AUBURN - Ann (Cutroni) Cooper, 84, of 35 Coolidge St., formerly of 180 Coburn Ave., Worcester, died Thursday, May 30, at home. Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester, is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Rita C. Cutler, was registrar of voters in Upton

UPTON - Rita C. (King) Cutler, formerly of Elm Street and Millhuas Apartments, died Sunday, June 2, in Milford Regional Hospital after a short illness.

She leaves her husband of 61 years, Herbert H. Cutler; two sons, Gerald H. Cutler of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Donald J. Cutler of Mendon; two daughters, Claire Lemovitz of Sharon and Luann Gardner of Rehoboth; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry T. "Sonny" King of Worcester; two sisters, Agnes Smith of Worcester and Gertrude Lambert of Auburn; nephews and nieces. A brother, John King, predeceased her. She was born in Webster, daughter of John and Agnes (White) King, and had lived in Upton for many years.

Mrs. Cutler was a registrar of voters in the Upton area polling stations. She had previously been a contributing columnist for the Blackstone Valley Tribune. She worked in the Upton Memorial School cafeteria for many years and in the gift shop at Milford Hospital. She was a member of the Upton Couples Club, the Upton Grange, and the Upton Council on Aging. She was also a member of Holy Angels Church and its women's guild. She enjoyed dancing, music and reading.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 5, from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, 1 Milford St. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the funeral home.

August DeSantis, 87

HUDSON - August "George" DeSantis, 87, of 10 Riverview St., a World War II veteran, died Sunday, June 2, at home.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Gladys B. (Still) DeSantis; a son, George "Chip" DeSantis of Bolton; two daughters, Betsy M. Lucht of Deltona, Fla., and Loretta J. Cunha of Hudson; a brother, Joseph DeSantis of Hudson; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandsons; nieces and nephews. He was born in Hudson, son of Nazzereno and Loretta (Meschini) DeSantis. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was involved in the Easter Sunday invasion of Okinawa.

Mr. DeSantis was a driver for Gustafson's Taxi. He later worked at Gothic Craft in Northboro, and at the Hudson Department of Public Works, before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and carpentry.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 5, from Merrill-Carleton Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 48 Central St. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Hudson Community Food Pantry Inc., PO Box 608, Hudson, MA 01749.

Beatriz Feliciano, 85

FITCHBURG - Beatriz (Arenas) Feliciano, 85, of 21 Smith St., formerly of Leominster and Lunenburg, died Saturday, June 1, at home after an illness.

Her husband, Fernando Feliciano, died in 1975. She leaves two sons, Julio and Fernando Feliciano, both of the Bronx, N.Y.; a daughter, Ianez Rodriguez of Fitchburg, with whom she lived; a brother, Marcos Arenas of Hoboken, N.J.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Puerto Rico, daughter of Felipe and Maria J. (Vasquez) Arenas, and lived many years in Puerto Rico before moving to New York and then Leominster. She moved to Fitchburg several years ago.

Mrs. Feliciano was a dress maker and seamstress in New York before retiring. She was a member of Church of the Living God. She enjoyed craft work.

The funeral service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the funeral home.

Norman R. Fortier, 70
Sunday, June 02, 2002

SHREWSBURY - Norman R. Fortier, 70, of 17 Sleepy Hollow, retired railroad engineer, died Saturday, June 1, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 40 years, Ramona (Beauvais) Fortier; a sister, Jeannine Wetherhead of Holden;several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Irenee and Germaine (Blouin) Fortier, and graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1950. He served in the Navy.

Mr. Fortier was a railroad engineer 40 years for B & M Railroad and Amtrak, retiring in 1995. He worked the passenger train from Fitchburg to Boston for many years.

He was a member of St. Anne's Church.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 5, from Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 or the Worcester Foundation for Cancer Research, 377 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605.

Mary E. Germain, 95

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Mary E. (Hathorne) Germain, 95, of San Mateo, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died Thursday, May 23, at home.

Her husband, James H. Germain, died in 1971. She leaves a daughter, Mary Hountalas of Sausalito; a son, Peter Germain of Camarillo; a sister, Adelaide H. Leahy; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of George N. and Mary E. (Bond) Hathorne, and lived in West Hartford, Conn., and Upper Montclair, N.J., before moving here. She graduated from Boston University.

Mrs. Germain taught school in Worcester before she was married.

The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, from Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, N.J., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Denville. Burial will bein Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. There are no local calling hours. Donations may be made to a charity.

Stephen P. Gollaz Sr.

WORCESTER - Stephen P. Gollaz Sr., 54, of 1060 Main St., died Wednesday, May 29, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus.

He leaves a son, Stephen P. Gollaz Jr. of Worcester; two daughters, Deirdre A. Warman and Stephanie H. Pepi, both of Worcester; a sister, Kathleen McLaughlin of Leechburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; his close companion, Gertrude Desrosiers of Worcester; and his former wife, Gwendolyn Labonte of Oakham. He was born in Harris Township, Pa., son of John B. and Alice (Coyne) Gollaz, and graduated from Leechburg High School. He served eight years in the Army.

Mr. Gollaz was a machine operator at Norton Co. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, in Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St. (www.caswellking.com), is directing arrangements.

Norman Grondin, 77

CHARLTON - Norman Grondin, 77, of Cadybrook Avenue, died Saturday, May 25, in the Meadows of Leicester after a short illness.

He leaves a brother, Roger L. Grondin of Leominster; a sister, Claire Chickering of Brookfield; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Antonio J. and Alma (Adams) Grondin, and lived in Brookfield and Oxford before moving to Charlton 20 years ago.

A graveside service will be private in St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. GRAFTON - Lynda M. (Lunt) Grosso-Vernon, 42, of 6 North Main St., North Grafton, died Wednesday, May 29, at home.

She leaves two daughters, Christina M. Grosso of Shrewsbury and Shannon E. Vernon of Sutton; her mother, Kathleen T. (McPhail) Lunt of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Leonard Lunt of Biloxi, Miss., and James Lunt of Shrewsbury; her former husband, Steven B. Vernon of Sutton; nieces and nephews. Her first husband, Thomas J. Grosso, died in 1985. She was born in Worcester, daughter of George L. Lunt. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School, and attended Westfield State College.

Ms. Grosso-Vernon was a substitute teacher at Shrewsbury Children's Center. She was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Shrewsbury and the Lupus Foundation-Central Massachusetts Group. She enjoyed music and working with children.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lupus Foundation, 40 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or to Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 34 Prospect St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

Marc B. Hebert, 43

FRAMINGHAM - Marc B. Hebert, 43, of Framingham, formerly of Worcester, died Friday, May 24, at home.

He leaves his mother, Pierrette (Beaudet) Hebert of Framingham; two sons, Andrew and James Hebert, both of Northboro; a brother, Bernie R. Hebert of Billerica; a sister, Michelle Hebert of Framingham; several nieces and nephews. He was born in Framingham, son of the late Roger J. Hebert, and graduated from St. Stephen School and Keefe Technological High School. He also graduated from Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner, and later attended Northeastern University.

Mr. Hebert was a compliance engineer at Integrity of Littleton, and for many years worked at Prime Computer. He also worked at Digital, Raytheon, Cascade and Zoom Technologies.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1, from Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, 221 Concord St. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605.
