Serge Nicholas McKhann, 64

Osterville - Serge Nicholas McKhann, 64, a resident of Fall River and formerly of Osterville, died July 12, 2002, at the Highlander Nursing Home in Fall River.
Mr. McKhann was born in Boston. He was a 1960 graduate of Harvard University and worked as a marine sales representative for NETSEA.
He was a resident of Osterville until February of this year, when he moved to Fall River. He was a past member of the Wianno Yacht Club in Osterville.
Survivors include his former wife, Mary McKhann of Waitsfield, Vt.; a daughter, Dr. Heather I. McKhann of Paris, France; two sons, Serge N. McKhann Jr. of Rumford, R.I., and Christopher A. McKhann of Bristol, Vt.; two brothers, Dr. Charles F. McKhann of North Haven, Conn., and Dr. Guy M. McKhann of Baltimore, Md.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in August at a time to be announced.

Jason S. Montero Romero, 10 months

Hyannis - Jason S. Montero Romero, 10 months old, died unexpectedly July 12, 2002, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Hyannis, he was the son of Edgar B. and Blanca (Romero) Montero of Hyannis. He was the grandson of Segundo and Carmeglina Montero, and Maria and Antonio Romero, all of Ecuador.
He is also survived by an aunt and uncle, and a cousin.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Vincent Morgan Murray Sr.

Centerville - Vincent Morgan Murray Sr., a resident of Centerville, died July 15, 2002, at the Greenery in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Mary F. (McSherry) Murray for 49 years.
Mr. Murray was born and raised in Boston and attended Boston Latin High School. He joined the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii during World War II.
Upon returning, he attended Boston University receiving a degree in economics. He worked for Eastman Kodak for more than 25 years.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Vincent M. Murray Jr. of Providence, R.I.; Susan. F. Murray, of Providence, R.I.; and two nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial followed in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Christian H. Pape, 22

Centerville - Christian Hudson Pape, 22, a lifelong resident of Centerville, died unexpectedly July 15, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He graduated from Barnstable High School three years ago.
Remembered for his compassion, he was an emergency medical technician for the Cape Cod Ambulance and was known to sit in the back of an ambulance and speak calmly to scared or elderly people.
He had plans to attend University of Massachusetts to become a radiologist.
His ambition was also recognizable as he worked as a waiter at two Hyannis restaurants.
Survivors include his mother, Cathy (Wells) Pape of Centerville; his father, John Pape of Eastham; and a sister, Charity Page of Centerville.
A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church in Hyannis.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heifer Project International, 1015 Louisiana , Little Rock, AR 72202.

Joseph E. Pelton, 73

Rutland, Vt. - Joseph E. Pelton, 73, a resident of Rutland and formerly of Barnstable, died July 15, 2002, at Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston after an illness.
He was the husband of Mary V. (Rasku) Pelton for 45 years.
Born in West Barnstable, Mr. Pelton graduated from Barnstable High School. He lived in Osterville for 25 years and then several years in Danbury, Conn., before moving to Rutland in 1993.
Mr. Pelton was a carpenter. He was a member of the West Barnstable Laestadian Lutheran Church in West Barnstable and the Rutland Historical Society. He enjoyed fishing and woodcarving.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a nephew, Ivar Moore of Centerville.
A funeral was held at the Miles Funeral Home in Holden. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.

Marion Howard Ross, 91

Osterville - Marion Howard Ross, 91, a longtime summer resident of Osterville, died July 14, 2002, in Naples, Fla.
She was the wife of Herbert F. Ross, who died in 1988. They were married in 1934.
Born in Malden, Mrs. Ross graduated from Wheaton College. She spent most of her married life in Winchester. Beginning in 1956, the Rosses spent summers at their home on Parker Road. They were active members of the Wianno Club.
In 1960, she and her husband moved to Lausanne, Switzerland, where he opened an international division of the United Shoe Machinery Corp. For three years, Mrs. Ross accompanied her husband on his business travels in Europe and South America. After his retirement, they wintered in Naples.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. Ross of Washington , D.C., and Martha Ross Bash of Chicago; a son, William A. Ross of Norwalk, Conn., and Jupiter, Fla.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Plymouth.

John Alves, 71

Brockton - John Alves, 71, a resident of Brockton and a Cape Cod native, died July 22, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton.
Born in Marstons Mills, he graduated from Barnstable High School. He served in the Navy.
Mr. Alves worked as a foreman for Morse Shoe Co. in Stoughton and delivery driver for Allied Auto Parts in Abington.
A Red Sox fan, he also played amateur baseball in Boston. He loved politics and campaigned for many candidates.
Survivors include a sister, Mary E. James of Plymouth; three nephews; a niece; 10 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
Memorials donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Marion Adams Bessey, 89

Cotuit - Marion Adams (Benbow) Bessey, 89, a longtime resident of Cotuit, died January 2, 2002, in New York City.
She was the wife of Palmer Q. Bessey, who died in 1970. They were married since 1942.
Born in Newton, she attended the Buckingham School in Cambridge until her family moved to Montclair, N.J., in 1926. She graduated from Montclair High School in 1930. She attended Gulf Park College in Gulfport, Miss., graduated from Pine Manor College in Wellesley and attended Wellesley College.
After a year studying in Italy, she returned to Montclair, where she was active in the Montclair Women's Club, the Quester's society, the Junior League of Montclair and the Montclair Dramatic Club, where she met her husband.
She and her husband lived in Montclair, where she was active in the League of Women Voters, the Montclair Women's Club, and the Montclair Garden Club.
After her husband's death, she moved to Cotuit. Her family had vacationed in Cotuit since she was an infant and in 1957, she and her husband had built a summer home on Sea Street in her grandfather's former vegetable garden. In Cotuit, she was active in the Cotuit Library Association, the Women's Fellowship of the Cotuit Federated Church, the Cotuit Historical Society, the Garden Club and Fisher's Net in Osterville.
For the last four years, she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, first in Rochester, N.Y., and then in New York City.
Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Breck Duncan of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, Palmer Q. Bessey of New York City; two grandchildren; a niece; and several nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 5 at the Cotuit Federated Church.

Francis T. Buckley Jr., 76

Hyannis - Francis T. Buckley Jr., 76, a resident of Hyannis, died July 23, 2002, at his home.
He was the husband of the late Doris (McMinamin) Buckley.
Born in Medford, Mr. Buckley graduated from Everett High School in 1943. He graduated from Boston University in 1952.
Mr. Buckley was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He served in Okinawa in the South Pacific
He worked for Hanover Insurance Co. and Zurich Insurance Co. Mr. Buckley worked as a claims supervisor. He retired from Zurich Insurance in 1975.
He moved to Hyannis in 1976 and settled in the family home, where he lived until his death. This home was built by his great-grandfather and inhabited by six generations.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a communicant at St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis.
He enjoyed sailing, boating, reading, discussing politics and current events.
Survivors include a son, Francis T. Buckley III of Stoneham; four daughters, Carol A. Buckley of Hyannis, Karen Jefferson of Wakefield, Nancy P. Jannino of Saugus and Patricia M. Keegan. of Wakefield; six grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 White 's Path., South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
