Warren E. Titus, 78

Marstons Mills - Warren E. Titus, 78, a resident of Marstons Mills and Wolfeboro, N.H., formerly of Needham, died June 30, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Nancy (Brown) Titus.
Mr. Titus was born and raised in Dedham and attended the Dedham schools. He graduated from the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University. He was an Army Air Force veteran and served in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Titus worked for the Bank of Boston in Boston, retiring after a 40-year career as vice president.
He served for many years on the Board of National Governors of the USO, making many trips to Washington , D.C. He was past president of the Boston office of the USO as well.
From 1960 to 1974, he served as treasurer of the New England report of Project Hope, the world's first peacetime hospital ship.
He was a Shriner and a member of the Nehoiden Lodge of Masons in Needham.
Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Diane Risko of Hingham and Amy Broderick of Hopedale; and four grandchildren.
Memorial service were held at the Federated Church in Hyannis.

Natalie Walters Baldwin, 80

Centerville - Natalie Walters Baldwin, 80, a resident of Centerville, died June 29, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Facility Pavilion.
She was the wife of John W. Baldwin.
Mrs. Baldwin was born in Lynn. She attended Duke University and graduated from New York University. She worked in advertising for many years.
She was employed as a copywriter for Sibly, Lindsay and Curr Department Store and also as a copywriter for Higbee and Halley Department Store.
Mrs. Baldwin moved to Cape Cod in 1990 and retired to Centerville, where she lived until her death. While on Cape Cod, she worked for Murphy Real Estate Co. for several years. She was a longtime member of The Beach Club and was active with the Massachusetts Women's Republican Club. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her love of family.
Besides her husband, survivors include a son, John Mark Baldwin of Georgetown; a daughter, Noel Walters Baldwin of Bridgeport, Conn.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held in the Unitarian Church of Barnstable.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Charles 'Charlie' Douglass, 60

Hyannis - Charles "Charlie" Douglass, 60, a resident of Hyannis, died June 27, 2002, at home after an extended illness.
Well known in his community for a gentle nature and great smile, he was born in Manchester, N.H., and educated in the Paul Dever School. A Cape resident for approximately 35 years, he lived in Brewster, South Yarmouth and Hyannis.
He attended Nauset Inc. Community Connections and the Mid-Cape Habilitation Assistance Corporation Program.
Active in the Special Olympics, he enjoyed swimming, bowling and long walks.
Survivors include his guardians, Mary Butler-Minor and Jack Loughman; and many friends, fellow residents of Nauset Inc.; and fellow participants at Mid-Cape Habilitation Assistance Corp.; and many friends in the community.
A memorial service was held at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis, with a reception following at Our Lady of Victory Parish Center in Centerville.
Memorial donations may be made to Nauset Inc., 895 Mary Dunn Road, Hyannis, MA 02601; or to Habilitation Assistance Corp., 209 Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Albert H. Hinckley Jr., 83

Centerville - Albert H. Hinckley Jr., 83, a resident of Centerville, died July 3, 2002, at his home.
He was the husband of Martha "Marty" (Cloutier) Hinckley.
Mr. Hinckley was born in New Bedford and raised and educated in Wareham. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific and European theaters, as well as aboard the USS Harry Lee, which transported troops and passengers.
After the war, Mr. Hinckley settled in Milford and worked for Massachusetts Electric for many years, retiring in the mid-1980s. He was a seasonal resident of Harwich and moved there after his retirement. He had been a resident of Centerville and Naples, Fla., for the past four years.
Mr. Hinckley was an avid boater, enjoyed fishing, golf, being near the water, and especially enjoyed people and animals.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Albert H. Hinckley III of Atkinson, N.H.; four step-daughters, Judith LeFrancois of Tiverton, R.I., Diane Cloutier of South Yarmouth and Bonita Springs, Fla., Amanda Hronek of Mashpee and Lori Glen of Bonita Springs; a brother, Harry Hinckley of Bourne; two sisters, Lydia Smith of Wareham and Emma Zora of Marion; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Needy Fund, c/o Cape Cod Times, 319 Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Tony Kroeber, 41

Cummaquid - Tony Kroeber, 41, a resident of Cummaquid, died July 4, 2002, at his home after a 34-year struggle with diabetes.
Born in Boston, he lived in San Francisco before moving to Cape Cod to live with his grandparents. His grandfather taught him lobstering, a family tradition, which he continued after graduating from Barnstable High School.
In 1999, Mr. Kroeber graduated from Cape Cod Community College and became a registered nurse. He worked in construction also.
He was very fond of his Siberian huskies, Sable and Mohawk.
Survivors include his parents, Jean Kroeber and Bernd Kroeber of Germany; his grandmother, Lillian Santilhano of Newton; two aunts and an uncle.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations be made to the Barnstable Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 94, Barnstable, MA 02630.

