Joseph Lawler
1908 - 2000
Joseph W. "Gramps" Lawler of Canton, formerly of Mattapan and Hyde Park, died Sunday March 12, 2000 at the John Adams Continuing Care Center in Quincy following a long illness. He was 91.
Born in Boston he attended Hyde Park schools. He worked as a motorman for the MBTA and worked at the Mattapan and Ashmont stations for 30 years until retiring in 1973. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2095 in Canton and he was also a member of the Holy Name Society in Mattapan, the St. Joseph Retreat League of Charlstown, and the Mil-Par Senior Citizens of Hyde Park.
Beloved husband of the late Marie (Dolan) and the late Mabel (Rooney-Mc Gowan). Devoted father of James J. Lawler and his wife Mary Ellen of Franklin and Ann Marie Fraser of Wollaston and East Weymouth. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral from the Roache-Pushard Home for Funerals 210 Sherman St. Canton, MA (781)-828-2929 Thursday at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Gerard Majella Church Washington St. Canton at 10 am. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park. If desired donations may be made in Gramp's memory to the St. Gerard's neighbors in need 1860 Washington , St. Canton 02021.

Leila Prescott
1902 - 2000
Leila Evangeline Prescott, 98, of Norwood where she has lived since October, 1994, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000 after a lingering illness at the Charlwell House.
Born April 13, 1902 in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of the late HerbertLeroy Collins and Amy (Pease) Collins.
A resident of Norwood since 1994, she was formerly of Sarasota and St.Petersburg, Florida, and had been raised in Haverhill, MA and West Newbury, MA graduating from West Newbury, MA Schools in 1920. A homemaker, she was an avid gardener and accomplished seamstress.
Widow of the late George Earl Prescott, she is the mother of June Prescott Kibbe of Medfield and the late Gordon R. Prescott and sister of the late Professor Earl S. Collins, educator and astronomer for Salem State College. She is also survived by a half brother Herbert Lee Collins of Forked River, NJ, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11AM on Saturday August 12, 2000 at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield, MA. The Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Service in Medfield has assisted the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Medfield Animal Shelter, 110 North Street, Medfield, MA 02052.

Barbara Morgan
1930 - 2000
Barbara J. (Murphy) Morgan, 70, of Edgewater, Florida, where she has been a resident for 1 year, died Wednesday, July 5th, 2000 at the Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Born February 6, 1930 in West Brookfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Michael F. Murphy and Prudence S. (Lyon) Murphy.
Formerly of Carver and Medfield, MA, she was educated in the Framingham Schools. A retired Postal Clerk, she had been employed by the US Postal Service in Framingham for many years. She was also a hostess at the former Maridor Restaurant of Framingham for many years.
She was a member of the Retired Postal Employees Association, Beckwith Post 110, American Legion Auxiliary, Medfield, MA, Plymouth American Legion Auxiliary, Plymouth, MA, and the New Smyrna Beach American Legion Auxiliary, in Florida.
Wife of the late Charles Henry Morgan, she is the mother of Donald J. Ross of Bourne, MA, Robert P. Ross of Dover, NH, Wayne A. Ross and Michael P. Morgan of Medfield, MA, Charles T. Morgan of Kissimmee, FL and the late Wanda L. Delaney. She is also survived by the 3 sisters, Marjorie Johnson of Whitinsville, MA, Joyce Mercer of Ashland and Edna Norton of Framingham, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral service at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield on Thursday, July 13 at 11AM. Private burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Cochituate.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 8PM.

