Walter B. Pierce, of Waltham, died Thursday September 7, 2000 in the Reservior Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in Weston. Mr. Pierce was a life long resident of Waltham.
He was the owner and president of Dillaby Fire Proofing Company. Mr. Pierce was member of the Master Lather’s Association and Boston Building Trade Council.
He was son of the late Frank B. & Viva Pierce, and brother of the late Edith McClarey.
Husband of the late Jeanette (Allen) Pierce, he is survived by his daughter Sarah J. Pierce of Auburndale and his son John E. Pierce of Sherborn. He leaves his grandchildren John & Jean Pierce of Texas , Christopher J. Pierce of Sherborn & Gilberto & Kimberly J. Rodriguez of New Jersey. Also survived by 2 great grandchildren & many nieces & nephews.
A funeral service will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday afternoon at 1: 00 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 6-9 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty. Flowers are appreciated or expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 1 Kendall Sq., Bldg 200, Cambridge, MA 02139.

Dorothy Morrell
1919 - 2000
Dorothy P. Morrell, 81, of Waltham died Thursday at the Reservoir Nursing Home in Waltham.
Born in Boston, she was raised in Newton and had lived there until moving to Waltham where she has been a resident for the past 35 years.
Mrs. Morrell had been employed in the Manufacturing division of the Ucinite Company & TRW Company until her retirement
She was the daughter of the late Stephen M. & Anna J. Morrell and the sister of the late Mary Morrell.
Services will be held Tuesday morning at 8: 00 AM from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham with a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, Ash Street. Auburndale at 9: 00 a.m.
Visiting Hours will be at the funeral home on Monday evening 7-9 P.M.
Interment Private. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Ellen Vasquez
1906 - 2000
Ellen Mary (Serpa) Vasquez, of Waltham, died Saturday morning September 9, 2000 in the Maristhill Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in East Boston. Mrs. Vasquez lived for a short period of time in Arlington before moving to Waltham 69 years ago.
She was employed with several local companies as a secretary for a number of years. Mrs. Vasquez belonged to the Waltham Senior Citizens and was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church Choir & Sacred Heart Church Rosary Guild.
She was daughter of the late Manuel and Flora (Enos) Serpa, and sister of the late Loretta Serpa and Lillian Collins.
Wife of the late George Joseph Vasquez, she is survived by her brother William J. & Blanche Serpa of Arlington and her sister Mildred Serpa of Woburn. She leaves her nieces & nephews Gary & Sandy Serpa of Plymouth, Dean Serpa of Arlington, Madeline & Daniel Hamel of Texas , John & Laurel Kuipers and Robin & Steven Brown both of Andover. Also survived by several loving grandnieces & grandnephews and devoted friend Angelo Biviano of Waltham.
Services will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Tuesday morning at 9: 00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10: 00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Flowers are appreciated or expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Boston Catholic Television, Chapel St., Newton, MA or Marist Missionary Sisters, 349 Grove St., Waltham, MA 02453.

Jennie DeFelice
1912 - 2000
Jennie Y. (Ferlazzo) DeFelice, 87, of Newton Highlands died Saturday at the Sunbridge of Newton.
Born in Filicudi, Italy she has been a resident of Newton Highlands for the past 76 Years.
Mrs. DeFelice had been employed for many years as a Dietician at the Newton- Wellesley Hospital until her retirement.
Mrs. DeFelice enjoyed cooking, gardening and her family.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph & Nancy (LaCava) DeFelice and the Mother of the late Dawn Johnson and the wife of the late John F. DeFelice.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan N. DeFelice of Newton Highlands, her sisters and brothers, Angela Giardina of Waltham, Joseph Ferlazzo of Bradenton, Fla., Lucy Vynorius of Waltham, Nancy White of Newton Highlands, Evelyn Chiarelli of Waltham, Elizabeth Feriazzo of Newton Highlands.
Also survived by 2 Grandchildren & 6 Great Grandchildren & Many nieces & nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday morning at 10: 00 a.m from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Sacred Heart Church, Centre Street, Newton Ctr., at 11: 00 arm Interment willfollow at Calvary Cemetery, Walthaim Visiting Hours will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.

