Funeral services for Mrs. Louvella Sibling will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the funeral home.

Lucille Langheld
Graveside services for Mrs. Lucille Brown Langheld were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Minden. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Langheld was preceded in death by her son, W.C. "Bubba" Langheld Jr.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Langheld, step-son, David Raab; three grandchildren, Michelle Puckett and husband Danny, Christopher Langheld, Jessica Langheld; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Dakota; and many family and friends.
Pallbearers were Micheal Williams, Chris Herrington, Danny Puckett, Tom Brown, Chris Brown and Ronnie Morgan. Honorary pallbearer was Aaron Miller.

Aubrey Richard Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Aubrey Richard Jr., 54, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Charles Wooley officiating. Burial followed at Cotton Valley Cemetery.
Mr. Richard, a native of Patterson and a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, Sept. 27, in Shreveport. He was a retired oil field construction worker.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Richard of Minden; one son, Gerald Richard of Shongaloo; one daughter, Tammy Smith of Jackson , Miss.; three sisters, Louella Billings of Metarie, Helen Clement of Iota, and Rose Lockhart of Crowley; two brothers, John Richard of Amelia, and Lloyd Richard of Patterson; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Michael Murphy, Bobby Murphy, James Harris, Manuel Ramariez, and Rickey Billings. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Gray and Orville Gildon.

Joann Timmons
Funeral services for Mrs. Joann Baker Timmons, 56, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. James Oddo and the Rev. Bobby McGee officiating. Assisting will be the Rev. Donnie Lodatto. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Mt. Holley, Ark.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. today, Sept. 30, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Timmons, a native of Magnolia, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, in Shreveport. She was a teacher at Northwest Louisiana Vocational Technical College.
Mrs. Timmons was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Timmons; father, W.W. Baker and son, Keith Timmons.
She is survived by her daughter, Lesley and husband Shane Wells of Ruston; mother, Ina Baker of Magnolia; grandchild, Quade Wells of Ruston; brothers, Clarence Baker of Texarkana, Texas , and Alvin Baker of Tallahassee, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Todd Baker, Carl Baker, Andy Baker, Melvin Timmons, Bryan Simmons, and Don McMachone.

Eula Jordan
Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Pearl Jordan, 78, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Billy Joe Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. today, Sept. 27, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jordan, a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, in Minden.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Urdell Elkins.
She is survived by her sons, General Douglas Jordan and Henry Jordan, both of Minden; daughters, Pearl Lee James and husband Willie of Kansas City, Kan., Agnes Hawkins and husband Joe, Irene Jordan, Mary Bennett and husband Herman, Shirley Matthews and husband Jimmy, Nobie Jordan and Henrietta Cooper and husband Barry, son in law Royce Elkins, all of Minden; sister, Donzell Moore of Shreveport; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends.

