Jeremiah J. Collins, Jr., 72

Marstons Mills - Jeremiah J. Collins Jr., 72, a retired Metropolitan Police captain who retired to the Cape, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at home.

He was the husband of Ruth J. (Maginnis) Collins for 50 years.

Born, raised and educated in Dorchester, he then served in the Navy as an air gunner during World War II. Upon returning home from the war, Mr. Collins attended Northeastern University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He then went on to receive a master's degree in public administration from Suffolk University.

In 1951, Mr. Collins joined the Metropolitan Police Department where, at age 39, he rose in ranks to become the youngest captain ever appointed. He retired to Marstons Mills in 1986, after 35 years of employment with the police department.

Besides his wife, Mr. Collins is survived by five daughters, Christme M. Hanley of Randolph, Ruthanne Durman of Duxbury, Susan C. Crimmins of Hanover, Nancy M. Collins of Pembroke and Ellen T. Creamer of Salem, N.H.; a son, Jeremiah J. Collins III of Sandwich; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Paula J. Kosek-Sullivan, 46

Hyannis - Paula Jean Kosek-Sullivan, 46, a 10-year Cape resident, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999 in Boston Medical Center after a short illness.

She was the wife of John "Jack" D. Sullivan Jr., for 10 years.

Born and raised in Salem, she was a 1971 graduate of Salem High School and went on to graduate from ITT Technical Institute.

A resident of Cape Cod for the past 10 years, Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Dennis F. Thomas VFW Post #2578 in Hyannis. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Walter and Lucy (Morin) Kosek of Salem; a daughter, Christine Marie Kealy of Hyannis; two sons, P. Patrick Kealy and John D. Sullivan III, both of Hyannis; two sisters, Rosemary Fritz of Salem and Darlene Pallazzi of Springfield; a godmother; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews,

Elle R. Larsson, 86

Hyannis - Elle R. (Koivuaja) Larsson, 86, who leaves family on the Cape, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital.

She was the wife of Elof Larsson, who died in 1987.

Mrs. Larsson's mother returned to Finland so her daughter could be born in that country. Shortly after her birth, World War I broke out and both Elle and her mother were forced to remain in Finland away from her father until after the armistice.

As a youngster, she was brought to Leicester and educated in both Leicester and Worcester.

She and her husband farmed in the Cherry Valley of Massachusetts and she later worked for the Norton Co. of Worcester.

Mrs. Larsson moved to Hyannis in 1987 from Worcester.

Surviving are a son, Eric Larsson of Osterville; a daughter, Elizabeth Jayes of Brewster; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Robert H. McLeod, 70

Cotuit - Robert Heber McLeod, 70, of Riverview, Fla., died Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Cotuit.

He was the husband of Ann S. (Dalton) McLeod for 33 years.

Mr. McLeod was born in Woburn. He owned the Gulf Station in Woburn and McLeod's Gulf Station in Reading. From 1970 to 1975, he owned the Hillside Motel in Mattapoisett. He then moved to Yarmouth, where he owned the Beachway Hotel in Yarmouth from 1982 to 1996. He retired in 1996 to Riverview, Fla.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Mark A. McLeod of Brandon, Fla.; three daughters, Christine S. Madore and Michelle L. McLeod, both of Reading, and Sheridan A. Cameron of Cotuit; a sister, Betty Anderson of Woburn; a brother, Danny McLeod of Dallas; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no services. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A,Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Elaine R. Neas, 50

Marstons Mills - Elaine R. Neas, 50, a sales clerk, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 20, 1999 at Falmouth Hospital.

Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Melrose. She lived in Germany, California, and the Midwest for several years, before moving back to Massachusetts in the mid-1980s. Mrs. Neas was a sales clerk for Bradlees in Hyannis for some time. She was a faithful parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville.

She enjoyed working the festival at St. George every year and loved to work and participate in other church functions as well.

She is survived by her father, Harry E. Krone; a son, Wayne Clark Neas of Coffeyville, Kan; a brother, Michael P. Krone of Westwood; two grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.

