Bradford I. Towle, 72

Osterville - Bradford I. Towle, 72, a resident of Osterville, died Sept. 6, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis of complications from diabetes.
He was the husband of Patricia (Whitehead) Towle of Osterville.
Mr. Towle was born in Medford and attended the Webb Institute of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics from Tufts University and attended graduate school at Columbia University School of Business. He also took part in the Executive Program at the Aspen Institute of Humanistic Studies.
After three years in the Army Security Agency, Mr. Towle embarked on a business career at IBM that spanned 33 years and several departments, culminating as vice president of operations in the real estate and construction division.
In 1987, he joined the Boston Museum of Science, serving as executive director and president for four years.
Mr. Towle served on the boards of numerous business and non-profit organizations, including the national advisory board of Boston Partners in Education, the board of advisers for the University of Massachusetts College of Management, the Museum of Science as a life trustee, the board of trustees at Cape Cod Academy and the board of governors at the Beach Club. He was a member of the vestry at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Osterville.
He was chairman of the advisory board for the Massachusetts Youth Leadership Foundation, chairman of the advisory board of the Cotting School, lifetime director of Center of Applied Special Technology, vice chairman of the board of directors at the National Marine Life Center and vice chairman of the board of trustees at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Robert B. Towle of Rochester, N.H., and David A. Towle of Stoughton; two daughters, Stephanie C. Anderson of Baltimore, Md., and Heather C. Niblock of Annapolis, Md.; two grandsons; and one nephew.
He was also the father of the late Steven R. Towle.
A funeral was held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Osterville.
Memorial donations may be made to Cape Cod Academy, 50 Osterville-West Barnstable Road, Osterville, MA 02655; to the National Marine Life Center, 120 Main St., Bourne, MA 02532; or to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Wianno Avenue, Osterville, MA 02655.

Doris Hinckley Whieldon, 95

Barnstable - Doris Hinckley Whieldon, 95, a resident of Barnstable Village, died Sept. 2, 2002, in Hyannis after a lengthy illness.
She was the wife of William J. Whieldon, who died in 1996.
Mrs. Whieldon was a direct descendant of Thomas Hinckley, a Barnstable resident and governor of the Plymouth Colony until it joined Massachusetts in 1692.
Born in Wellesley Park, Dorchester, she graduated from Belmont High School in 1925 and the Massachusetts School of Art (now Massachusetts College of Art) in Boston in 1929.
She worked for the Jordan Marsh Co. of Boston in both its fashion and comparison shopping departments until 1941, when she was married while her husband was on a weekend pass from the Army installation at Fort McKinley in Maine.
Mrs. Whieldon lived in Lexington from 1946 until 1967, when she moved to Barnstable to reside in the home purchased by her great-grandmother, Rebecca Hinckley, in 1866.
In Lexington, Mrs. Whieldon was president of the Lend-a-Hand Society and co-president, with her husband, of the Couples Club at the First Parish Unitarian Church, as well as president of the Hancock Elementary School PTA. She continued her active involvement in Unitarian Church affairs after moving to Barnstable, where she was president and later historian of the Flower Guild Alliance. She was also active in the Cape Cod Community Concert Series.
Among her favorite pastimes were reading, sewing, knitting, traveling throughout New England with her husband, and visiting with her grandchildren in Washington , D.C., and on Cape Cod.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey R. Whieldon of Washington , D.C.; and two granddaughters.
A service was held at the Unitarian Church in Barnstable. Burial followed in Lothrop Hill Cemetery there.

Thomas V. Aldert, 60

Hyannis - Thomas Vincent Aldert, 60, a resident of Hyannis, died Sept. 13, 2002, at his home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Janet (Holland) Aldert.
Born in Westfield, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor of arts degree in English. He was alum coordinator of the Marching Band Association, editor of the yearbook and campus literary magazine.
Mr. Aldert was also a graduate of the OCS program at Newport, R.I., in 1963. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Navy from 1964 to 1968. He was discharged in 1968 with the rank of lt. junior grade.
Mr. Aldert worked his whole life in radio, television and print journalism, including WQRC radio in Barnstable, Channel 6 in New Bedford/Providence, Channel 40 in Springfield, the Worcester Telegram, WXTK in Barnstable and the Cape Cod Times.
He was an avid reader, especially of history-related items, enjoyed cooking and was an avid Notre Dame and Boston sports fan.
He was a longtime resident of the Cape. He had moved to Worcester for seven years, returned to the Cape in 1990, to Falmouth and had lived the past five years in Hyannis.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Christopher Mark Aldert of Hyannis; a daughter, Katherine Jean Muriel Aldert of Hyannis.
A graveside service was held in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Marie J. Aylmer, 79

