Althea Dexter Perkins, 102

Centerville - Althea Dexter (Elwell) Perkins, 102, a resident of Centerville since 1972, died Feb. 11, 2002, at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville.
Born in Gloucester, Maine, Mrs. Perkins lived her childhood years in Auburn, Maine, and Gloucester. She worked as a cafeteria helper in the Brockton school system for many years.
While in Brockton, she played the violin with the Brockton Orchestral Society.
Upon her retirement, she moved to Centerville, where she made her home with her daughter, Audrey Anderson, and was able to enjoy the companyof her grandchildren.
She was a member of the South Congregational Church and helped often in their thrift shop. She stayed very active until her mid-90s.
Surviving are her daughter, Audrey P. Anderson of Centerville; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also the mother of the late Frederick Perkins, Jr.

Alice E. Salisbury, 91

Centerville - Alice E. (Henderson) Salisbury, 91, a resident of Centerville, died Feb. 10, 2002, at Cape Cod Regency Nursing Home in Centerville.
She was the wife of the late William Salisbury.
Born in Edmonton, England, Mrs. Salisbury moved to Hyannis in 1959.
She worked as a housekeeper for Heritage House in Hyannis and as a nurse's aide at the Hyannis Nursing Home.
She was an avid Bingo player and a member of the British American Club.
She is survived by a son, David Steward of New Britain, Conn.; three daughters, Rita A. Meuse of Hyannis, and Beryl Fisher and Frances Murray, both of Edmonton, England; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held in Beechwood Cemetery in Centerville.
Memorial donations may be made to Residents' Fund, Captain Eldredge House, 30 Pine Ave., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Ralph L. Simpson, 78

Hyannis - Ralph L. Simpson, 78, a resident of Hyannis, died Feb. 15, 2002, at the Providence VA Hospital after a brief illness.
Born, raised and educated in Brockton, Mr. Simpson lived there for many years and moved to Falmouth in the 1970s. From Falmouth, he moved to Hyannis in the 1990s.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served during World War II. He received the Bronze Star and Presidential Citation.
Mr. Simpson worked as an X-ray technologist at Carney Hospital in South Boston, the VA Hospital in Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury and at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, retiring in the mid-1980s.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was founder of the Falmouth Memorial Chapel 81, DAV, and commander of the DAV Boston VA Hospital and Falmouth Memorial Chapter 81.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Jane Obuchowski of Centerville; and several nieces and a nephew.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Dawn A. Speroni, 33

Hyannis - Dawn A. Speroni, 33, a resident of Hyannis and recently of Falmouth, died Feb. 11, 2002, at home after a long illness.
Miss Speroni was born in Milford and moved to Falmouth at age 3. She attended Falmouth schools and graduated from Falmouth High School. She worked at the Christmas Tree Shops, Kappy's Liquor Store and Family Foods, all in Falmouth. Miss Speroni lived most of her life in Falmouth until moving to Hyannis in December 2001.
She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church of Falmouth.
Surviving are her parents, Michael L. and Candace L. (Nelson) Speroni of Falmouth; a sister, Robin L. Carreiro of Mashpee; three brothers, Kevin M. Speroni of Des Moines, Iowa, Shawn M. Speroni and Jason M. Speroni, both of Falmouth; her paternal grandmother, Rita Speroni of Milford; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was held in St. Patrick's Church in Falmouth.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02108.

Gregory Lee Tallman, 67

Hyannis - Gregory Lee Tallman, 67, a veteran of the Korean War, died Feb. 15, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness.
He was the husband of Constance (Carver) Tallman for 47 years.
Born in Hyannis, Mr. Tallman grew up in Osterville and attended Barnstable High School, where he was a member of the 1951 football team.
During the Korean War, he served with the Marine Corps.
For 45 years, he worked at the Cape Cod Times, working in the composing room.
He enjoyed fishing and collecting baseball cards.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Stephen J. Tallman of Hyannis and Robert L. Tallman of Nantucket; three daughters, Terri Corbett of Centerville, Donna Poulin of Standish, Maine and Carol Stolnacke of Wellfleet; and four grandchildren.
Donations may be made to Cape Cod Hospital, Cardiac Care Center, 4 Bayview St., Hyannis, MA, 02601.

