Andrea Hatheway
1945 - 2000
Andrea D. Hatheway, 55, of 10 High Road, Newbury, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2000, at the Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.
She was the former wife of Curtis R. Walton, Sr.
Born in Newburyport, February 3, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas N. and Florence B. (Heard) Hatheway, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1963. She went on to receive her degree as a dental hygienist from the Forsythe Dental School at Northeastern University in 1965.
Andrea had worked for several dentists in the area, including Malcolm Malloy, David Davitt, Gary Little and James DiTolla.
A communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church of Newburyport, she was devoted to her family, and was an avid reader, who enjoyed genealogy, gardening, and computers.
In addition to her former husband, she is survived by her son, Curtis R. Walton, Jr. of Newbury; one brother, Nicholas N. Hatheway, Jr., and wife Anne, of Newbury; one sister, Jayne H. Perron, and husband Leo, of Hookset, NH; and several nieces, nephews and many many cousins.
Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at 9: 00 a.m. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by a funeral mass at 10: 00 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Green Street, Newburyport. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport. Calling hours will be Friday, 2-4 and 7-9. Donations in her memory may be made to the Newburyport Public Library, 112 Parker Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.

Jay Mercer
1964 - 2000
Jay Scot Mercer, 36, of 71 Pilling Street, Haverhill, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 20, 2000 in Springfield, Vermont.
Born in Newburyport, February 11, 1964, he was the son of James R. and Carlene A. (Roberts) Mercer.
A computer consultant, Mr. Mercer ran his own business, J. S. Mercer Computer Consultants. He had previously worked nine years at the Boston Social Security Office, where he was instrumental in setting up computer systems and phone lines.
In addition to his parents of Newburyort, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Catherine V. Roberts of Salisbury; his brother, Keith A. Mercer, and wife Karyn-Beth, of Salisbury; his sister, Dawn A. Kopoulos, and husband Philip, of Newburyport; two nieces, two nephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2: 00 p.m. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by interment in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport. Calling hours are Monday evening only, 7 to 9 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-4688.

Ruth Merigold
1922 - 2000
Ruth L. Merigold, 78, of Taunton Street died at home Wednesday afternoon, July 12, 2000.
She was the wife of Raymond W. Merigold.
Born March 16, 1922 in Warwick, RI, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Sarah (Randall) Hazard.
Mrs. Merigold has been a resident of Plainville for the past 14 years and previously lived in North Attleboro for many years. She was a graduate of Lockwood High School in Warwick.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: 4 sons, Raymond W. Merigold, Jr. of Plainville, William Merigold of Northport, FL, Ronald M. Merigold of Attleboro, David M. Merigold of North Attleboro; 4 daughters, Alene Perreault of North Attleboro, Deborah Roy of North Attleboro, Laurie Young of North Attleboro and Sally Ferrinni of Warwick, RI; a brother, William Hazard of Warwick, RI and 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Ivy Bourgeois
1920 - 2000
Ivy Joseph Bourgeois, 80, of Pleasant Street died Saturday morning, September 9, 2000 at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island in North Smithfield.
He was the husband for 57 years to Louise (Alexander) Bourgeois.
Born July 26, 1920 in Paulina, Louisiana , he was a son of the late Edgar J. and Louisiana (Brignac) Bourgeois. Mr. Bourgeois has been a resident of North Attleboro for the past 43 years after living much of his life in Louisiana .
He was a graduate of Lutcher High School in Lutcher, Louisiana and worked as a heat treater at Cumberland Engineering in South Attleboro for about 8 years before retiring in 1985.
He previously owned his own business in heat treating. Mr. Bourgeois was a veteran of World War II, serving the U.S. Navy for 6 years. He also enjoyed gardening and working in his yard.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jo-Ann Bourgeois of North Attleboro and Joyce Potter of Union, ME; a sister, Patricia Thompson of Louisiana ; 4 brothers, Pershing, Malvin, Charles and Ferrel Bourgeois all of Louisiana . He was brother of the late Irving, Garland, Roger and Irene Bourgeois.
A funeral will be held from the SPERRY & McHOUL Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Tuesday, September 12th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral in Grace Episcopal Church on North Washington Street at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Shepardville Cemetery, Plainville.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 11 from 4-8 p.m.

