Funeral services for Mr. Robert Dale Cole , age 65, will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 26, 2012, in the Unity Baptist Church, Cotton Valley, LA, with Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Cotton Valley Cemetery, Cotton Valley, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm until service time in the Unity Baptist Church, Cotton Valley, LA.

Mr. Cole was born on October 3, 1946 to Fred F. and Evelyn Martin Cole in Cotton Valley, LA and passed away on August 23, 2012 in Cotton Valley. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was retired from Enron after 27 years of service as a pipeline superintendent. Mr. Cole enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy Cole; two sons, Jamey Cole and wife, Janene of Springhill, LA, Terry Cole and wife, Lori of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Cody Cole of Taylor, AR, Laura Cole of Cotton Valley, LA, Rachel Cole of Cotton Valley, LA, Hunter Green of Springhill, LA, Lyndie Green of Springhill, LA; three sisters, Deborah Booker of Sarepta, LA, Sonya Joyner of Sarepta, LA, Betty Evans of Bearden, AR; two nephews, Rob Booker of Marion, LA, Aaron Booker of Marion, LA; niece, Niki Dinkins; and a host other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mr. Cole was preceded in death by parents; sister, Linda Heskett and brother, William "Buddy" Sherman.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Beckman, Darrell Finlay, Kermit Gibson, Wayne "Tink" Cole, Chuck Rist, and Charles Cole, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rob Booker, Aaron Booker, Travis Moore and Charles Cole, Sr.

Paul Ashbel Newell

June 3, 1926 - December 26, 2008

Judge Paul A. Newell, 82, was born on on June 3, 1926 in Honduras and died on December 26, 2008, in Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, Haynesville, LA with Rev. Steve Adkinson officiating. Interment will following in Old Town Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary.

Visitation was held Saturday, December 27, 2008 from 5 until 7 PM at Bailey Mortuary.

Paul and Rose became residents of Haynesville, LA in 1956. Paul served his country during the Korean Conflict, began his law practice in Haynesville, and later served the public as an assistant district attorney and thereafter as district judge.

Throughout his life he espoused causes that deeply defined his character and his beliefs, whether they were political, religious, or otherwise. He was a long-time member of the Republican Party and an even longer-term member of the Body of Christ. He was always willing to share his faith with people, as evidenced by his 25 years teaching Sunday school (succeeding his wife) and the 48 plus years he was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Haynesville, LA. He was a long-time member of the Haynesville Lions Club and played an integral part in the founding of Claiborne Academy, which has touched so many young people.

Spending time in the outdoors at the Blackwell Place with his children and grandchildren was among his favorite hobbies.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Avent Newell, and his mother, Melba Cita Rozelle Woodville Newell.

Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Rose, three children: Rebecca and husband, Rick; David and wife, Kelly; Danny and wife, Suzanne, twelve grandchildren: Matt Wilbanks and wife, Erin; Jennifer Wilbanks;Shelby and Nicolas McMinn; Lauren, Jordan, Chelsa, Samantha, and Malea Newell; Brittany Robinett; Trent and Carli Newell.

The family extends a sincere and most gracious thank you to the Homer Memorial Hospital and to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Christus Schumpert for the most kind, gentle, and sympathetic way in which they cared for Paul and his family during his five-week stay.

The family asks that Memorials be sent to The First Presbyterian Church of Haynesville or to Claiborne Academy.

L. D. "Buffalo" Claunch

July 24, 1922 - October 10, 2012

Graveside services for Mr. L.D. “Buffalo” Claunch, age 90, will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Old Town Cemetery with Mark Bailey and John Hines officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville.

Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Mr. Claunch was born July 24, 1922 in Haynesville to Edgar Forest and Meta Volentine Claunch and passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Homer, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Haynesville, was a member of Woodland Church of Christ and a retired pumper for Marathon Oil Company with 35 years of service. Mr. Claunch was also a WW II US Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elouise Robbins Claunch; son Dean Claunch and wife, Debbie of Haynesville; grandchildren, Stacy Claunch, Stephen Claunch, Deana Kirkpatrick, Carree Bailey and several great grandchildren.

Mr. Claunch was preceded in death by his parents; a son Stephen Claunch and a brother, J.C. Claunch.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Furlow, Jimmy D. Bower, Jody Childress, Tyler Claunch, Trey Moore and Buddy Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy bower, Henry Branton and Clayton Derrish.

Alvis Kenneth Franklin

January 29, 1927 - February 1, 2012

Funeral services for Mr. Alvis Kenneth Franklin, age 85, will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Huey Mayfield and Bro. Keith Shofner officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Mr. Franklin was born January 29, 1927 in Plain Dealing, LA to Albert Newton ad Azilee Althea Swift Franklin and passed away Wednesday, February 01, 2012 in Springhill, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of North Arkansas Church of Christ and retired from International Paper Company, Power Plant, after 42 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florene Haynes Franklin of Springhill, LA; children, Sandra Kaye Lallman and husband, Wayne of Pineville, LA, Karen McCoy and husband, Wayne of Hope, AR, Kenneth Franklin and wife, Sandra of Taylor, AR, Lowell Wayne Franklin and wife, Carolyn of Colorado Springs, CO; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be Troy Antee, Randy Cave , Tony Houck, Alvis Kenneth Franklin III, Chris Franklin and Joe Franklin.

John Wesley Vaughan, Jr.

March 4, 1946 - July 31, 2009

Richardson, Texas - Graveside services for John Wesley Vaughan, Jr., 63, will be held at 1:00 pm., Monday, August 3, 2009 in the Cotton Valley Cemetery with Bro. Cecil Marr officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Cotton Valley.

Mr. Vaughan was born March 4, 1946 and passed away July 31, 2009 in Richardson, Texas. He attended Louisiana Tech University. He was the director of Internal Auditing for Greyhound Bus Line, a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He and his son are Eagle Scouts and Order of the Arrow, Boy Scout Medal of Merit. Mr. Vaughan was a past president of the Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, a mason, a past commodore of the Venture Sailing Club of Dallas, and a past member of the Texins Dive Club.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Kay C. Vaughan, son, John Wesley Vaughan, III and wife Angela of Austin, TX, grandchildren, Evan Michael Vaughan (5), Kate Huffman Vaughan (1), Willa Caryn Vaughan(1), and Oliver Wesley Vaughan (1), sister, Cynthia Ann Vaughan of Seminole, Florida, and half-sister, Debra Jean Vaughan of Charlotte, NC.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley, Sr. and Thelma Hyde Vaughn.

April 7, 1927 - November 13, 2012

Graveside services for Mrs.Marianne Elizabeth Stewart, age 85, will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Mrs. Stewart was born April 7, 1927 in Passau, Germany to Anton and Auguste Hager Peller and passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in Springhill, LA. She came to the United States in 1952, has been a resident of Springhill, LA and was of the Baptist faith. She was a retired clerk from the Fashion Shop and had work at the Department of Motor Vehicle office for many years. Mrs. Stewart was an avid animal lover and was always eager to help. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by one son, Walter Lee Stewart of Springhill, LA; a granddaughter, Miranda McDiarmid and husband,Jay of Maumelle, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Junior Stewart and a brother and sister.
