Helen M. Troop

Boston - Helen M. Troop, a former resident of Marstons Mills for 25 years, died Nov. 28, 2001, at Hammond Point Rehab in Chestnut Hill after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Hobart Troop.
A graduate of Melrose High School, she attended Salem Normal School.
Surviving are a brother; seven sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was buried beside her husband in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Lloyd E. Allen, Jr., 55

Wellesley ­ Lloyd E. Allen, Jr., 55 died Dec. 6 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was the son of Jane M. (Macdonald) Allen of Centerville and the late Lloyd E. Allen III.
Mr. Allen is survived also by a sister, Candace A. Crowley, of Wellesley; two brothers, Richard D. of Cohassett and Christopher S. of Duxbury; and his loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the Pilgrim Church in Duxbury.
Interment was private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Allen's memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund, One Harvard St., Brookline MA 02146-97955.

Lorraine Coates, 55

South Yarmouth - Lorraine (Brunelle) Coates, 55, a resident of South Yarmouth and formerly of Hyannis, died Dec. 10, 2001, after a long illness.
Born in Worcester, Mrs. Coates was raised in Hyannis and attended Barnstable High School.
As a waitress, Mrs. Coates worked in various restaurants on Cape Cod.
She was a longtime resident of Hyannis, until moving to South Yarmouth two months ago.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, David Coates of Hyannis; two daughters, Judi Thibodeau of South Yarmouth and Kathy Coates of Hyannis; two brothers, John Brunelle of Hyannis and Harold Brunelle of Centerville; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.

Robert W. Cogan, 74

Osterville - Robert W. Cogan, 74, a resident of Osterville and formerly of Falmouth, died Dec. 12, 2001, at his home.
He was the husband of Maureen (Prendeville) Cogan of Osterville.
Born in Woburn and raised in Stoneham, Mr. Cogan was a Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific during World War II.
He worked as a claims adjuster for several insurance companies, and later in maintenance for several apartment complexes.
After his retirement, he was a part-time caretaker for the Falmouth Jewish Congregation.
Mr. Cogan lived in Westboro and was a resident of Falmouth for 15 years, moving to Osterville two years ago.
He was commander of the American Legion Battery March Post 431 in Boston and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Westboro.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Robyn Cogan of Osterville; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
He was also the father of the late Linda Santino.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to the Congestive Heart Failure Program, Cape Cod Hospital Care Management, 184A Jones Road, Falmouth, MA 02540.

James D. Fisher

Naples, Fla. - James D. Fisher, formerly of Hyannis, died Dec. 8, 2001.
Mr. Fisher graduated from the Rivers School in Weston and from Brown University in Providence, R.I.
He was an Army veteran who served in Korea.
He worked many years in the advertising business in New York City prior to moving to Cape Cod in 1971.
Mr. Fisher moved to Naples in 1993, where he became active in community service.
Surviving are a son, James D. Fisher III of Naples; two daughters, Elizabeth Oh of Bedford, Texas , and Judith Newton of Holden; and three granddaughters.
Memorial donations may be made to the Christian Children's Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294.

Stanley T. Johnson, 97

Osterville - Stanley T. Johnson, 97, a resident of Osterville and formerly of Newton, died Dec. 9, 2001, at Mayflower Place Nursing Home in West Yarmouth.
He was the husband of Grace (Hardy) Johnson, who died in 1995. They were married for 61 years.
Born in Naugatuck, Conn., Mr. Johnson earned an engineering degree from Yale University in 1926.
He was the sole proprietor of the Transmission Engineering Co. in Newton for more than 30 years.
In retirement, he was active in the Vasa Lodge in Hyannis and started the Swedish language program for the Barnstable Adult Education Program.
He was a member of West Parish Congregational Church and its choir.
He was also a member of Osterville Men's Club, serving as membership chairman.
Surviving are a son, Stanley T. Johnson Jr. of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; a daughter, Win Murray of Stilwell, Kan.; a sister, Doris Rasmussen of Naugatuck, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at the West Parish Congregational Church in West Barnstable.
Burial is private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Organ Fund of West Parish, P.O. Box 219, West Barnstable, MA 02668.

Marilyn Scudder Russell, 75

Lima, Ohio - Marilyn Scudder Russell, 75, died November 27, 2001 in Lima where she had lived near two of her daughters since 1999.
Ms. Russell was born in Middleboro, grew up in Cotuit and was a graduate of Barnstable High School, class of 1944.
She lived in Hyannis for many years and was a certified nursing assistant specializing in private duty nursing.
She enjoyed oil painting, sewing, traveling, and was an avid reader.
She loved life and enjoyed it to its fullest.
Survivors include three daughters, Mille Gast of Lima; Karen Basel of Toledo, Ohio, and Connie Pinkney of Hyannis.
She also leaves a brother, Edson F. Scudder, and two sisters-in-law in Cotuit, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Lima. Burial will be in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Elizabeth W. 'Betty' Sullivan, 84

Hyannis - Elizabeth W. "Betty" Sullivan, 84, a resident of Hyannis, died Dec. 4, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Born in Osterville, Mrs. Sullivan lived on Cape Cod for most of her life.
She worked as a secretary for Puritan Clothing for many years.
She loved birds, cribbage and gardening.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Towns of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Elder Services of Cape Cod, 68 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660.
