John A. Stepnik, 87
Hyannis - John A. Stepnik, 87, a resident of Hyannis since 1995, died April 3, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Pavilion.
Mr. Stepnik was born, raised and educated in Taunton. He served in the Army during World War II.
After the war, he lived in Louisville, Ky., and worked for Ford Motor Co. for more than 29 years as an assemblyman.
Mr. Stepnik later moved to Princeton, Ky., and lived there until 1995, when he moved to Hyannis.
He was a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of Moose 5 in Louisville and the American Legion in Kentucky.
Surviving are his daughter, Mary Sue Clifton of Louisville, Ky.; four sisters, Edna Jackman of East Dennis, Mary McLaughlin of Newport Beach, Calif., Sophie Sheehan of Miami, Fla., and Helen Naylor of Hyannis; a brother, Paul Stepnik of Hyannis; and a grandson.
A funeral was held at John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery
in Taunton.
Louis J. Strada, 56
Centerville - Louis J. Strada, 56, died April 6, 2002, at his home.
He was the husband of Carol (Doane) Strada of Centerville.
Mr. Strada was born in White Plains, N.Y. He graduated from Parsippany High School in New Jersey and served in the National Guard in New Jersey for 10 years.
Mr. Strada was terminal manager for Roadway Express for 14 years, distributor for Polar Beverage for 16 years, and at the time of his death, he was a merchandiser for the A&P in South Yarmouth.
Mr. Strada was a member of the Federated Church of Hyannis. He was also an avid sports fan and outdoorsman.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Michael F. Strada of Newton, N.J., Jeffrey J. Strada of Tempe, Ariz., Scott D. Dixon of Centerville and Steven W. Dixon of Marstons Mills; two daughters, Jamie Strada Holbrook of Dennisport and Susan F. Curran of Centerville; his mother, Mabel (Fretwell) Strada of Whippany, N.J.; a brother, Brian L. Strada of Whippany, N.J.; a sister, Brenda A. Thomas of Bedford, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
A funeral was held in Federated Church of Hyannis, with burial in Beechwood Cemetery
in Centerville.

Marion E. 'Mayna' Allen
Osterville - Marion E. "Mayna" (Newman) Allen, a longtime Osterville resident, died April 9, 2002, at Cape Regency Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Francis J. Allen.
Born in Philadelphia and raised and educated in Trenton, N.J., Mrs. Allen worked for a time for New Jersey Child Welfare. After moving to Osterville, she worked at Catherine's and at Ames Electric. In her retirement, she was a bookkeeper.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, word puzzles, all the New England sports teams, bird-watching and spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are two sons, Carl J. Wolsieffer Jr. of Osterville and Eric G. Wolsieffer of Yarmouthport; four daughters, Linda Wolsieffer Witting of Mashpee, G. Jean Pessano and Mardee Brown, both of Ocean City, N.J., and Beth Walters of Marmora, N.J.; a sister, Betty J. Oakley of Freehold, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills.

William J. Coursey, 77
Barnstable - William J. Coursey, 77, a resident of Barnstable and Boyton Beach, Fla., died April 6, 2002, at his home after a brief battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Eileen (Ivons) Coursey.
Mr. Coursey, 77, was born, raised and educated in Medford.
He served in the Army in Guadalcanal during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 269 of Lantana, Fla.; the South Pacific Buddies Association, 1st Battalion, 182nd Infantry; and the American Division Veterans Association.
Mr. Coursey worked as a carpenter for almost 10 years.
He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with the Department of Public Works and the Capitol Police as a police officer from Nov. 1957 to his retirement in Nov. 1981. He retired as an acting captain.
After his retirement, Mr. Coursey and his wife spent many winters in Florida.
Coursey enjoyed fishing, golfing and carpentry.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Coursey of Barnstable and Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Eleanor Boyer of Pala Verdes, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.

Kevin Heap, 56
Buzzards Bay - Kevin Heap, 56, a resident of Buzzards Bay, died April 5, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Mr. Heap was born and raised in Wareham and was a 1963 graduate of Wareham High School.
He attended Northeastern University and Stonehill College. He lived in Wareham until the 1960s when he moved to Buzzards Bay.
He was a lieutenant in the Army for five years, and was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Heap worked for Prudential Life Insurance as a computer programmer.
At the time of his death, Heap was employed by the town of Barnstable as a computer analyst and programmer.
He was an avid fisherman and bird watcher. He also enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include one brother, Leonard Heap of Harwich, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in West Harwich. Burial followed in Island Pond Cemetery
in Harwich.

Anne T. Leonard, 89
Hanover - Anne T. (Foley) Leonard, 89, a resident of Hanover and formerly of Hyannis, died April 11, 2002, at the Beth Israel/Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a short illness.
She was the wife of the late John J. Leonard.
Born in Boston and raised and educated in South Boston, Mrs. Leonard graduated from Boston Girls High School. Until her retirement in 1970, she worked as a secretary at South Boston High School.
Mrs. Leonard lived in Hyannis before moving to Hanover seven years ago. She participated in many senior activities in Hyannis, including bowling and line dancing. For many years, she was a senior citizen travel coordinator in Hyannis.
Surviving are a son, John J. Leonard of Waltham; four daughters, Anne Marie McWilliams of Ellington, Conn., Maureen F. Walker of Hanover, Barbara L. Shea of Quincy and Joanne L. Diamond of Belmont; a brother, Patrick Foley of South Boston; two sisters, Mary Foley of Hyannis and Nora Morrison of Quincy; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church in Hanover, with burial in Hanover Center Cemetery.

Daniel H. Lucking, 86
Scarsdale, N.Y. - Daniel H. Lucking, 86, a resident of Scarsdale and Osterville, died April 7, 2002.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Whelan) Lucking. They were married for more than 50 years.
A native of Detroit, Mr. Lucking was a graduate of the University of Detroit and attended Northwestern University Graduate School of Business. In the late 1930s, he was Midwest advertising manager for Philco Radio in Detroit.
In 1941, he joined the FBI and served 33 years, retiring in 1974. In the late 1950s, he was the senior FBI agent in charge of the FBI's Yonkers, Westchester County, N.Y., office. For much of his career, he was based in the FBI's New York office and worked in the fields of intelligence and counterespionage.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel H. Lucking Jr. of Holliston, and John T. Lucking of Hinsdale, Ill.; a daughter, Marjorie E. Lucking of Hawthorne, N.Y.; and a brother, Edward Lucking of Sun City, Fla.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Scarsdale.
Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery
in Mount Pleasant, N.Y..
Mary H. Metz
Hyannis - Mary H. Metz, a resident of Hyannis, died unexpectedly April 10, 2002, at her home.
She was the wife of Lester G. Metz, who died in 1972.
Mrs. Metz was born Avoca, Pa., and lived in Harding and Longwood Gardens, Penn., before moving to Hyannis in 1973.
She was a longtime employee of the Sign O' the Whaler gift shop on Main Street in Hyannis.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her many friends.
Survivors include a son, Donald J. Metz of Hyannis; a daughter, Shirley M. Anderson of Hyannis; a grandson; and a niece.
