W. William Spencer, 80

Marstons Mills - W. William Spencer, 80, a Cape resident since 1986, died March 24, 2001, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Geraldine E. (Kuplast) Spencer for 60 years.
Born in Foxboro, Mr. Spencer was educated in Foxboro schools and graduated from Basic Engineering School in Gulfport, Miss. He was a machinist and worked for the Foxboro Co. for 32 years until his retirement.
A World War II Navy veteran, he served in the Asia-Pacific theater on the USS Custer, which deployed Marines to the island of Kyushu, Japan, in preparation for the invasion of Japan.
Mr. Spencer was a resident of Mansfield for 40 years and moved to Marstons Mills in 1986. He enjoyed his summers at a beach cottage on Buttermilk Bay in Bourne for 34 years.
An avid gardener, he also enjoyed fishing and boating.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Gayle P. Crisp of Dennisport; a sister, Eunice Strang of Wrentham; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also the father of the late Gerald W. Spencer and the late Carolyn J. Andrews.
A memorial service was held at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills. Burial will be at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660.

Paul Taylor, 48

Harwich - Paul Taylor, 48, a resident of Harwich, died unexpectedly March 21, 2001, in Brewster.
Born in Hyannis, Mr. Taylor was educated in Barnstable schools and attended East Coast Aero Tech. He founded TCI Construction in Orleans and traveled extensively doing construction for major corporations.
His passion and hobby were his children and motorcycles.
He is survived by his four children, Jake, Spangle, Coty and Danielle; his parents, James J. and Pauline (Nickerson) Taylor of Hyannis and Florida; a brother, Jim Taylor of Hyannis; a sister, Susan Taylor-Hughes of Mashpee; and his companion, Vere Murphy of Brewster.
A memorial service was held at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills. Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Children of Paul Taylor, c/o Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, 1620 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632.

Frank J. Weglarz, 83

Chatham - Frank Joseph Weglarz, 83, formerly of Hyannis, died March 21, 2001, at Liberty Commons in Chatham.
He was the husband of the late Nellie T. (Galuszka) Weglarz, whom he married in 1948.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Weglarz was raised and educated in Grazier, Pa. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II in the Pacific theater, mainly in the Philippines and Hawaii.
Mr. Weglarz was a resident of Hartford and Rocky Hill, Conn., before retiring to Cape Cod in 1981. He worked for the Hartford Fire Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1980.
A communicant of S.S. Cyril and Methodius Church, St. James Church and lastly St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, he was also a former treasurer of the Polish Falcons in Pennsylvania and a member of the Polish Club of Cape Cod and the Islands.
Surviving are two daughters, Louise J. Weglarz of Osterville and Elaine R. Allessio of Waterbury, Conn.; and a grandson.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at the Rose Hill Funeral Home in Rocky Hill, Conn.
Memorial donations may be made to the Residents Council, Liberty Commons Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, 389-391 Orleans Road, North Chatham, MA 02650.

August O. Aubrey, 76

Centerville - August O. Aubrey, 76, a resident of Centerville, died March 31, 2001, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
He was the husband of Louise E. (Tavares) Aubrey, who died in1985.
Mr. Aubrey was born in Rochester and grew up in the New Bedford area
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper in the OSS. He took part in sabotage missions behind German lines in southern France, and other missions in Hanoi, French Indochina; Kunming, China; and Bombay, India. In 1946, he received the Soldier's Medal and was honored for "heroic actions and services."
Mr. Aubrey moved to Cape Cod in 1946, and started the wholesale fruit business that became Country Gardens of Hyannis. He sold the business in 1966 and became a self-employed carpenter and contractor.
Mr. Aubrey was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed boating and woodworking.
Surviving are a son, Jonathan Aubrey of Centerville; a daughter, Jennifer Aubrey of Florida; two sisters, Anita Labadie of Centerville and Aurore Lawrence of Virginia; a granddaughter, Ashley Wegiel of Florida; three nieces; and two nephews.
A graveside service was held at Mosswood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may he made to the Cape Cod Artificial Kidney Center, 241 Willow St., Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Justin M. Cirrone Sr., 79