Centerville - Marie J. (Lebel) Aylmer, 79, a resident of Centerville, died Aug. 24, 2002, at the Cape Regency Nursing Center in Centerville.
She was the wife of the late Thomas M. Aylmer.
Born in Hull and raised in Osterville, she graduated from Barnstable High School, where she was an outstanding athlete. She later graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Providence, R.I., as a registered nurse.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas P. Aylmer of Union, Maine, Kerry P. Aylmer of Yarmouthport, Peter B. Aylmer of Littleton, Colo., and Daniel J. Aylmer of Osterville; two daughters, Karen Aylmer of Quincy and Marianne Aylmer of Manson, Wash.; a brother, Paul Lebel of Osterville; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Memorial donations may be made to the NOAH shelter, 77 Winter St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

John F. Casey, 75

Hyannis - John F. Casey, 75, a resident of Hyannis, died Sept. 9, 2002, at Hospice House in Barnstable of multiple myeloma.
He was the husband of Gladys (Swindell) Casey of Hyannis.
Born in Weymouth and educated in Barnstable schools, Mr. Casey entered the Army during World War II. He served as a cryptologist in Germany and during the Korean War, traveling extensively in Europe. He was honorably discharged as warrant officer.
He then worked as a cryptologist with the National Security Agency in Fort Mead, Md., for 35 years, retiring in 1981. While working for the government, he lived in New Carrollton, Md., until retiring and moving to Cape Cod in 1982. He worked at True Value in Mashpee for several years until illness forced him to retire. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
He enjoyed coin collecting, carpentry, reading, drawing and painting.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, John "Jack" Casey of Groton, Conn.; a daughter, Sandra Casey of Hyannis; two sisters, Helen Fruean of Centerville and Sally Recave of Hyannis; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, with burial following in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Daphne Chase, 100

Hyannis - Daphne (Robinson) Chase, 100, one of the oldest residents of Hyannis, died Sept. 13, 2002, at Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville,
She was the wife of Hector E. Chase, who died in 1983.
Born in Brighton, England, she arrived in America to join her parents in Barnstable in 1911.
She graduated from Barnstable High School in 1918.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Hinckley Lumber Co. in Hyannis,
Mrs. Chase was a active member of the Federated Church of Hyannis and participated in their thrift shop, yearly fairs and lobster luncheons.
She was a Gray Lady for Cape Cod Hospital and volunteered for the Red Cross during the war years.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin M. Chase of Centerville and Robert M. Chase of Sarasota, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was also the mother of the late Donald A. Chase of Hyannis.

Lena A. Cullotta, 83

Bellingham - Lena A. (Papagno) Cullotta, 83, a resident of Bellingham and formerly of Centerville, died Sept. 9, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Worcester.
She was the wife of Orazio Cullotta, who died in May of 2000.
She had lived in Centerville for 17 years before moving to Bellingham three years ago. She had previously lived in Northboro and was also a longtime resident of Natick.
Born in Shrewsbury, she graduated from Hudson High School. She later graduated from the former Framingham Union School of Nursing in 1942. She had also once worked at the former Framingham Union Hospital and was a past unit supervisor at the former Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick.
She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and cooking.
Survivors include a son, Paul S. Cullotta of Sandwich; a daughter, Nancy A. Collins of Hopedale; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Milford.
A graveside committal service was held in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.

Carolyn M. Guild, 76

Hyannis - Carolyn M. (Crabtree) Guild, 76, a resident of Hyannis, died Sept. 13, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the former wife of the late Edward A. Guild.
Born in New Bedford, Mrs. Guild worked as a secretary for the Cape Cod Chapter of the Red Cross. She was a member of the Federated Church of Hyannis and of its Church Women's Fellowship, and was also a volunteer for the "Share" Program.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Guild of Sandwich and Robert Guild of Hyannis; three daughters, Susan Guild of Pelham, N.H., and Elizabeth Smith and Lynn Guild, both of Hyannis; a sister, Hope Harrington of Falmouth; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held in the Federated Church of Hyannis.