Louise Buckius
1920 - 2000
Louise E. Buckius, 79, of Wildwood Drive died Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2000 in Miriam Hospital, Providence.
She was the wife of the late Clarence D. Buckius for 54 years before his death in 1990.
Born September 29, 1920 in Ecorse, MI, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Cicotte and Maude Sarah (Hartrick) Reno.
Mrs. Buckius has been a resident of Plainville since 1982 and spent winters in Palm Bay, FL for many years. She previously lived in Queens, NY for over thirty years. She grew up in Michigan.
Mrs. Buckius was a physical education instructor and girls basketball coach at St. Pascal Baylon High School and St. Agnes Academy in Queens, NY for over 30 years before retiring in 1982. She also coached girls basketball at St. Patrick's High School in Wyandotte, MI for several years.
She was a communicant of St. Martha's Parish in Plainville and belonged to the Daughters of Isabella, Benedict Circle #61. She also played basketball until her late 30's and loved playing and watching all sports.
Her survivors include two sons, Robert Dale Buckius of Beth Page, NY and Lawrence Paul Buckius of Palm Bay, FL; a daughter, Lynn Marie Bradley of North Attleboro; a brother, Earl Reno of Springfield, OH; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Dewey Cicotte and James Reno.
A funeral will be held from the SPERRY & McHOUL Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Saturday, September 16th at 8: 15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mark's Church, Stanley Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro at 9 O'clock. Burial will follow in Plainville Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening, September 15th from 7-9 p.m.

Arthur French
1912 - 2000
Arthur W. French, 88, of Grove Street, died early Saturday morning, August 26 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Elsie (King) French.
Born April 12, 1912 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Waldo & Madeline (Donnelly) French.
Mr. French was a resident of Plainville for over 45 years. He attended North Attleboro High School.
He was a toolmaker at H.F. Barrows in North Attleboro for many years, retiring in 1980.
Mr. French was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in North Attleboro. He enjoyed working with wood and stained glass, creating beautiful Tiffany Lamps.
He is survived by three brothers; Harry and Lester French, both of Plainville and Walter French of Cumberland, three sisters; Jeannette Nowick of So. Yarmouth, Barbara French of Plainville, and Jean Eldridge of Wareham, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, August 29 from 6 - 9 p.m. in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Attleboro Falls. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

Bonnie Gillmore
1944 - 2000
Bonnie Gillmore, 55, of East Bacon Street died Saturday evening, August 19, 2000 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro.
Born September 22, 1944 in Long Beach, California, she was a daughter of the late Frank A. and Virginia (Dumbleton) Gillmore.
Bonnie grew up in Acton and has been a resident of Plainville since 1989, she also resided in Wrentham for several years.
She worked at G-Tech Corporation in Providence in the software quality assurance department for many years before retiring due to disability in 1993. She underwent lung volume reduction surgery in 1994 with a technique improved upon by Dr. Joel Cooper of Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She then felt a need for and started a support group for sufferers of C.O.P.D. (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Boston. She was extremely active in giving support to people with emphysema, frequently giving talks to adults and school children about the dangers of smoking.
Her involvement in these activities was the subject of several Sun Chronicle articles in years past.
Ms. Gillmore was also very active in Plainville town affairs until recently serving as the chairperson of the Finance Committee, co-chair of Citizen’s Advisory Committee, member of Plainville Technologies Task Force, Library Friend and Volunteer, Landfill Care Group Committee and Concerned Citizens for Plainville.
She also worked on her bachelors degree in Computer Science while attending Northeastern University.
Bonnie had been on the waiting list for a lung transplant for several years and in February of 1999 was placed in the top one-third of that list. She was issued a beeper as next-in-line just two weeks ago.
Her survivors include a daughter, Kathleen S. Paul of Oregon and a son, Gary S. Ames of California; a sister, Ginny McBride of Nevada; a brother, John Gillmore of Oregon; 2 grandchildren, Theron Paul of Oregon and Riley Ames of California; 2 nephews, Danny Gillmore of Oregon and Nathan McBride of Florida
Funeral services will be on Wednesday evening, August 23 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to whichever organization you think Bonnie would appreciate.

Wai Kam 'Kim' Yung
1944 - 2000
Mrs. Wai Kam Yung of Dover, New Hampshire died suddenly at home on March 6, 2000 at age 55.
Mrs. Yung was born in the Philippines on July 18, 1944. She resided in Dover, New Hampshire and operated a restaurant with her family - The Waikiki - for the past 22 years.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Mr. Ngin Quong "Joe" Yung, and was the devoted mother of four children, Webster Yung of Portsmouth, Chester Yung, Lesley Yung, and Kimberly Yung all of Dover.
Her funeral will be held in the Wing Lok Chapel at Wing Fook Funeral Home, 13 Gerard Street, Boston on Friday March 10 th at 12: 00 with the funeral procession leaving at 1: 00 P.M. Visiting hours will be Thursday evening March 9 th from 6-9 P.M. Internment will be in the family lot at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