Irene Liacopoulos, 75

West Barnstable - Irene (Vitoratos) Liacopoulos, 75, a resident of West Barnstable, died July 7, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness with Parkinson's disease.
She was the wife of Christos Liacopoulos of West Barnstable.
Born in Greece, she later moved to Canada, where she married and started her family. She moved to the United States with her family in 1968. She was a resident of Melrose for approximately 25 years.
Mrs. Liacopoulos and her husband lived in West Barnstable for the past seven years with their daughter, son-in-law and three granddaughters. Besides her husband, survivors include three sons, George Liacopoulos of Arlington, Va., Bob Liacopoulos of Needham and Nick Liacopoulos of Arlington, Va.; a daughter, Angela Panney of West Barnstable; two brothers, Nicholas Vitoratos and Memas Vitoratos, both of Greece; a sister, Eleni Gross of Greece; and five grandchildren.
A funeral was held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, with burial in Mosswood Cemetery.

Gilbert D. 'Gil' Macomber, 90

West Yarmouth - Gilbert D. "Gil" Macomber, 90, a resident of West Yarmouth, died July 8, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Lena (Monroe) Macomber and of the late Alta (MacGregor) Macomber.
A resident of West Yarmouth for most of his life, Mr. Macomber was born in Mattapoisett and attended Fairhaven schools.
A Navy veteran, he was a chief motor machinist's mate in World War II from 1942 to 1945, serving in the Seabee's 8th Battalion. He saw active duty in the Aleutian Islands, Pearl Harbor and Iwo Jima.
Mr. Macomber moved to Cape Cod as a young adult, and worked many years as a mechanic for Cape Motors, Moore Motors and Airport Motors. In 1972, he retired from Airport Motors in Hyannis, where he was a service manager. He was also a short-order cook at Bill Cox's Seagrill in West Yarmouth for many years.
He was an honorary life member of Howard Lodge AF&AM of South Yarmouth, where he was past master and the oldest member in age until his death. He was also past patron of Mattacheese Chapter O.E.S. and attended West Yarmouth Congregational Church.
He was an avid cribbage player all his adult life.
Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Ann (Macomber) Ryan of West Yarmouth and Ocala, Fla.; a stepson, David P. Monroe of Yarmouthport; two sisters, Addie Stevens of New Bedford and Julia Bowman of Mattapoisett; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was also the stepfather of the late Howard B. Monroe Jr.
Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at West Yarmouth Congregational Church on Route 28.

William Joseph McLaughlin

Marstons Mills - William Joseph McLaughlin of Marstons Mills died July 12, 2002, following a long illness.
He was the husband of Patricia F. (O'Meara) McLaughlin for 55 years.
Mr. McLaughlin was born in Boston. He attended CMTC in Ft. McKinley, Maine, and joined the 110th Calvary Mass National Guard in 1937. He was a World War II veteran who served from 1941 to 1945, earning the Silver Star for bravery. He was a founding member and past Commander of the William G. Walsh Post in Dorchester.
Mr. McLaughlin graduated from Harvard University in 1949. Following graduation, he worked as a self-employed salesman in the paper products industry throughout the Northeast. He retired to Cape Cod in 1985.
A resident of Dorchester for more than 20 years, he also lived for many years in Milton and had resided in Marstons Mills for the past 10 years.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Daniel of Berkley; seven daughters, Patricia of Milton, Ann of Falmouth, Elizabeth of Cohasset, Barbara of Wisconsin, Mary of Georgia, and Meghan and Sheilah McLaughlin, both of Maine; a sister, Rita McCabe of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Christ the King Church in Mashpee. Burial followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
