Mary R. Crawley, 89

Hyannis - Mary R. Crawley, 89, a registered nurse, died Feb. 5, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Willie Crawley.
Mrs. Crawley was born, raised and educated in Boston. She graduated from the Chicago School of Nursing. After college, she settled in Virginia before moving to Martha's Vineyard. She was a registered nurse for more than 20 years, working at Martha's Vineyard Hospital and Suffolk Hospital in Virginia. She also worked as a private duty nurse.
Mrs. Crawley moved to Hyannis several years ago. She was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church on Martha's Vineyard. She loved gardening.
Surviving are a son, Terry Crawley of Hyannis; four grandchildren; and several family members on the Vineyard.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675; or to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660.

Renee C. Keane, 41

Sanford, Maine - Renee C. Keane, 41, who leaves her parents in Centerville, died unexpectedly Feb. 4, 2001, at her home.
She was the daughter of Gerald F. and Carolyn J. (Avallone) Keane of Centerville.
Born in Boston, she was a resident of Sanford and Cape Cod. She was a graduate of Holliston High School and from Wilfred Academy in Worcester, as a hair stylist.
Surviving besides her parents are a brother, Bradley J. Keane of Webster; her companion, John Frye of Sanford, Maine; and several aunts and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Mary Lou Klebanoff, 81

North Palm Beach, Fla. - Mary Lou (Gilmore) Klebanoff, 81, who spent summers in Hyannis, died Jan. 21, 2001, after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Seymour Klebanoff.
Mrs. Klebanoff earned a bachelor of science degree in nutrition from Iowa State University. She worked at several hospitals as chief dietitian. She raised her children in Ossining, N.Y. In retirement, she and her husband lived in Florida, summering in Hyannis.
Mrs. Klebanoff enjoyed her grandchildren, jazz, and Yale football, and was a member of several bridge clubs.
Surviving are a daughter, Lori Korevec of Congers, N.Y., a son, Harry Klebanoff of Duxbury; and five grandchildren.

Marjorie Warren Brown

Scarsdale, N.Y. ­ Marjorie Warren Brown, a longtime resident of Scarsdale, N.Y. whose daughter summers in Barnstable, died in her home after a long illness Feb. 1, 2001.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Courtney C. Brown, whom she married in 1930.
Born in 1909 in Meriden, Conn., Mrs. Brown was a member of the family that founded in the early 19th century the company that became International Silver. She was one of the original founding partners of Personalized Interiors, which she later ran independently.
Mrs. Brown, past president of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, assisted her husband in his various roles in government, business, and as vice president of Columbia University and dean of the Graduate School of Business.
She was the author of several books, including a history of Abaco Island in the Bahamas. Dr. and Mrs. Brown helped to develop a community library on Abaco and, years earlier, in Armonk, N.Y. She was instrumental in publishing a book of his writings and lectures, Courtney Brown: in Memory.
A golfer of great finesse and precision, she was past women's champion of the Scarsdale Golf Club and a member of the Westchester Fairfield.
She is survived by two daughters, Roxanne Warren of New York City and Joanne Lyman of New York City and Barnstable; a son, Dr. Courtney Warren Brown of Denver; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Clarence P. Nobre, 84

Hyannis - Clarence P. Nobre, 84, of Hyannis, died Feb. 2, 2001, at his home after a sudden illness.
He was the husband of Mary L. (Martin) Nobre, who died in 1988.
Mr. Nobre was born, raised and educated in Falmouth. He served in the Army during World War II. He was married in 1940 and settled in Falmouth. After the war, Mr. Nobre moved to West Barnstable, where he and his wife raised their family. Mr. Nobre worked for many years at Otis Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic, retiring in 1971. He relocated to Hyannis in 1985.
Surviving are four sons, Robert and William Nobre of Hyannis, Michael Nobre of Centerville, and Randy Nobre of Yarmouth; a daughter, Shirley Hebert of West Yarmouth; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Wayne Nobre.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

William H. Ogg, 64

Mashpee - William H. Ogg, 64, a Cape resident since 1978, died Feb. 4, 2001, at his home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Jacqueline M. (Stringi) Ogg of Greenbrae, Calif.
Born in Burlington, Mr. Ogg moved to East Sandwich in 1978. The same year he opened his business, Oggi Hair Design, in Osterville. He later moved to Mashpee.
Mr. Ogg retired in 2000. He enjoyed collecting art, traveling and spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, William A. Ogg of Boston; a daughter, Jennifer M. Ogg of Larkspur, Calif.; two sisters, Elizabeth Melanson of Burlington and Barbara O'Rourke of Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Eleanor L. Starck, 70

Glencliff, N.H. - Eleanor L. Starck, 70, formerly of the Cape, died Jan. 18, 2001, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, N.H.
Born and raised in Centerville, she was a graduate of Barnstable High School and worked in the former Grants Department Store in Hyannis for many years.
She was a member of the South Congregational Church in Centerville.
Miss Starck moved to Louden, N.H. and later to Glencliff, N.H.
She is survived by a sister, Frances A. Lada of Lincoln, R.I., and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth Eva Whitney, 83

Barnstable ­ Ruth Eva (Denison) Whitney, 83, died Feb. 4, 2001, of lymphoma at the Hospice House in Barnstable.
She was the wife of the late Sceva "Ski" Whitney for 40 years.
Born in Pittsfield, Mrs. Whitney graduated from North Adams State Teachers College and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in New Ashford for a year. She worked at General Electric in New York City before her marriage
Mrs. Whitney lived in Framingham for 20 years before moving to West Yarmouth, Hyannis and the New Jersey communities of Morris Plains, West Englewood and Middletown.
A woman of great faith, she was active in several churches, most recently the Evangelical Baptist Church in South Yarmouth. She put her faith into action by visiting prisons, working in thrift shops, tutoring children, and welcoming the needy into her home.
She is survived by a daughter, Jill April Broughton of South Bend, Ind.; a son, Albert Whitney of Concord, N.C.; two sisters, Muriel Jenks of Northhampton and Lois McRell of Yarmouthport; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert "Buddy" Denison and Roger Denison, and three sisters, Etta Mae Nelson, Dorothy Sincere, and Virginia Olsen.
Mrs. Whitney's body has been donated to Harvard Medical School. A memorial service will be held March 17 at 3 p.m. at the Evangelical Baptist Church in South Yarmouth.

Arthur S. Williams, 73

Cotuit - Arthur S. Williams, 73, a Navy veteran, died Feb. 7, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a tree he was cutting down fell on top of him.
He was the husband of Janet R. (Fish) Williams.
Born in Boston, Mr. Williams was raised and educated in Falmouth schools. He was a graduate of the Wentworth Institute in Boston and served in the Navy during World War II.
He was a resident of Illinois and Wisconsin, and moved to Cotuit in 1986.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles M. Williams of Naperville, Ill.; three daughters, Susan L. Williams of Hillsboro, Ore., Barbara A. Williams of Pewaukee, Wis., and Terry F. Sneep of Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Nancy W. Chute of Hatchville and Mary W. Wright of Farmington, Maine; 13 grandchildren; and one great grandson.
A memorial service will be held in the summer.
