Calebe Freitas, 15

Hyannis - Calebe Freitas, 15, a resident of Hyannis, died March 2, 2002, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Calebe was born in Governador Valadares, Brazil, and was living in Hyannis, attending Barnstable High School.
He was a great lover of soccer and basketball, and was a member of the Brazilian Assembly of God Church. He loved to sing with his cousins in their group, called Joyful Heart. Calebe was employed at Domino's Pizza, where he had many friends and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his father, Jose A. Freitas; his mother, Deuselina Miranda Freitas; his maternal grandparents, Joaquina Miranda and Joel Miranda; his paternal grandmother, Maria L. Freitas; his sister, Maressa M. Freitas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral was held at the Brazilian Assembly of God Church in Hyannis, followed by burial in Oak Neck Cemetery.

Emanuel E. Harper, 94

Centerville - Emanuel E. Harper, 94, a Centerville resident since 1971, died Feb. 25, 2002, at Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sandwich.
He was the husband of the late Lucille (Arons) Harper.
Born in New York City, Mr. Harper graduated from Flushing High School in 1922 and attended Columbia University.
Mr. Harper was the first employee of Random House in New York City and worked there for 45 years until retiring as director and treasurer in 1970.
During World War II, he volunteered as an orderly at White Plains Hospital and was a shift supervisor for Westchester Air Defense Warning Center, a shift supervisor of Air Defense Command of the Ground Observer Corp. and a member of the Scarsdale Ambulance Corps.
He served on the grand jury from 1962 to 1963 in the U.S. District Court in New York.
Mr. Harper moved to Centerville in 1971. He became a member of the Consumers Assistance Council and was a member of the Service Corps of Retired Executives, or SCORE, and past chairman of its Cape Cod chapter.
He was treasurer of the Cape Cod chapter of the American Red Cross for 20 years and treasurer of Individual & Family Care Service. He was also a member of the town of Barnstable Audit Advisory Committee for five years.
Mr. Harper also belonged to the Osterville Men's Club and the Osterville Bowling League and volunteered for the Cape Cod Hospital Foundation.
He is survived by a son, Donald Harper of East Sandwich; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, N.Y.

Constance Lind, 93

Osterville - Constance "Connie" (St. Onge) Lind, 93, a resident of Osterville, died Feb. 23, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Ralph Lind.
Mrs. Lind was a longtime resident of Osterville and a 40-year member of the Osterville Garden Club, serving as treasurer for many years.
She was an avid collector of friends and enjoyed life on Cape Cod.
Surviving are her brother, Harold St. Onge of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two caregivers, Cynthia and Elaine Monroe of New York City.
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Peter D. Nagorniuk, 57

South Casco, Maine - Peter Dimitri Nagorniuk, 57, a resident of South Casco and formerly of Hyannis, died unexpectedly Feb. 18, 2002, at his home.
He was the husband of Wilma F. (Leonard) Billings since 1989.
Born in Cambridge, Mr. Nagorniuk graduated from Suffolk University in Boston.
He worked in public education for 35 years, holding various positions including teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, principal and social worker. He was the sixth-grade principal in Hyannis for several years.
In 1984, he moved to Bar Harbor, where he was principal of Emerson Connors Elementary School until 1990.
Mr. Nagorniuk and his wife moved from Trenton to Windham and then to South Casco in 1996. At the time of his death, he was employed as the director of instructional programs for S.A.D. 61 in Bridgton.
His interests included cooking, bird-watching, gardening, fishing, traveling and jazz. He was also an avid reader.
Surviving besides his wife are his mother, Anna Nagorniuk of Somerville.; two sons, Mark Nagorniuk of Groton, Conn., and Derek Nagorniuk of Portland; a stepson, Scott Phelps of Southwest Harbor; four grandchildren; and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service was held at Robert E. Laite Funeral Home in Camden, preceded by a visiting hour from noon to 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Camden, in the spring.

Jeanne Marie O'Connell, 88

Osterville - Jeanne Marie (Dubé) O'Connell, 88, a resident of Osterville, died Feb. 24, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Edward J. O'Connell.
Born in Dorchester, Mrs. O'Connell moved to Canada at an early age and then to Queens, N.Y., where she was raised and educated.
She worked in Manhattan for the former McCreery & Stern's Department Stores as a buyer for several years, before leaving to raise her family and becoming a homemaker.
From Queens, Mrs. O'Connell moved to Cincinnati and then to Naples, Fla., in 1977. She moved to Osterville in the early 1990s.
She had been a summer resident of Cape since the early 1950s.
Mrs. O'Connell enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. She was active in the Xavier University Ladies Auxiliary in Cincinnati.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Christopher P. O'Connell of Long Beach, Calif., and Stephen J. O'Connell of Greenwich, Conn.; a sister, Anne R. Dubé of Greenwich, Conn.; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Osterville.
Burial was in St. Agnes Cemetery in Albany, N.Y.

Marie O'Connell, 74

Harwich - Marie (Courtney) O'Connell, 74, a resident of Harwich, died Feb. 25, 2002, at her home.
She was the wife of Daniel F. O'Connell for 54 years.
Born in Winthrop, Mrs. O'Connell graduated from Weymouth High School. She was a longtime resident of West Dennis. Since leaving Dennis, she lived in Marstons Mills, Houston, Texas , Palm Bay, Fla., and Harwich.
Mrs. O'Connell dedicated herself to her family. She was an avid reader and wrote for her personal enjoyment. She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich, and an enthusiastic participant and co-leader of the Spirit of Jesus Prayer Group of Hyannis for the past 22 years.
She was also an eager member of a variety of Bible study groups.
When her children were young, she was a Cub Scout den mother in West Dennis, In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting the library and playing cards.
Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Kathleen T. Bolton of Yarmouthport and Theresa M. Smith of Gasport, N.Y.; four sons, Patrick F. O'Connell of West Yarmouth, Michael T. O'Connell of Palm Bay, Fla., Timothy F. O'Connell of West Yarmouth and Francis D. O'Connell of Dunstable; and two sisters, Muriel Lowery of Wrentham and Joyce Donahue of Carver.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich.
Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Jean Barbara Reid, 77

Hyannis - Jean Barbara (Fieldstad) Reid, 77, a resident of Hyannis and formerly of Worcester and Falmouth, died Feb. 24, 2002, at her home after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Reid.
Born in Worcester, Mrs. Reid graduated from Shrewsbury High School. She was a Cape Cod resident for 30 years.
Surviving are three sons, John B. Scarry of San Francisco, Thomas Reid of Harrisville, R.I., and Kevin F. O'Mara of Bridgewater; five daughters, Mary J. Egan of Dennis, Patricia A. O'Mara of Osterville, Kasey R. Kelly of Weymouth, Peggyann Muir of Manchester, Maine, and Patricia D. Hussey of Saugus; a sister, Lois Spear of Randolph; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

James J. Barron III, 26

New York City - James J. Barron III, 26, who leaves family on Cape Cod, died March 2, 2002, at Cabrini Medical Center in New York City.
Mr. Barron was born in Hyannis. A former resident of Southborough, he graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough in 1993 and from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans in 1997. He was then employed at Archon Group in Irving, Texas , before moving to New York City and working for McManus and Miles. He was currently enrolled in a master's degree program at New York University. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity at Tulane.
Surviving are his parents, Anne (Ingle) Barron of Marlborough and James J. Barron Jr. of West Yarmouth; a sister, Jessica Barron of San Francisco; his paternal grandmother, Eleanor Barron of Pocasset; and several aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Matthew's Church in Southborough. Burial followed in Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