Osterville - Justin M. Cirrone Sr., 79, formerly of Natick, died April 2, 2001, in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
He was the husband of Louise (Casaccio) Cirrone for 56 years.
Mr. Cirrone was born in East Boston and lived in Saugus until moving to Natick in 1959, where he resided until moving to Osterville in 1999
Mr. Cirrone was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps during World War II.
In 1976, he co-founded JC Plumbing Inc., retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Boston Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 12 for more than 40 years.
He was also a resident of Deerfield Beach, Fla.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Justin Jr. and Dennis, both of Framingham, and Philip of Natick; a daughter, Marguerite Colby of North Andover; a sister, Mary Izzo of East Boston; four brothers, Albert of California, Frank of Burlington, Salvatore of North Reading. and Charles of Billerica; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held in St. James the Great Church, Wellesley, with burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75244; or to the Shriners Burn Center, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.

Margaret Catherine Crowell, 74

Osterville - Margaret Catherine (Lebel) Crowell, 74, of Osterville, died March 5, 2001, in the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville following a long illness.
Mrs. Crowell was born in Hyannis and graduated from Barnstable High School.
She was a homemaker and amateur artist. Her major interests were her children and her natural surroundings. A lifelong resident of Cape Cod, she had an avid love of the land and ocean, which was reflected in her many paintings.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville. For many years, she taught Christian doctrine classes at the church in Osterville as well as in Marstons Mills. She also helped organize and coach a Catholic Youth Organization basketball team.
Surviving are four sons, William Kelly Crowell Jr. of Hyannisport, Michael P. Crowell of Denver, Colo., Kevin P. Crowell of Las Vegas, Nev., and John L. Crowell of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Ann Crowell Zhang of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Maggie Crowell-Murray of Southbridge; three brothers, Jack Lebel, Jim Lebel and Paul Lebel; a sister, Marie Aylmer; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Steven F. Crowell.
A memorial Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Osterville. Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coalition for Buzzards Bay, 17 Hamilton St., New Bedford, MA 02740; to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Wianno Ave., Osterville, MA 02655; or to any Cape and islands conservation group.

Evelyn (Palme) Eastwood

Hyannis ­ Evelyn (Palme) Eastwood died March 16, 2001, at the Pavilion.
Born in New Bedford, she and her late husband, Thomas T. Eastwood, earned fine arts degrees from Pratt Institute in New York, where they lived for many years pursuing their painting careers. They moved permanently to Hyannis in the late 1940s and continued painting, while also engaged in creating ropework gifts, supplying speciality shops throughout the East. Mrs. Eastwood also had several gallery showings of their paintings over the years.
Until recent years, Mrs. Eastwood was an active member of The International Society for Philosophical Enquiry.
She is survived by her older sister, Florence Payne, and many nieces and nephews, and by her dear friend of many years, Susan Godoy. She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Guyer Barn Gallery in Hyannis.

Marla Jean Hathaway, 50

Los Angeles - Marla Jean Hathaway, 50, a resident of Chatsworth, Calif., formerly of Wareham, Falmouth and Hyannis, died unexpectedly March 31, 2001, at Henry Mayo Hospital in Los Angeles.
She was the daughter of Joseph W. and Pauline (Evenson) Hathaway of Buzzards Bay.
Born in Wareham, Ms. Hathaway graduated from Wareham High School in 1969 and lived in Falmouth and Hyannis before moving to California five years ago.
She was a licensed hairdresser and a self-taught photographer. She worked on movie sets for the last five years in Hollywood.
Besides her parents, she is survived by three daughters, Tammy Boone of Jacksonville, Fla., Dawn M. Jenney of Buzzards Bay and Heather Smolinsky of Falmouth; three brothers, Jeffrey and Ben Hathaway, both of Wareham, and Glenn Hathaway of Ashburnham; a sister, Lisa Hathaway of West Wareham; a close friend, Mike Lovejoy of Chatsworth, Calif.; six grandchildren; three aunts; an uncle; and nephews and nieces.
A memorial service was held at the Stott, Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Wareham.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
