Edith A. Rennie, 77

Cotuit - Edith A. (Dunbar) Rennie, 77, who moved to the Cape in 1954, died Dec. 22, 2000, at the Center for Optimum Care in Mashpee.
She was the wife of C. Francis Rennie.
Born in Pawtucket, R.I., Mrs. Rennie lived in Seekonk for 18 years. She was a graduate of Pawtucket East High School in 1942. She lived in Attleboro for 12 years before moving to Cape Cod in 1954.
Mrs. Rennie was employed by O'Brien's Centerville Insurance Agency for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Joyce E. Nystrom of Santa Clara, Calif., and Janice C. Sullivan of West Yarmouth; two grandchildren and many cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation or a charity of one's choice.

Alfred G. Ricci, 71

Hyannis - Alfred G. Ricci, 71, a local cabinetmaker, died Dec. 24, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital.
He was the companion of Donna Lee Larose for 38 years and the former husband of June (Cullen) Sarno.
Born and raised in Malden, Mr. Ricci had lived on Cape Cod nearly 30 years. He owned and operated Ricci's Cabinetmaking in Hyannis.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Ruelle of Malden, Phyllis Ricci of Lynn and June Ricci of Wolfboro, N.H.; two sons, Robert Ricci of Malden and Mark Ricci of Hyannis; a sister, Georgina Ricci of Malden; a brother, Frank Ricci of Malden; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Alfred Ricci.

Rosemary T. Russo, 77

Osterville - Rosemary (Thayer) Russo, 77, a longtime resident of Osterville, died Dec. 13, 2000, at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville.
She was the wife of Dr. Joseph N. Russo II for nearly 56 years.
Born in Cannon Falls, Minn., Mrs. Russo grew up in Burlington, Vt., and attended Radcliffe College and the University of Vermont. She lived in Hartford, Conn., for 40 years.
While attending Burlington High School, she performed with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, including performing a violin concerto solo at the New York World's Fair in 1939. She attended Radcliffe College on a music scholarship as the first violinist of the Harvard Radcliffe Symphony Orchestra, returning to Burlington and completing her degree during the war at the University of Vermont.
During high school and college, she competed and ranked on ski teams with world-class skiers including teammates who went on to compete in postwar U.S. ski teams and in the 1948 and 1952 Olympics. Had the Winter Olympics been held in 1944, she would have likely competed for the United States.
Mrs. Russo was active in community affairs, including the Hartford County Medical Society Auxiliary, Renbrook School, Loomis School and Westminster School parents boards, Trinity College Town and Gown, Hartford Symphony Auxiliary Board, Radcliffe Club of Hartford, Radcliffe College Alumnae Council and Hartford Hospital Auxiliary.
For 30 years as a part-time resident and then 20 years year-round, she was involved in family activities at the Oyster Harbors Club, Wianno Club and Wianno Yacht Club. She also served as a secretary-treasurer of the Oyster Harbors Property Owners Association for many years.
Surviving besides her husband are four sons, Joseph N. Russo III of Freeport, Bahamas, Nicholas J. Russo II and Frank T. Russo, both of Osterville, and Daniel P. Russo of Middletown, Conn., a brother, Donald Thayer of Winchester; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and two nephews.

Frederic M. Schaefer, 82

Cumberland Foreside, Maine - Frederic M. Schaefer, 82, retired chairman and CEO of Schaefer Equipment Co. and founder, chairman and CEO of Schaefer Marine, died Dec. 25, 2000, at his home, where he had lived since the early 1980s.
He was the husband of Imelda Schaefer for 20 years.
Born and educated in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. Schaefer was a 1941 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
He enlisted in the Navy and served as captain of a submarine chaser supporting invasions in both North Africa and Italy.
After the war he returned to Pittsburgh, where he eventually took over management of Schaefer Equipment Co. from his father, who had founded this manufacturer of braking components for the freight car industry.
Mr. Schaefer and his family moved to Boston in 1965, where he founded Schaefer Marine, which became one of the leading manufacturers of sailboat hardware.
He moved the company to New Bedford and lived in Osterville before moving to Maine in 1978. He retired from the companies in 1990.
A lifelong sailor who made his first transatlantic crossing at the age of 17 to his father's native Norway, he was a member of the Cruising Club of America, New York Yacht Club and Portland Yacht Club.
He also served on the board of directors of the Maine Maritime Museum and on the board at Waynflete School in Portland.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Peter M. Schaefer of Arlington, Va., Frederic M. Schaefer Jr. of Denver, Colo., Stephen W. Schaefer of Annapolis, Md., and Thomas M. Schaefer of Cumberland Foreside; three daughters, Sally Schaefer of Annapolis, Md., Terry Schaefer of Rumson, N.J., and Marta Phillips of Darian, Conn.; a sister, Katherine Foy of New York City; and 14 grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Garden, c/o St. Bartholomew's Church, 396 Gilman Road, Yarmouth, ME 04096.

