Funeral services for Bro. Roy Lee Richardson, age 59, will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Plain Dealing Baptist Church with Rev. Gladney Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Trinity Trail Cowboy Church, Hwy 3 North, Plain Dealing.

Mr. Richardson was born November 13, 1952 in Shreveport, LA to Gaines McKinney and Sally Couquies Gann Richardson and passed away suddenly July 16, 2012 in Plain Dealing, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a pastor at Trinity Trails Cowboy Church. During his earlier years as a minister for 41 years he also was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Stone Richardson of Plain Dealing; children, Juan Paul Richardson and wife, Kelly of Albuquerque, NM; Nicole Richardson Tull and husband, Richard of Mansfield, LA; grandchildren, Aniela, William, Gabriel, Kyla, Fallyn, Matt; step-children, Amy Searle and husband, Scott of Beaumont, TX, Tony Gee and wife, Angellique of Houston, TX; step-grandson, Tyler; three brothers, Larry Richardson of Benton, TX, Terry Richardson and wife, Nancy, Lonnie “Pete” Richardson , all of Plain Dealing; sister, Laura Anderson of Henderson, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Jamie Richardson, Bubba Richardson, Jeff Richardson, Teddy Richardson, Chris Richardson, Terry Wayne Richardson and Michael “Bro” Anderson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be great nephews.

Melvin Ervin

March 24, 1938 - June 27, 2011

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Ervin age 73, will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Plain Dealing Cemetery with military graveside rites by Barksdale US Air Force Honor Guard under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will begin Tuesday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Mr. Ervin was born March 24, 1938 in Shreveport, LA to Alphonso and Susie Crowley Ervin and passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 in Vivian, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a former employee of the Bossier Parish Police Jury and Burns Security Company. Mr. Ervin was also a US Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.

He is survived by his brothers, twin, Elvin Ervin and wife, Mary of Plain Dealing, LA, Charles Ervin and wife, June of Mullins, WV; sisters, Janette Tibbals of Stone Mountain, GA, Sue Parlier and husband, Ron of Atlanta, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Wayne Ervin, Rocky Dunn, Doc Ivor Barnett, Michael Ervin, Lee Bradley and Donnie Helmer.

A special thanks to VA staff and caregiver, Nora Johnson for her loving care. A heart warmed thank you to Rocky and Debra Dunn for their hospitality and loving care given to Mr. Ervin.

Miles Langston West
May 4, 1964 - July 16, 2012

Memorial services for Mr. Miles Langston “Lane” West, age 48, will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Hospice Chaplin Bryan Glenn officiating under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Family will begin receiving friends at 8:00 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2012.

Mr. West was born May 4, 1964 in Jacksonville, FL and passed away July 16, 2012 in Taylor, AR. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of the Baptist faith and was a construction worker.

He is survived by his parents, Sharon and Tommy Tompkins of Taylor, AR; sister, Sherry Lynn West of Taylor, AR; brothers, Scott Tompkins of Taylor, AR, Shannon Tompkins and wife, Melissa of Taylor, AR, Tracy Lea Oslin of Collinsville, OK; children Christopher, Amanda, Cody, Kayla, Janee, all of Mobile, AR; six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Roy Paul Owens

April 17, 1940 - June 17, 2011

Graveside services for Mr. Roy Paul Owens, age 71, will be held Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Western Cemetery, Emerson, AR with Rev. Todd Pickard officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.

Mr. Owens was born on April 17, 1940 in Harrogate, TN to William B. and Viola Goins Owens and passed away suddenly on Friday, June 17, 2011, LA in Sarepta. He retired from Allied Van Lines where he was a truck driver for over 40 years.

He is survived by two sons, Paul and Mark Owens; two daughters, Michelle Green and Angela Perry; step-daughter, Susie Gore and husband John; three step-sons, John, Rick and Don Fleming; brother, Chester Owens of Harrogate, TN; sister, Ruby Wilson of New Port, VA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean Owens and one sister.

Denita Faye Ponder

October 19, 1937 - July 3, 2011

Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Denita Faye Ponder, age 73, will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chalybeate Springs Cemetery with Rev. Walter Holmes officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 06, 2011 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Mrs. Ponder was born on October 19, 1937 and passed away on July 3, 2011 at her home in Plain Dealing. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was a retired paper carrier.

Mrs. Ponder is survived by a special friend, Fred Hayden; three daughters, Virginia White, Peggy White and Carolyn White; three sons, Delbert White, Bobby White and Alvin Ponder. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ponder was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Louise Hunt and Ernestine Manning.

Lola Mae Harris

August 28, 1923 - March 18, 2012

Springhill, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Lola Mae Harris, 88, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harris was born August 28, 1923 in Jamestown, LA to William Rufus and Alice Elizabeth Crow Barnes and passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Harris enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and sharing memories of her travels throughout the United States and abroad to Paris, France. As a faithful member of Central Baptist Church she spent much time serving her church on various committees, along with numerous social and civic organizations in the Springhill community. Lovingly known as Momae to many, she spent countless hours cheering on her Springhill Lumberjacks and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and will be fondly remembered by her children and grandchildren for her famous smile, insightful guidance, as well as her Thanksgiving chicken and dressing dinner and Date cakes. Mrs. Harris also loved fishing and was a member of the Springhill Mardi Gras Krewe of Artemis.

Cherishing her memory are her sons, Michael B. Mike Harris and wife, Peggy of Shreveport, LA, Edward Lee Harris Jr. and wife, Vicky of Noble, LA, William Alan Harris and wife, Annita of Littleton, CO, daughter-in-law, Bertha Bert Aucoin Harris of Springhill, LA; grandchildren, Angela H. Brakeville, and husband, Clayton, James Lee Harris and wife, Shannon; Edward Lee Harris III, Sarah H. Mann and husband, Blake, Lindsey Harris and Staci Harris; great-grandchildren, Shelby Ann, Caroline, Blaklee, and Sutton Grace; and brother, Dr. Roy Hale Barnes and wife, Katie of Picayune, MS.

Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Edward Lee Harris, Sr., son, James Shelby Harris and sister, Ruby B. Pullig.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Brakeville, Lee Harris, Trey Harris, Blake Mann, James Colvin and Johnny Edens. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Skinner, Ray Parker and Charlie Brakeville.

June 12, 1944 - October 1, 2012

Funeral services for Margie Ineze Morgan Blanton, age 68, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Midway Baptist Church, Sarepta, LA, where she was a member, with Rev. Doyle Hales and Rev. Don Shirley officiating. Burial will be In the Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Cotton Valley.

Mrs. Blanton was born June 12, 1944 in Cotton Valley, LA to David Daniel and Lula Ada Wheless Morgan and died Monday, October 1, 2012 in Springhill, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her mother, brother, Richard Douglas Morgan, sisters, Elaine M. Cook and Virginia Clarice Morgan.

She is survived by her father, David Daniel Morgan; brother,Clyde Morgan and wife, Deborah all of Cotton Valley, LA and a number of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Morgan, Jack Thompson, Larry Malone, Johnny Wynne, John Horn and Tony Clements.
