Centerville Nelson Groffman, 87, a well-known horticultural and scenic photographer, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999 at The Pavilion in Centerville.

Mr. Groffman was born in Hopkinsville, Ky., but he considered New England his home. He and his wife of 46 years, Helen, lived in Centerville for 13 years.

He graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia and opened a commercial photo studio in Newark, N.J.

He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, stationed in Africa and Italy. After the war, he continued to travel, photographing in England, Ireland, Mexico and California.