Burial was in Edson Cemetery, Lowell.

Irene J. Raymond

Cotuit - Irene J. (Grant) Raymond, formerly of Framingham, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at her home.

She was the wife of Hubert H. Raymond.

Born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, Mrs. Raymond moved to the Boston area in the late 1940s. She was a resident of Framingham for more than 20 years before moving to Cotuit in 1986.

She was a communicant of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Joanne M. Kemp of Fremont, Calif., and Jane E. Raymond of Sterling, Va.; a brother, Vincent Grant of Prince Edward Island, Canada; a sister, Dorothy Crawford of Prince Edward Island, Canada; and two grandsons.

Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Elise M. Richard, 92

Hyannis - Elise (Maillet) Richard, 92, a longtime Hyannis resident, died Thursday, June 24, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.

She was the wife of the late Joseph Gerard Richard for 66 years.

Mrs. Richard was born in Greenville, Maine, and raised in New Brunswick, Canada. In 1941, she moved to Hyannis.

She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. During the past 13 years, she knitted hundreds of mittens to be given to children at elementary schools in Hyannis.

Mrs. Richard is survived by a daughter, Edna Fournier of West Caldwell, N.J.; three sons, James Richard of Cohasset, Raymond Richard of Hyannis and Paul Richard of Cummaquid; 17 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was also the mother of the late Gerald Richard.

Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Kenneth S. Richarson Sr., 67

Weymouth - Kenneth S. Richardson Sr., 67, who leaves a daughter in Centerville, died Sunday, June 20, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester, N.H.

He was the husband of Jean M. (Kerrigan) Richardson.

Born in Worcester, Mr. Richardson lived in Norwell for many years before moving to Weymouth 20 years ago. He also lived in Pembroke for several years before moving to Norwell.

He was a safety engineer for Harvard University in Cambridge from 1978 until retiring in 1995, previously working as a local real estate broker for many years.

Mr. Richardson was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran and a former member of the Corner Stone Masonic Lodge, Duxbury.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Kenneth S. Richardson Jr. of Spencer; three daughters, Cheryl A. Davis of Centerville, Cinde R. Warmington of Gilford, N.H., and Jill W. Richardson of Plymouth; and six grandchildren.

Donations may be made to the Veterans Administration Medical Center, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104-4098.

Nathan Suskind, 97

Hyannis - Nathan Suskind, 97, a retired sales manager in the clothing and fashion industry, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital.

He was the husband of Dora (Weisman) Suskind for 73 years.

Mr. Suskind was born in NewYork City's east side and received his early education both there and in New Jersey. While still a teenager, he went to work for the inventor Thomas A. Edison and told many stories of the eccentric genius.

After many years in the sales end of the clothing field, Mr. Suskind opened his own millinery store in Binghamton, N.Y. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Florida and later to Hyannis in 1973.

A devoted and active member of the Cape Cod Synagogue, he presided over the second service for many years as well as chairing the Minyan and distributing the synagogue bulletin.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Dr. Stuart Suskind of Media, Pa.; and two daughters, Phyllis Josell of Alieso Viejo, Calif., and Ruth Ann Burk of Port Jefferson , N.Y.

Lillian R. Williams, 86

Hyannis - Lillian (Richmond) Williams, 86, a former secretary, died Sunday, June 20, 1999 at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care - Manor in Hyannis after a long illness.

She was the wife of Elgin Wayne Williams for 51 years.

Mrs. Williams was born in Lakehurst, N.J., and raised and educated in New Jersey. She lived in NewYork City and worked there as a secretary until her marriage.

After her marriage, she lived in New Jersey, NewYork and Connecticut before moving to Hyannis in 1977.

An avid bird watcher, she loved dogs and enjoyed genealogy. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, Daughters of the American Revolution and the M.S.P.C.A.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Nancy P. Williams of Hyannis; and five nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the M.S.P.C.A., 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632.