Jennifer Louise Shorey, 22

Hyannis - Jennifer Louise Shorey, 22, died Dec. 21, 2000, following a brief illness.
Miss Shorey was born in Providence and moved to Cape Cod from Rhode Island in 1980. She loved music and softball and enjoyed spending time at the beach.
Surviving are her parents, Karen A. Bryden and Gregory A. and Carol Shorey, all of Dennis; her maternal grandparents, Harold and Barbara Bryden, both of Dennisport; a sister, Nicole K. Hamel of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three brothers, Adam Shorey, Jeremy Eccles and Jason Eccles, all of Dennis; her grandmother, Wilma Schneider of Dennis; and many cousins.

David S. Terry, 77

Mashpee - David S. Terry, 77, died unexpectedly Dec. 20, 2000, at his home.
He was the husband of Elizabeth L. (Bond) Terry for 51 years.
Mr. Terry was born and raised in Everett.
He graduated from Springfield College, with a degree in teaching and continued his interest in music. During World War II, he served in Europe with the U.S. Army Band, as a percussionist.
Mr. Terry was a science teacher, physical education director, guidance counselor and principal at Muzzey Junior High School in Lexington, in a career that spanned more than 30 years.
He was a percussionist with the Colonial Players in Reading and was involved in their musical productions over several decades. Most recently, he was a member and percussionist in the Barnstable Town Band and the Cape Cod Conservatory Concert Band.
After retiring to Cape Cod from Lexington, he continued to be active in education, serving as a Mashpee member of the Cape Cod RegionalTechnical High School Committee and assisting in the direction of the Barnstable Drum Line Band.
Mr. Terry took part in many community activities including the Mashpee Charter Committee, and worked on the approval and building of the Mashpee transfer station. He was past president of the New Seabury Men's Club and the New Seabury Peninsula Counsel.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, David Terry of Shirley, Michael Terry of Lynnfield and Philip Terry of Lexington; a brother, H. Pete Terry of Whitefish, Mont.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Waquoit Congregational Church, Route 28, Falmouth.

Jean Zoto, 46

Hyannisport - Jean Zoto, 46, a resident of Hyannisport, died Dec. 20, 2000, at her home after a long illness.
She was the wife of Michael Zoto.
Born in Worcester, she was a graduate of Holy Name High School. She lived in Boylston until 1990, when she moved to Winchendon.
She worked at the Winchendon School Department until 1995 when she moved to Hyannisport.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Daniel; two sisters, Patricia Thomas of Shrewsbury and Carol Troy of Worcester; two brothers, William and Thomas Pechinis of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews.

Olga R. Aittaniemi, 78

West Barnstable - Olga R. (Wiinikainen) Aittaniemi, 78, a retired book assembler, died Jan. 8, 2001, at her home.
She was the wife of Francis A. Aittaniemi for 54 years.
Born in West Barnstable, Mrs. Aittaniemi was a 1941 graduate of Barnstable High School and a member of the First Lutheran Church in West Barnstable.
She served in the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) for two years during World War II.
Following the war, Mrs. Aittaniemi attended Waltham Training School and became a licensed practical nurse.
She worked for 18 years as a book assembler for Priscilla Crane, Crane's Duplicating, retiring in 1981.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Carol A. Darling of Manhattan, Kan.; two sisters, Vilma Lambert and Helmi Viliesis, both of West Barnstable; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Route 6A, West Barnstable, MA 02668; or to the Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.
