FITCHBURG -- Shirley S. (Beauregard) Watt, 71, of 520 Blossom St., died Friday, Jan. 25, in The Highlands, after an illness. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Boucher Funeral Home, 110 Nichols St., Gardner, are incomplete.

Francis M. Whitney, 84

LEOMINSTER -- Francis M. Whitney, 84, of 44 Keystone Drive, formerly of 600 Pennsylvania Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 27, in the Keystone Center after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Catherine (Despotopulos) Whitney; a son, Thomas D. Whitney of Amherst; a grandson; nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Buddy, David and Gilbert Whitney, predeceased him. He was born in Leominster, son of Austin and Daisy (Wilder) Whitney.

Mr. Whitney served in the Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1955. He then worked at the former Foster Grant Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist First Church and the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 75, Worcester.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, Ma 02140-1102.

Clyde A. Wilson, 81

LUNENBURG -- Clyde A. Wilson, 81, of 204 Rolling Acres Road, a retired lieutenant colonel who served in two wars, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at home after an illness.

His wife of 26 years, Marilyn R. (Wilbur) Wilson, died in 1971. He leaves two sons, Robert Wilson of Lunenburg and Timothy W. Wilson of Derry, N.H.; two daughters, Linda R. Clement of Fitchburg and Karen L. Weller of Lunenburg; two grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Townsend, son of Herbert A. and Margaret (Brackett) Wilson, and had lived in Lunenburg since 1967. He graduated from Townsend High School in 1938 and received a degree in education from Fitchburg State Teachers College, now Fitchburg State College, in 1942. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving a total of more than 25 years. He was a weather forecaster and weather equipment and engineer officer, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Wilson taught in the math and science departments of Fitchburg State College. After retiring from the military, he enjoyed woodworking and furniture making at home. He also worked briefly as a mail sorter for the U.S. Postal Service in Leominster. He was a life member of Townsend Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6538 and a former member of the Lunenburg Rod & Gun Club.

The funeral service will be private in Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg. Burial will be at a date and time to be announced in Forest Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Flowers may be sent, or donations made to Townsend Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6538, 491 Main St., Townsend, MA 01440.

Rita Young, 77

NORTHBORO -- Rita (Boisvert) Young, 77, of Northboro, formerly of Tupper Lake, N.Y., died Sunday, Feb. 3, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a short illness.

Her husband, Victor Young, predeceased her. She leaves a son, Gary Young of Tupper Lake; two daughters, Sally Stupack of Nrothboro and Connie Burgoyne of Tupper Lake; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was born in Quebec, daughter of Albert and Sally Boisvert. She graduated from Holy Ghost Academy, Tupper Lake.

Mrs. Young was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and pinochle.

The funeral service and burial will be held at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. Leland-Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., is directing arrangements.

Joseph P. Rebokus, 89

BARRE -- Joseph P. Rebokus, 89, of 18 Trafalgar Square, South Barre, a retired machinist, died Thursday, Jan. 31, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

His wife of 54 years, Annie (Williams-Dubinick) Rebokus, died in 1992. He leaves a son, Richard J. Rebokus of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Mary Jane Bade of Westboro; a brother, Vincent "Bill" Rebokus of Florida; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, John Rebokus of Medford and Bronislaw Rebokus of Lynn, two sisters, Anna Cernauskas and Nellie Runge, both of Wheelright, and a granddaughter predeceased him. He was born in Hardwick, son of Joseph S. and Selma (Karalunas) Rebokus.

Mr. Rebokus was a machinist at Barre Wool Combing co. and Allen's Foundry. He volunteered for Share New England.

He enjoyed walking, reading, puzzles, fishing and gardening.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in St. Thomas-A-Becket Church, Vernon Avenue, South Barre. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity. Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre Road, is directing arrangements.

David N. Remillard, 55

WORCESTER -- David N. Remillard, 55, of 81 Chatham St., died Monday, Feb. 4, in SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for Spring Valley.

He leaves his wife, Susan (Jones) Remillard; a son, John D. Chism of Charlton; two daughters, Jennifer Chism of Charlton and Katherine Chism of West Virginia; and his maternal grandfather, Nelson Remillard. He was born in Worcester, son of June M. Remillard, and graduated from St. Peter's High School, where he played football.

Mr. Remillard was a taxi driver for Red Cab Co. He also worked for the Telegram & Gazette and was a security guard for area companies. He was a member of United Congregational Church, CBee Radio Club 40, and CBee Neighborhood Patrol. He enjoyed watching football and baseball.

The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in United Congregational Church, 6 Institute Road. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., is directing arrangements.

Lorraine M. Rioux, 63

WORCESTER -- Lorraine M. (Dubois) Rioux, 63, of 23 Forbes St., a retired shipping and receiving worker, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at home after being stricken ill.

Her husband of 46 years, Wilbrod E. Rioux, died last year. She leaves six daughters, Karen A. Wilson of Rutland, Sandra J. O'Brien, Denise E. Zuschlag, Kimberly C. Hilow, Susan M. Rousseau and Diane M. McNamara, all of Worcester; a brother, Roland J. Dubois of Everett; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Fall River, daughter of Wilfred J. Dubois and Philomene M. (Chabot) Crompton, and lived in Concord, N.H., before moving here in 1967. She graduated from Jesus Mary Academy in Fall River.

