BETTY RUTH COLLIER DURBIN

MAURICE-Betty Ruth Collier Durbin, 70, died on Friday, April 23, 2004, at her home. She was a native of New Orleans and resident of Maurice.

She is survived by her sons, Dale Durbin of Carencro and Billy Ray Durbin of Fargo, N.D.; three daughters, Susie D. Thomason of Holden, Butterbean Durbin Dronet of Maurice and Molly D. Robin of Broussard; a sister, Sue Holman of Vicksburg, MS; two brothers, Doyle Collier of Metairie and Charles McClendon of Hammond;12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mabel Ransbottom Collier, and one brother, Billy McClendon.

Visitation will be today, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

Religious services will follow at the funeral home chapel.

Burial will be in Woodhaven Baptist Church Cemetery.

Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

KAREN VESSIER GIARDINA

AMITE-Karen Vessier Giardina, 51, died on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite.

She was a native of New Orleams and resident of Amite.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Giardina of Amite; her four sons, John Oalmann of Shelbyville, TN; and Leo, Trey and Josh Oalmann of Covington; a sister, Gale Bennett of Folsom; a brother, Ellis Vessier of Covington; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Jessie Morris Vessier; two sisters, Farrell Vessier and Lynn Nunez; and a brother, Marvin Vessier.

Visitation was Saturday at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite, with the services conducted by Rev. Kelvin Copeland.

Burial was in Friendship Cemetery in Amite.

EDDIE WOODROW HUTCHINSON

COVINGTON-Eddie Woodrow Hutchinson, 85, died on Friday, April 23, 2004, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

He was a resident of Loranger and a native of Hammond.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Lois Poss of Loranger; his two daughters, Dorothy Carlson of Baton Rouge and Virginia Smith of Ottawa, Canada; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Mary Jones Hutchinson; a grandson, Michael Parr; four brothers, Millard, Peter, Henry and Herbert Hutchinson; three sisters, Irma Gordon, Frances Riley and Vinnie Hutchinson.

Visitation will be on Monday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home. Religious services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Jeff Fletcher.

Burial will follow in Holly Gardens Cemetery.

MOSES WALLACE WHITE

NEW YORK-Moses Wallace White , 67, a native of Covington and resident of New York, died on Monday, April 19, 2004, at North Shore University Hospital of Manhasset, NY.

Survivors include his wife, Linda White of New York; a daughter, Brenda White of Uneedus; two sons, Donald Ray White of Uneedus and Cornell White of Covington; three sisters, Josephine White Avant of New Orleans, Mabel Delores Beard of Augusta, GA, and Carolyn Beard Price of Houston, TX; three brothers, Freddie Allen White and Sullivan Beard of Lockport, and Thomas Beard of Augusta; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Moses White Sr., and Mary Turnner White Beard; a son, Darial White and a stepson, Willie Earl.

The funeral will be at N.A. James Funeral Home on Monday at 7:30 p.m. and burial will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in White Settlement Cemetery in Goodbee.

ELIGA WICKER JR.

KENTWOOD -- Eliga Wicker Jr., 37, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Hood Memorial Hospital, Amite.

He worked as a boilermaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Ashley C. Wicker of Kentwood; one son, Ryan M. Wicker of Kentwood; his parents, Sandra N. Parsons Wicker and Eliga Wicker Sr. of Kentwood; and four sisters, Barbara W. Harris of Clinton, Debra W. Lowe, Cathy W. and Glenda W. McIntyre, all of Kentwood.

Visitation will be today at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 11. The Rev. Richard Magee will conduct the service, and burial will be at Wilmer Cemetery, Wilmer.

MARY VIRGINIA RAINEY CITTADINO COATES

SPRINGFIELD -- Mary Virginia Rainey Cittadino Coates, 72, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington.

Coates, a housewife, was a native of Independence. She co-founded the Walk With God Ministries.

Survivors include her husband, G.W. Coates; her mother, Edna Rainey Luper of Hammond; a son, Pete Cittadino of Baton Rouge; five daughters, Mary Ann Zinna and Cathy Kinchen, both of Springfield, Virginia Fisher, Pamela Canal and Jolene Cittadino, all of Independence; three brothers, Arvil Rainey of Abita Springs, Ed Rainey of Lacombe and Luther Rainey of Kentucky; a sister, Catherine Fitzgerald of New Roads; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Pete T. Cittadino Sr.; and her father, Willie Rainey.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 9 a.m. until the Rev. Kevin Wunstell and the Rev. David Whitehead conduct the funeral at 11.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Walk With God Ministries, 28654 state Highway 1037, Springfield, LA 70462.