Walter Bardsley
1923 - 2000
Walter 0. Bardsley Sr, 77 of Maynard, died Tuesday evening September 5. 2000, in the Deaconess Waltham Hospital.
He was born in Waltham, MA, and was a lifelong resident of Waltham until moving to Maynard six years ago.
Mr Bardsley was a retired Waltham Firefighter, having served from 1946 until failing health required he retire.
He served during World War 11 with the United States Army as a Sergeant along with seven of his brothers, all serving simultaneously.
A recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received in action, Mr. Bardsley assisted in the capture of 23 Germans as Prisoners of War, coming upon a gully with 23 Germans playing dead, to trap the the American patrol. Sgt. Bardsley along with Lt. Richard Mitchell, realized the Germans were feigning dead, fired a barrage of rounds over the trench, creating the illusion that a squad instead of a patrol was present, thereby forcing the Germans to surrender.
He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters. Mr. Bardsley was a former member of the P.F.C. John M. Sullivan Post V.F.W. # 10334, Waltham, a member of the Joseph Hill Post, American Legion # 156, Waltham, and a member of the Waltham Lodge of Moose # 1018.
He was an avid Fisherman & Hunter.
He was the son of the late Harold and Emily (Melanson) Bardsley, and the brother of the late Leonard Bardsley, William Bardsley, Robert Bardsley, Louis Bardsley, Harold Bardsley, Richard Bardsley, Edwin Bardsley, & Raymond Bardsley.
He is survived by his wife of 54 Years Eleanor M. (Frullo) Bardsley, his children, Waltham Firefighter Walter G. Bardsley Jr., of Waltham, Lincoln Firefighter Donald B. Bardsley of Maynard, Mrs Cheryl Abbondanzio of Salem, New Hampshire, Sudbury Firefighter Gary 0. Bardsley of Sudbury & Kevin Bardsley of Maynard, his sisters, Theresa Bean of California, Mrs. Thomas (Charlotte) O’Connell of Waltham, and brothers Theodore Bardsley of Lincoln & Paul Bardsley of Billerica. In addition he leaves 15 Grandchildren & 1 Great Grandchild.
Services with full military honors will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody Street, Waltham, on Saturday morning at 9: 00 am. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10: 00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday evening 7-9 pm. & Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Harold Kelley
1904 - 2000
Harold M. Kelley of Waltham died Tuesday morning September 26, 2000, in the Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. He was 96. Born in Maynard, Mr. Kelley has lived in Waltham for over 62 years.
He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service; in the later years he was the supervisor of Private Mailboxes for the Main Street Post Office in Waltham. Mr. Kelley was a member of the Maynard Lodge of Elks, the National Association of Letter Carriers # 34 and the National American Postal Workers Union.
Beloved husband of the late Phyllis D. (Connelly) Kelley. He was son of the late Thomas M. and Annie (Dunne) Kelley.
He is survived by his daughter Mrs. Edward (Judith A.) LeBlanc of Waltham. Grandfather of Wendi A. & Kelli A. LeBlanc both of Waltham.
Services will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Friday morning at 9: 00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10: 00 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint Bridget’s Cemetery, Maynard. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Joanna Velardi
1917 - 2000
Joanna "Jean" (Giacobbe) Velardi of Belmont died Tuesday afternoon September 26, 2000, in the Park Ave. Nursing and Rehab. Center in Arlington. She was 83.
Born in Dorchester, Mrs. Velardi resided at Flett Rd., in Belmont for over 50 yrs. She worked as a seamstress at Puritan Uniform Co. during WWII; later did electronics at Hewlett Packard, Waltham.
Loving wife of Samuel Velardi of Florida; mother of Janet Taverna of Belmont; Kenneth Velardi of Stow, Ronald Velardi of Colorado. Mother-in-law of Grace Velardi of Stow, Cathy Velardi of Colorado. Sister of Helen DeLuca of Quincy, Margaret Giacobbe of Arlington, and Andrew Giacobbe of Florida. Grandmother of Candy Velardi of Colorado, Jessica Taverna of California, and John Taverna of Quincy.
Services will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT, on Friday morning at 8: 00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Lukes Parish, 132 Lexington St., Belmont at 9: 00 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty. Armand Testa
1921 - 2000
Armand M. "Monte" Testa, of Waltham, died suddenly Thursday morning September 28, 2000 in the New England Medical Center in Boston. He was 78.
Born and raised in Watertown, Mr. Testa lived for the past 50 years in Waltham. He attended and graduated from the Watertown Vocational High School.
He was employed with the Polaroid Corporation of Waltham as a Model Maker for over 40 years.
Mr. Testa served for a period of time with the United States Army. During this period of time he played trombone serving with the United States Army Drum and Bugle Corps and with the American Legion Band of Watertown.
He was an avid golfer, playing almost daily at Leo J. Martin Golf Course, winning golf championships at Oakley and Riverside Country Clubs. He enjoyed photography and making walking sticks in his spare time. He bowled on Friday nights in leagues at the Sudbury Bowler Drome.
He was son of the late Fedeli and Pasqualina (Russo) Testa, and brother of the late Marie DeNorscia, Frederick, Carl, and David Testa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carmela F. "Nellie" (Salamone) Testa, his loving daughters Donna Marie (Testa) Rourke and her husband Stephen Rourke of Waltham and Joanne McLaughlin and her husband Capt. Peter McLaughlin United States Navy of Centerville, Va. His sister Pauline Bosco of Athol. Loving grandfather of Adam and Patrick Rourke & Jennifer and Erin McLaughlin. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Services will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Monday morning at 10: 30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 11: 30 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