Catherine "Kay" Stewart
1924 - 2000
Catherine J. "Kay" (Aylward) Stewart, 75, of Sacramento, CA where she has been a resident for 35 years, died after a brief illness Tuesday, September 12, 2000.
A retired United States Postal Service employee, she was formerly of Medfield and Wrentham, MA. She was born November 4, 1924 in Wrentham and was the daughter of the late Thomas L. Aylward Sr. and Mary (Mullen) Aylward, and was a graduate of Wrentham High School.
She leaves a son Bruce and grandson Jarad, a brother Charles Aylward of Melrose, five sisters, Mary Sweeney of Watertown, Claire Hutchins of Norfolk, Dorothy Aylward of Medfield, Elizabeth Heuklom of West Medway, Virginia Leon of Westwood, and many nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Thomas L. Aylward Jr. and Helen M. Matthews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 4, 2000 at 10: 00AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Medfield Home Committee, PO Box 315, Medfield, MA 02052-0315
The Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Service in Medfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Charles Durgin
1929 - 2000
DURGIN, Charles W. "Chugga" Durgin, age 71, of 120 Newton Road, Plaistow, died Monday, May 8, 2000 at the Haverhill Municipal Hospital.
He was the fiormer husband of Jean C. (Roger) Durgin.
Born in Haverhill, March 13, 1929, he was the son of the late Haverhill Mayor Bernard L. Durgin and the late Dorothy J. (Suttie) Durgin, and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. He received a bachelor degree in business from Northeastern University in Boston.
A veteran of theKorean Conflict, he had served in the United States Army.
He was a salesman with the Haverhill Paperboard Company.
Mr. Durgin was a past master of Merrimack Lodge, F. & A.M. of Haverhill. He had been affiliated with the Portland Street Baptist Church of Haverhill, where his parents had been longtime members.
He was and avid golfer and enjoyed boating.
His survivors include one son, Charles W. Durgin, Jr. of Plaistow, NH; one daughter, Jennifer R. Durgin of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Robert L. Durgin of Chesterland, OH; one sister, Alice M. Sibley of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11: 00 a.m. at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill. Interment will be private. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9. Masonic services will be conducted by the officers and members of Merrimack Lodge, F. & A.M. Wednesday evening at 6: 30 prior to the calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Donald Bacheller
1928 - 2000
Donald F. Bacheller, 72, of 33 Lisa Circle, Merrimac, died Friday, July 14, at home with his family.
He was the husband of Lois J. (Burns) Bacheller and the late Shirley A. (Manning) Bacheller.
Bonr in Lynn, January 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Everett Bacheller, former Danvers State Rep. and the late Nora (Sonigan) Bacheller, and was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1946 and Springfield College, Class of 1952.
A veteran of World War II, he had served with the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 267 of Ormond Beach, Florida, where he had lived from 1988 to 1999.
Mr. Bacheller was a retired assistant chief juvenile probation officer for the County of Essex.
A devoted family man and sports enthusiast, he was especially dedicated to children, not only through his work, but also as a longtime coach, having coached the West Newbury Little League and the Court Jesters Softball Team to name just a few. He had also been a member of the AKC German shepherd Club.
In addiition to his wife of twenty-three years, he is survived by five daughters, Laurie B. Antun, and husband James, of Littleton, CA; Beth L. Bacheller of Evergreen, CO; Dorothy A. Tudisco of Haverhill; Lois Noonan, and husband Michael of Merrimac; and Paula A. Merrick, and husband Barry of Bradford; four sons, David D. Tudisco of Allbrightsville, PA; Peter M. Tudisco of Merrimac; Victor Tudisco of Merrimac; and James P. Tudisco of Haverhill; 16 grandchuldren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Victor Zalneraitis, who died in 1999.
Funeral services and interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.B. 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160 or to the American Lung Association, 100 Cummings Center, Suite 323A, Beverly, MA 01915-6185 or to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.

John Herlihy
1915 - 2000
John K. Herlihy, 84, of 30 Hale Street, Newburyport, died Sunday evening at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.
He was the husband of Carmella J. (Lombardo) Herlihy.
Born in Rowley on the Woodside Farm on Route 1A, presently Pikul Farm, December 24, 1915, he was the son the late Daniel and Margaret (Kearney) Herlihy and was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1937. He had also attended M.I.T.
For many years Mr. Herlihy was the custodian at the Newburyport High School, having previously worked at Whitfield Laundry and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
A communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 231, of Newburyport; and the Newburyport Golden Agers.
Mr. Herlihy was a devoted family man and an avid gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jack Herlihy of Newbury; and Gerard J. Herlihy of Newburyport; two daughters, Peggy Herlihy of Newburyport; and Laureen A. LaVerdiere, and husband Anthony, of Exeter, NH; one granddaughter, Sandy; one sister, Rita Herlihy Snow of Amesbury; one niece, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services from Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, will be Wednesday morning at 8: 00 followed by the funeral mass at 9: 00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Newburyport. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newburyport. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 7-9. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis House, C/O St. Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch Street, Boston, MA 02107-2278.

LeRoy Bolduc
1938 - 2000
LeRoy Emile Bolduc, age 62, of 5 Gove Lane Salisbury, formerly of Hampton, NH, died Saturday afternoon at the Shaughnessy Rehab Hospital in Salem, Massachusetts.
He was the former husband of Shirley A. (Votta) Bolduc.
Born in Newburyport, January 31, 1938, he was the son of Agnes (Daigle) Bolduc of Amesbury, and the late John Bolduc, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1957.
Mr. Bolduc, a barber by profession, was the owner of the Depot Barber Shop in Hampton, New Hampshire.
He was an antique car enthusiast.
In addition to his mother and his former wife, he is survived by longtime friend, Suzanne Casey of Plum Island, Newburyport; one son, Keith A. Bolduc of Seabrook, NH; two daughters, Lori Lynne Bolduc of Salisbury; and Sherri Ann Maguire, and husband Alan of Newburyport; two grandsons, Christopher A. and Ryan L. Maguire of Newburyport; two brothers, Daniel Bolduc of Salisbury and Paul Bolduc of Amesbury; three sisters, Rita Belletete of Salisbury; Rose Downs of Georgetown; and Rena Marshall of Seabrook, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Alphonse Bolduc.
Services from Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Thursday at 9: 00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10: 00 a.m. at Star of the Sea Church, Beach Road, Salisbury. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newburyport. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brain Tumor Center C/O Mass General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114.