Vesta Walker
Funeral services for Mrs. Vesta Virginia Vance Walker, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Crider and the Rev. Donnie Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Sept. 27, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walker, a native of Ruston and a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, in Minden. She was a retired sales clerk. She was also a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was loved by many and loved many more in return. She will be greatly missed and cherished in our hearts always.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Daniel L. Walker; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her sons, Robert L. Walker of Clarksville, Texas , and Danny R. Walker of Minden; daughter, Vicki W. Corley of Minden; sister, Marie Lowery of West Monroe; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Jonathan Washington
Funeral services for the Rev. Jonathan Washington , 70, will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church with Bishop C. Garnnett Henning officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Emerson, Ark., under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Homer.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. today, Sept. 27, at New Bethel AME Church.
Rev. Washington was born on April 15, 1932 to the late Elder Archie Dean Washington and Oshab Walker Washington in Columbia County, Ark., the Plainfield Township of the Walkerville and the Emerson Communities. A wonderful life ended Sept. 23, at Schumpert Medical Center.
His early religious experiences were at Washington Chapel COGIC under Elder Jack Glover. During college, he attended Lewis Temple CME Church in Grambling. In the 50s, he joined New Bethel AME Church and later accepted the call to preach in 1968, and was ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1972.
On June 2, 1962, he married Emma Lee Hale Washington , who preceded him in death. This past June 2, marked 40 years of marriage with love, devotion and unshakable faith. To this union, one son was born, Kevin Joseph Washington .
Rev. Washington served the following churches: Mt. Calvary in Homer; St. Paul in Arcadia; Miller Chapel in Minden; New Bethel in Springhill; and Mary Springhill in Shreveport. At the time of his departure, he was serving as presiding elder of the Shreveport district. Former presiding elder of the Monroe/Lake Providence district.
He began his teaching career in 1958 at Brown High School, that same place he had been a janitor some years earlier. He established the first business department in the school and served as football coach.
He taught at Brown High School and Webster High School. In the late 60s, he moved his family to New Mexico and worked for the U.S. Forestry service as a teacher in the Job Corp. He later returned to teach at Brown High School and Brown Middle School to serve as principal for more than 20 years.
He served his country in the Korean conflict. He was especially loyal to the work of the community never refusing a task because he was too busy or tired. He dutifully served the Webster Parish Community Action, Progressive Men's Club, where he was cofounder and organizer; the American Legion; Springhill Housing Authority; Springhill-Cullen Improvement Association; Prince Hall Masons F&M; Springhill-Cullen Ministerial Alliance; WAE; LEA; NEA; Webster School Community Council; Springhill Association of Retarded Citizens; Louisiana Association of Principals and Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Alvester Washington -Shaw; and Virda R. Washington -Tolefree.
He is survived by one son, Kevin Joseph Washington and faithful wife, Debbie D. Washington ; sister, Alberta Washington -Glover; brothers, Willie James, Elvin and wife Odal, Odell and wife Francis, and Luther B. Washington and wife Alice; uncles, Sam Walker and Fulton Walker; aunts, Travis Kendrick, Elsie Wallace, Velma Epperson; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives.

Valeria S. McDay
Funeral services for Ms. Valeria Simoine McDay will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at North West 14th District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Sibley under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 8 until 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the funeral home.
Ms. McDay was born Dec. 22, 1959, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to her parents, Jesse D. and Mary Alice May Field McDay.
She received her education in the states of Missouri, Montana, California and Louisiana . She entered North Western State University at Natchitoches School of Nursing in May 1978, was elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplishment as a student at Northwestern State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in May 1982, serving six years in active duty. She then transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves, where she remained until her passing. She was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Shreveport as a registered nurse from 1992 until present.
She is survived by her son, Tristan Xavier McDay; her parents; three brothers, Jesse D. McDay Jr. and wife Rosa of Arlington, Texas , Joseph Nathaniel McDay and wife Brandy of Alvarado, Texas , Elonzo Virtis McDay and wife Lisa of Arlington, Texas ,; and a host of relatives and friends.

Duane Nixon Jr.
Funeral services for Duane Lindsey Nixon Jr., 38, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Allen Jordan officiating and the Rev. T.W. Barnes assisting. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, Sept. 26, at the funeral home.
Mr. Nixon, a native of Bossier City and a resident of Uncertain, Texas , and Minden, Passed away Monday, Sept. 23, in Carthage, Texas . He was a contractor for a construction company.
He is survived by Duane and Patsy Nixon of Uncertain; grandmother, Hula Damico of Alexandria; sons, Nicholas Nixon and Fisher Nixon of Minden; their mother, Ginger Gray Nixon, also of Minden; sister, Shelley Frye of Bossier City; brother, John Nixon of Bossier City; three nephews, Byron, Scott, and Jonathan Frye of Bossier City.

