S.F. HODGES
KENTWOOD -- S.F. Hodges, 77, a native of Blackhawk, Miss., a retired truck driver and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, World War II, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Roby Wall Hodges of Kentwood; four daughters, Sandra Hodges of Pearl, Miss., Betty Mott of Prattville, Ala., Frances Thornton of Kentwood and Wanda Newman, Calera, Ala.; two sons, Mark Needham of Albany Ga., and Wayne Needham of Kingwood, Texas ; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Nathan Hodges of Goodman, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Annie Hodges; three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, tonight from 6 to 9 and Saturday from 8 a.m. until the the Rev. Danny Smith conducts the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Osyka Cemetery, Osyka, Miss.
TENZY BYRD KIRBY
PONCHATOULA -- Ponchaotula native Tenzy Byrd Kirby, 86, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Kirby Ferguson of West Monroe and Gloria Kirby Schilling of Ponchatoula; a son, Steven Kirby of Zachary; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Kirby; her parents, Beden Joseph and Rosa Porter Chatellier; three sisters, Lollie McTrimble, Angel Raiford and Laura Chatellier; five brothers, Beden "B.J." Chatellier Jr., Ralph Chatellier Jr., Woodrow Chatellier, Bert Chatellier and Fred Chatellier
Visitation will be Saturday at Harry McKneely & Son Ponchatoula from 9 a.m. until the Rev. John Helms conducts the funeral at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Madisonville Cemetery.
CHRISTINE REEL LINDSAY
ROBERT -- Christine Reel Lindsay, 71, died July 28, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center.
She was a native of Parish, Ark.
Survivors include three sons, David Reel of Tulsa, Okla., Johnny Lindsay of Baton Rouge and Hank Lindsay of Robert; a daughter, Dorothy Holt of Tulsa, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Coburn of Fort Smith,Ark.
Her husband, John C. Lindsay; her parents, Harold and Ester Oliver Reel; and a brother, Milton Reel, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Saturday from 6 until 10 p.m., with the funeral at 7. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mary Byrd Perkins Cancer Center.
GLYNDEL FAYE MORGAN MAURER
INDEPENDENCE -- Glyndel Faye Morgan Maurer, 63, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Avoyelles Hospital. She was a native of Independence.
Survivors include her husband, Marion Maurer Jr. of Independence; three sons, Tommy Maurer of Plaucheville, Ricky Maurer of Springfield and Danny Maurer of Independence; three daughters, Sherry Douglas and Frosty Foster, both of Independence, and Tammy Savage of Plaucheville; a sister, Betty Napp of Liberty, Miss.; a stepsister, Faye Autry of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Elmer "Bo" Morgan of Hollywood, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Her mother and stepfather, James "Nubby" and Lillie Belle Beasley Dowden; her father, Elmer Morgan; and one grandchild, preceded her in death.
The Rev. Melvin Rushing conducted the funeral service at Light House Baptist Church, Independence, on June 15, and burial was in the church cemetery.

BATON ROUGE -- Genevieve Dugas Thibodaux, 85, a native of Lutcher, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Providence.

SPRINGFIELD -- Jeremiah Jerome Whiten, a newborn infant, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center.
He is survived by his mother, Iriael White of Springfield; his father, Reginald "Weebie" Oliver; his grandparents, Vera White , Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Callahan, Felicia Oliver and Samuel Brown; and his great-grandmother, Lula Parker.
The Rev. Carl Coleman conducted the graveside service this morning at St. James Church Cemetery, Springfield.

GUSSIE VARNADO BANKS
Hammond native Gussie Varnado Banks, 78, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
She is survived by two daughters, Ella Paul of Hammond, and Erma Jackson of Dolomite; seven sons, James, Freddie, Vernon, Joseph and Darryl Banks, all of Hammond, Howard Banks of Independence, and Curtis Banks of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Ethel Washington and Elouise Patterson, both of Hammond; and 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Banks; one daughter, Deloris Banks; a son, Robert E. Banks; and her parents, Hosie and Ethel Varnado.
Visitation will be Friday at Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church, Hammond, from 4 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Hanible will conduct the funeral at the church Saturday at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

IRIS DAVIS FIELDS
Iris "Mae" Davis Fields, 51, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
She was a member of Full Faith Christian Fellowship Church in Ponchatoula.
Survivors include two daughters, LaTonia Cotton of Ponchatoula, and Karen Robinson of Hammond; two sisters, Mattie Brown of Hammond, and Irma Lloyd of Amite; two brothers, Charles McKay of Ponchatoula, and Carl Badon of Hammond; and four grandchildren.
Her parents and three brothers, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond. The Rev. Donnell Henderson will conduct the funeral service at Full Faith Christian Fellowship Church Saturday at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

NEW ORLEANS -- Russell Gaines Holt, 68, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Touro Infirmary.
His wife, Sue L. Holt; one daughter, Kelly Holt Bates; two sons, Russell G. Holt Jr. and Roy Scott Holt; four sisters, Bonnie Holt King, Bobbe Holt Cox, Brenda Holt Montgomery and Beverly Holt Diaz; and seven grandchildren, all survive him.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
A memorial service was held today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic.

AMITE -- Nicholas Alan Mason Sr., 44, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at his home.
A native of Alexandria, he was a truck driver and a cemetery maintenance worker.
Survivors include his daughter, Christy Anne Mason of Amite; a son, Nicholas Alan Mason Jr. of Dallas; his mother, Antoinette Liuzza Mason of Amite; a brother, Edward George Mason III of Amite; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Scarbrough Mason; and his grandparents, Nicholas Liuzza and Jennie Carreca Liuzza and Edward Mason and Ilva Story Mason.
Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, tonight from 6 to 9 and Friday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The Rev Jack Nutter will conduct the funeral at 11 at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, and burial will be in Amite Cemetery.

LIVINGSTON -- Cassie Rose Edwards, 3, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Children's Hospital, New Orleans.
She is survived by her mother, Angela Marie Williams; her father, Ricky Paul Edwards; one brother, Shawn Paul Edwards; her paternal grandparents, Wilson and Shirley Ellenberger Edwards of Hammond; her paternal great-grandmother, Carrie Edwards; her maternal grandmother, Rosie Williams; and her maternal great-grandparents, Den and Ella Dee Martin.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Edgar Williams; and her paternal great-grandfather, Roy Edwards.
Visitation will be today at Colyell Baptist Church from 6 p.m. until the funeral Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Sam Wallace and the Rev. Craig Forque will officiate.
Burial will be at Colyell Baptist Church Cemetery, Colyell.