JOHN D. CARLTON

LIBERTY, Miss. -- John D. Carlton, 66, a native of New Orleans, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Harriet Passman Carlton of Liberty; two daughters, Carolyn Carlton Boone of Denham Springs and Tina Carlton of Walker; two stepdaughters, Rita Holden of Liberty and Judy LeBlanc of Baton Rouge; one stepson, Randy Casanova of Greensburg; two sisters, Florence Overmier of Sacramento and Rita Chambers of Loranger; four brothers, Donald Carlton of Leesville, Ernest Carlton of Springfield, Robert Carlton of Walker and Pat Carlton of Denham Springs; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 16 step-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Mae Casanova Carlton; his parents, E.O. and Margaret Roach Carlton; four brothers, E.O. "Bubba" Jr., Willie, Frankie and Dennis Carlton; and one step-daughter, Lisa Casanova Evans.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Rob Westbrook conducts a funeral at 9. The Rev. Al Zerinque will also conduct a service at 11 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Husser.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

OTTO MILTON COURTNEY, SR.

HILLSDALE -- Otto Milton Courtney, Sr., 87, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at St. Helena Parish Nursing Home, Greensburg.

He was a carpenter, a native of St. Helena Parish, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Westview Baptist Church, Amite.

Survivors include four sons, Milton and Marvin Courtney, both of Gonzales, Ward Courtney of Amite and Don Boudreaux of Atlanta; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Turner Courtney; his parents, J. B. "Buck" Courtney and Amelia Borer Courtney; one sister, Alberta Webb; and three brothers, James, Emile and Woodrow Courtney.

Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Mike Woodard conducts the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Courtney Family Cemetery, Amite.

WILLIE Z. FINCH

INDEPENDENCE -- Willie Z. Finch, 81, a native of Hillsdale, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.

He was the owner of Finch's Carpet and Flooring and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he earned the Bronze Star. He was a member of Greensburg Masonic Lodge and Independence Veterans of Foreign Wars,

Survivors include two daughters, Linda D. "Sissie" Pieri of Denham Springs and Cheryl Serpas of Kenner; three sons, James A. "Bo" Finch of Tickfaw, David M. Finch of Hammond and Willie R. "Billy" Finch of Amite; four sisters, Collean F. Bickham of Independence, Inez F. McDowell of Waco, Texas , Imelda F. David of Amite and Jeanette Finch of Prairieville; two brothers, Karl Finch of Baton Rouge and Jerry Finch of Amite; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

His first wife, Estelle S. Finch; his second wife, Katie C. Finch; his mother, Viola S. Finch; his father, William J. Finch; and brother, Glyn T. Finch, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 10:30. Burial will be in Stevens Cemetery, Independence.

GENEVIEVE DUGAS THIBODAUX

BATON ROUGE -- Genevieve Dugas Thibodaux, 85, died on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Providence Health Center in Waco, Texas .

She was a native of Lutcher.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Paul Thibodaux of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Royce Ann Goforth of Waco; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Bergeron of Ponchatoula and Lettie LeBlanc of Carthage, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavinia Rodriguez Dugas and Ricard Dugas; three sisters, Madeline Kraemer, Isabel Carbo and Louise Roach; and a brother, Brisco Dugas.

Visitation will be today from 5 until 8 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, and Monday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The funeral will be at 11 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponchatoula.

Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery.

ETHEL ANN MCLOUD BLAZEVICH

PEKIN, Ill. -- Ethel Ann McCloud Blazevich, 69, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at her home.

She was a native of Centerville, Iowa, and had worked at the Pekin Times, University of Illinois Home Extension and was an agent for the Modern Woodman Insurance Company. She was a member of Eagles Lodge 1869 AERIE, the Women of the Moose No. 916 and the Walnut City Christian Church of Walnut City, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd R. Blazevich of Pekin; six sons, Allan, Floyd R. "Chipper" Jr., Danny and David Blazevich, all of Pekin, Arthur "Jimmie" Blazevich of Ponchatoula and Archie Blazevich of Phoenix; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, John McCloud of Hammond, Ind.; and three sisters, Ada Duckwiller and Bonnie Humphrey, both of Peoria, Ill., and Alice Leich of Bloomington, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Dorothy McCloud.

The Rev. Michael McCosky will conduct the funeral Saturday at 10 a.m. at Noel-Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