William Franklin
Funeral services for Mr. William O. "Bill" Franklin, 63, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 26, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Joe E. Hunter of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Franklin, a resident of Sibley, Passed away Monday, Sept. 23, after a brief illness. He was an area sales manager for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Minden for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Annie Mae Franklin; and his sister Flores Randall.
He is survived by his wife, Callie Johnson Franklin of Sibley; one sister, Mary Ward Maulding of West Monroe; one son, Maj. William "Mike" Franklin USAF and wife Cheri of Spokane, Wash.; two step-sons, Russel "Bud" Pickett and wife Jennifer of Bossier City, Keith Hernandez of Dallas, Texas ; two step-daughters, Terrie Zito of Sibley, Robin Stewart and her husband Chuck of Madison, Ms.; five grandchildren, Kristen and Jenna Franklin, Victoria Zito, and Megan and C.J. Stewart.
Pallbearers will be Reese Hood, Carl Collins, H.L. "Judge" Hanson, Roy Phillips, Martin Phillips, Gene Johnson , Caroll Cedotal, and Robert "Buddy" Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be the sales representatives from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Minden.

Richard Holmes
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Holmes will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at Galilee Baptist Church in Dubberly. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Dubberly under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home.

Betty Lou Nation
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Lou Norwood Nation, 65, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Don McCormick officiating and the Rev. Micah Carter assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. today, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Nation, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, in Minden. She was employed with Peoples Bank for 33 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and O'Neal Norwood.
She is survived by her special friend, Donald Nation of Minden; sons, Britt Nation and wife Diane of Sibley, Todd Nation of Minden; daughter, Lisa McMichael and husband Randy of Minden; grandchildren, Brandi, Taryn, Ashley, Allen Todd, Kris, Ashlea and Jasper; great-grandchild, McKenzie Lou, named after Betty Lou; brothers, Jerry Norwood of Minden and Billy Norwood of Minden; special niece, Misty Wise and special friend Rose Merry Wachsmann; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Beck, Allen Todd Nation, Danny Nation, Kris Mercer, Jasper Williams and Mark Wise.

Steven Simpson
Funeral services for Mr. Steven George Simpson, 48, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Richard May officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.
Mr. Simpson, a native of Galveston, Texas , and a resident of Shreveport, Passed away Friday, Sept. 20, in Shreveport. He was a welder for Beaird Industries.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Gertrude Ouzts; stepfather, John Ouzts of Minden and stepmother, Doris Simpson of Hitchcock, Texas .
He is survived by his father, George W. Simpson of Hitchcock; sister, Alice Robinson and husband Mac of Hitchcock; brothers, Bill Simpson and wife Shirley of Sante Fe, Texas , and Dick Simpson and wife Frances of Ponder, Texas ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shane Bailey, Curtis Sibley, Robert Tangwasser, Donnie Greer, Lynn Todd, Paul Armstrong, Lane O'Rear, and John Quade.

Jasper Tilley
Graveside services for Mr. Jasper "Buddy" Tilley, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood with the Rev. Kemper Smith of Greenwood United Methodist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, Sept. 24, at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home.
Mr. Tilley, a longtime resident of Greenwood, Passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, in Shreveport. He was born Sept. 1, 1928 in Shreveport. He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, Greenwood Masonic Lodge, American Telephone Pioneers, and the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department. He was also an Auxiliary Officer for the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department and the former mayor of Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Irma Tilley and brothers, Glenn A. Tilley and Joe C. Tilley.
He is survived by his wife, Maudine Salley Tilley of Greenwood; four daughters, Kay Day and husband Skip of Longview, Texas , Martha Tucker and husband, Albert of Minden, Glenda Rivers and husband Mark of Kingsland, Ark., and Lori Price and husband Brad of Lafayette; two sisters-in-law, Beulah Tilley of Farmerville, and Lolita Tilley of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons and sons-in-law, Steven Day, Nathan Wiley, Cole Tucker, Mark Rivers, Albert Tucker, and Skip Day. Honorary pallbearers will be John Roan, Michael Phillips, Brad Price, Gary Roan, and Bill Peters.