Nell Baldwin Tripp, 96

Needham - Nell Baldwin Tripp, 96, a resident of Needham and Osterville, died Feb. 8, 2002.
She was the wife of William Vandervoort Tripp, Jr., who died in 1982. They were married in 1935.
Born and raised in Chestnut Hill, Mrs. Tripp lived there until 1985. She graduated from the Windsor School in 1923. She spent two years at Miss Wright's School in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Redeemer. She served on the vestry of the church, was president of the Church Service League and served on the altar guild.
Mrs. Tripp was a summer member of St. Peter's Church in Osterville.
She volunteered at Deaconess Hospital and served as president of the board of the Dedham Temporary Home for Women and Children, formerly Chickering House, and for many years on its board.
Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor November and Frances Hawkey; two sons, William V. Tripp III and James T.B. Tripp; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Church of the Redeemer, 379 Hammond St., Chestnut Hill.
Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Redeemer, Chestnut Hill, MA 02167; to the Windsor School, Pilgrim Road, Boston, MA 02215; or to St. Peter's Church, Osterville, MA 02655.

Ernest Bliudnikas, 94

Centerville - Ernest Bliudnikas, 94, of Centerville, died Feb. 23, 2002, at his home following a brief illness.
He was the husband of Teofila (Mecius) Bliudnikas, who died in 1993.
Mr. Bliudnikas was born and raised in Birzai, Lithuania, and attended local schools in Belza before graduating from the Lithuanian Military Academy in 1931. He was appointed to the Lithuanian Army general staff in Kaunas. During World War II, he was promoted to the rank of major and commanded a Lithuanian field infantry battalion.
From 1946 to 1949, he served for the U.S. Army of Occupation in general post-war reconstruction in Germany.
In 1949, Mr. Bliudnikas emigrated to the United States. He lived in Brockton for 24 years before moving to Centerville in 1972. While living in Brockton, Mr. Bliudnikas was employed as senior mechanical engineer at Alden Products, where he worked on weather satellite and sonar recording systems for the U.S. Weather Service and the military, and held patents for his inventions.
Mr. Bliudnikas was past president of the Lithuanian-American Community, and was an accomplished painter.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and sculpting as well as home improvement projects.
Surviving are two sons, Kestutis Bliudnikas of North Grafton and Vytautas Bliudnikas of East Sandwich; a sister, Lucia Baltrenas of Panevezis, Lithuania; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Laime Bliudnikas.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Virginia Foley, 99

Weymouth - Virginia (Bonadies) Foley, 99, formerly of Centerville, died Feb. 16, 2002, at the Pope Nursing Home in Weymouth.
She was the wife of the late John G. Foley for 72 years.
Mrs. Foley was born in Corleto Perticara, Italy, and came to Hartford, Conn., when she was 2. She was educated in the Hartford Public Schools and the Huntsinger Business School. She lived in Hartford from 1927 to 1949, when she moved to West Hartford.
A summer resident of Wellfleet from 1927 to 1960, she later summered in West Hyannisport until moving to Centerville year-round in the mid-1980s. She moved to Weymouth in 1999.
Mrs. Foley was a communicant of the Church of St. Helena in West Hartford and Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. An avid gardener, she was especially fond of growing roses. Upon her retirement, she traveled extensively throughout Europe and made yearly trips to Spain.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Murdock of Agawam and Sandra Barker of Hingham; a sister, Mary Zaremba of West Hartford; a brother, Robert Bonadies of South Windsor, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Virginia Helwig.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of St. Helena in West Hartford. Burial followed in St. Ann's Cemetery in Avon.
Memorial donations may be made to Hyannis Public Library, 401 Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601.
