Robert D. Muir, 78

Cummaquid - Robert D. Muir, 78, of Cummaquid Heights died April 4, 2000, in Miami.

He was the husband of Gloria (Ludwig) Muir for 42 years.

Mr. Muir graduated from Boston University College of Business Administration in 1947. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity and the Scarlet Key Honorary Society. Entering college with the class of 1944, his graduation was delayed by three years of service in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

A resident of Brookline for many years, Mr. Muir retired to Cape Cod in 1987.

He was active in the natural food movement during its early years, serving two terms as president of the Massachusetts Chapter of Natural Food Associates, and one term as chairman of the New England Council of the same organization.

Mr. Muir was a member and past president of the Brookline Rotary Club, and after his retirement was a member of the Hyannis Rotary Club. He recently completed 32 years of perfect attendance in the organization.

He was a member and past commodore of the Newton Yacht Club, and continued his membership on an honorary basis after retiring to the Cape. He was an active member of the Hyannis Yacht Club.

Mr. Muir was a member of the First Parish (Unitarian) Church of Brookline for many years, and later joined the Unitarian Church of Barnstable. He was also active in the Boston-based Unitarian-Universalist Christian Fellowship, and served two one-year terms as president.

Surviving besides his wife are four nieces and nephews.

Sima Randolph, 77

Centerville - Sima Randolph, 77, who leaves family on the Cape, died April 12, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

She was the wife of Fred Randolph for 46 years.

Born in Providence, R.I., Mrs. Randolph was raised in Massena, N.Y., and lived in Watertown and Oradell, N.J.

Mrs. Randolph worked for Raytheon and Bachrach Photographers before moving to New Jersey in 1956. She also worked for Weiner-Ludwig Insurance Agency until her retirement in 1982.

An avid bridge player, she was active in the Armenian community in Watertown and New Jersey.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Diane Parvin of Centerville; two sisters, Helen Markarian of Westwood and Nonnie Kuimjian of Centerville; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara Renard, 64

Centerville - Barbara D. (Weber) Renard, 64, a craft and dollhouse miniature artist, died April 9, 2000, at her home.

She was the wife of Alan A. Renard for 39 years.

She was a Barnstable resident and a graduate of Barnstable High School. After high school, she worked for the New England Telephone Co. in Boston and Hyannis.

She lived throughout the United States while her husband served in the Air Force. Upon his retirement, they returned to Cape Cod, settling in Centerville.

Mrs. Renard was known throughout New England for her handmade dollhouse miniatures and various crafts. She showed her work in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hyannis for 27 years and participated in many activities, including craft coordinator and mission outreach.

She enjoyed spending time at her Vermont vacation home with family as well as traveling around the country.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Jeff E. Renard of Springfield, Vt.; a daughter, Lori E. Roach of Woodville, N.H.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Isabella J. Roberts, 83

Centerville - Isabella June (Marsh) Roberts, 83, a resident of Centerville, died March 31, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

She was the wife of the late Colin Roberts.

Mrs. Roberts lived in Chappaqua, N.Y., until moving to Centerville.

She was a graduate of Horace Greeley High School, Chappaqua, N.Y., and attended the Traphagen School of Design in New York. She worked most of her professional life for the Burns Security Corp. and the Gannett Newspaper Group.

She was an avid gardener, a talented painter and an animal enthusiast. She was known for her energy for life and for her dedication to her family, particularly her mother, Isabella Lawrence Marsh, who is 100 years old.

Besides her mother, she is survived by a sister, Ellenanne Marsh LeClair of Peterborough, N.H.; three sons, Michael M. Roberts of Ridgefield, Conn., Jeffrey Roberts of Darien, Conn., and Jay Roberts of Mt. Kisco, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elizabeth B. 'Betty' Senopoulos, 80

Centerville - Elizabeth B. "Betty" (Gorman) Senopoulos, 80, the former owner of an engineering and manufacturing company, died April 12, 2000, at her Centerville home.

She was the wife of Ashland C. Senopoulos.

Born in Norwood, Mrs. Senopoulos was raised in Norwood, West Roxbury and Roslindale. She was a resident of Norwood for 15 years before moving to Centerville in the early 1970s.

After attending a junior college, she was the owner and co-founder of Majestic Engineering and Manufacturing Co. of Walpole and Bournedale until retiring in 1980.

She was a past member of the Women's Guild of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Heritage Foundation of Washington , D.C., and the Rutherford Institute.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a sister, Florence Lockwood of Norwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Muriel A. Stateman, 65

Cotuit - Muriel A. Stateman, 65, a Cotuit resident since 1981, died April 9, 2000, at the Center for Optimum Care in Mashpee after a long illness.

She was the wife of Benjamin Stateman since 1968.

Mrs. Stateman was born, raised and educated in Boston. She graduated from Tufts University and worked as a teacher in the Boston area for many years. She was a past member of the Cape Cod Synagogue in Hyannis.

The Statemans lived in Queens, N.Y., from 1968 until 1981, when they moved to Cotuit.

Mrs. Stateman was an avid reader who enjoyed all types of books.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Charlene Elovitz of California, Alison Stateman of New York City and Janet Stateman of Boston; a brother, Eric Nissen of Lowell; a sister, Paula Goldman of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret G. Sullivan, 85

Hyannis - Margaret G. (Brogan) Sullivan, 85, died April 14, 2000, at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Chatham.

She was the wife of the late Capt. Leon F. Sullivan.

Born in St. John's, New Brunswick, Canada, Mrs. Sullivan lived most of her life in Hyannis.

A graduate of Barnstable High School, she worked as a secretary at Prudential Life Insurance Co. in Hyannis for 21 years.

She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.

Mrs. Sullivan was an avid gardener and bird-watcher.

She is survived by a son, James Sullivan of Centerville; a brother, Frank Brogan of Hyannisport; three grandsons; and one great-grandson.

John E. Sweeney Jr., 76

Centerville - John E. Sweeney Jr., 76, died April 14, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

He was the husband of the late Rosemary L. (Howe) Sweeney, who died in 1994.

A Belmont native, he graduated from Belmont High School in 1941.

A year later, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with Five Battle Stars and an Air Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters.

In 1951 he graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

From 1951 to 1952 he served as personnel officer with the 4th Fighter Wing of the Air Force in Korea.

He then spent 21 years as district manager for Chevrolet Motor Division. In 1977, he became a tax examiner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a position he held for 15 years.

Mr. Sweeney had lived in Centerville since 1975. He loved photography, gardening and big band music.

He is survived by two daughters, Kerry Sweeney of Marstons Mills and Debbie Leary of West Barnstable; a son, John Sweeney III of Dedham; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Christina H. Wetherbee, 51

East Falmouth - Christina H. (Limoges) Wetherbee, 51, a former telephone company employee, died April 9, 2000, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a long illness.

She was the wife of Joseph D. Wetherbee Sr.

Mrs. Wetherbee was born in Chicopee and lived in Falmouth for more than 30 years.

She worked for Bell Atlantic Co. in Hyannis for more than 20 years, retiring in 1998. She was also a food service worker for the Falmouth public schools.

She was an active member of the Harley owners group in Pocasset. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and crocheting.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Tammy Baptiste of Falmouth; a son, Joseph D. Wetherbee Jr. of Hinesville, Ga.; a sister, Serena Sears of East Dennis; a brother, George Limoges of South Berwick, Maine; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
