pete Tolbert and Rev. Roy Dale Strother officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilks was born on August 7, 1927 in Chestnut, LA to Henry Edward and Josey Della Huckaby Watts and died on Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Springhill, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area, was a homemaker and worked as a florist at several flower shops in Springhill and then had her own shop in Cullen. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 66 years, Vernon Wilks; daughters, Patricia "Pat" Wilks and Della Ann Wilks; her parents; brothers, J. E.; John; Nevada and Lee Watts

She is survived by her son, Delbert Wilks and wife, Barbara of Sarepta, LA; grandchildren, Shannon Wilks of Texarkana, TX; Scott Wilks and wife, Mary of Sarepta, LA; Tara Krahn and husband, Chris of Jonesville, LA; great grandchildren, Devin, Caroline and Tyler Wilks and Blake Krahn.

Serving as pallbearers will be nephews and friends; honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.

In memory of Aunt Betty, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1919 S. Arkansas, Springhill, LA 71075.

The family would like to say thank you to the Agape Hospice, Lee Jones and Buster Bailey and to all of the staff at Carrington Place, especially Shelia Franklin for all of their love and care.