Mrs. Rioux worked 15 years in shipping and receiving at New England Diamond, retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Bernard's Church. She enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing

The funeral service will be private. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard's Church Repair & Renewal Fund, 236 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605. Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St., is directing arrangements.

Earl E. Robbins Jr., 75

WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- Earl E. Robbins Jr., 75, of Bailey St., formerly of Blackstone, Mass., died Monday, Jan. 28, at home.

He leaves his wife, Claire (Sene) Robbins; a son, Stephen A. Robbins of Toccoa, Ga.; a daughter, Ann Bouchard of Woonsocket; his father, Earl E. Robbins Sr. of Blackstone; three brothers, James Robbins of Blackstone, Joseph Robbins of Naples, Fla., and William Robbins of Alabama; four sisters, Marie Girard of Blackstone, Barbara Gautreau of Bellingham, Mass., Jeanne Gould of the Whitinsville section of Northbridge, Mass., and Beatrice Robbins of Medway, Mass.; and two grandchildren. He was born in Woonsocket, son of Madeline (Dorrington) Robins. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Robbins was a human resources manager at Boledin Corp., Burrillville, for 11 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Christ Community Church where he was the organist.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 31, at Christ Community Church, Church Street, Blackstone. There are no calling hours. Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., is directing arrangements.

Josephine Roberts, 83

FITCHBURG -- Josephine (Laundry) Roberts, 83, a resident of River Terrace in Lancaster, formerly of 50 Day St. and 35 Hawes St., died Monday, Feb. 4, in Clinton Hospital after an illness.

Her husband of 41 years, Zeb M. Roberts, died in 1978. She leaves a son, Lloyd H. "Bob" Robare of Lunenburg; a daughter, Sue Ann Mendlin of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy E. Robare of Lunenburg, who was her principal caregiver; a brother, Kenny Laundry of Ausable, N.Y.; two sisters, Frances Leahy of Sayre, Pa., and Lorraine Stickney of Newcombe, N.Y.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Five sisters and four brothers predeceased her. She was born in Ausable, N.Y., daughter of Laban and Susan (LaFountain) Laundry, and lived here many years. She graduated from Ausable High School in 1936.

For 30 years, Mrs. Roberts was a packer at Tilton Cook Co., Leominster, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Camillus de Lellis Parish.

The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 8, from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in the funeral home.

Dorothy J. Rockwell, 81

STERLING -- Dorothy J. (Harris) Rockwell, 81, of 70 North Cove Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

Her husband, Earl A. Rockwell, died in 1999. She leaves a son, Bradford W. Rockwell of Saxtons River, Vt.; a daughter, Senath V. Provost of Sterling; three sisters, Ruhamah M. Gaw of Bedford, Evelyn B. Bourque of Revere and Viva Doucette of Leominster; nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. She was born in Medford, daughter of Vernon R. and Ellen C. (Butterick) Harris, and lived many years in Sterling.

Mrs. Rockwell was a registered nurse and a licensed social worker for many years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of First Church in Sterling, the Sterling Historical Society and American Legion Post 189 Auxiliary. She was a board member of the Sterling United Fund, and was a member of Trinity Chapter, Clinton, and Temple Chapter, Leominster, Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Rockwell was a member of the advisory board of the Clinton Assembly 99 Order of Rainbow Girls. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was involved in the Elderly Outreach Program sponsored by the Wachusett Health Education Action Team, based in Clinton.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in First Church in Sterling, 6 Meeting House Hill Road. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Church in Sterling Memorial Fund, 6 Meeting House Hill Road, Sterling, MA 01564; or to Sterling EMS Inc., PO Box 597, Sterling, MA 01564. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, is directing arrangements.

Rhoda Ryan, 54

EAST BROOKFIELD -- Beatrice I. (Guyette) Salls, 101, of Paula Circle, formerly of Warren, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Quaboag on the Common Nursing Home, West Brookfield.

Her husband, Cecil E. Salls, died in 1956. She leaves a son, Darwin L. Salls of Athol; two daughters, Marie T. Comptois of Ware and Patricia C. Fenner of East Brookfield; a brother, Gleason Guyette of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Several brothers and a sister predeceased her. She was born in North Wolcott, Vt., daughter of Charles and Bertha I. (Deyette) Guyette, and lived 40 years in Morrisvillet, Vt., and 54 years in Warren before moving to East Brookfield seven years ago. She graduated from Peoples Academy, Morrisville.

Mrs. Salls was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and cooking.

The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in Varnum Funeral Home Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Morristown, in the spring. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Care Hospice Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.

Ruth E. Salmond, 84

HOPEDALE -- Ruth E. Salmond, 84, of Dutcher Street, a retired secretary, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Continuing Care Center of Hopedale.

She leaves her longtime companion, Albert J. Ghetti of Hopedale. She was born in Hopedale, daughter of George and Lila May (Leach) Salmond, and graduated from Hopedale High School.

Ms. Salmond was a secretary for Draper Corp. for 45 years, retiring in 1979. She was a longtime member of Union Evangelical Church.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Burial will be in Hopedale Village Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.
