Charles E. Lincoln, 72
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Charles E. Lincoln, 72, of East Washington Street died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare Center in Worcester.

He was married on April 30, 1949 to Ernestine (Briggs) of North Attleboro.

Born April 4, 1929 in Taunton, he was a son of the late Wilfred G. and Gertrude F. (Cottrell) Lincoln.

Mr. Lincoln has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1968. He retired in 1992 from Engelhard, Inc. in Plainville after 25 years and previously worked for Souza Bros. and DeMayo and Apco Mossberg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, David of New Hampshire, Robert of Taunton, Jeffrey of Kentucky, Brian of Georgia and Scott Lincoln of Boston; a daughter, Sandra Lee Hall of Vermont; a brother, Kenneth F. Lincoln of North Attleboro; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Wednesday, May 2 at 12 noon. Burial was private.

Philip R. Loring, 81
Boston Fire Department Retiree
FOXBORO - Philip R. Loring, 81, of Foxboro, formerly of Sandwich, died Friday evening, March 30, 2001. He was the husband of Eileen M. (McCarthy) Loring.

Born December 26, 1919 in Boston, he was a son of the late Philip R. and Anne (Maloney) Loring. Mr. Loring was a graduate of Boston English High School in 1939 and was a veteran of WW2, serving in the US Army. He was a member of the Boston Fire Department from 1947 until his retirement in 1981, serving at Eggleston Square Station and Columbus Avenue Station. He was on engine #42 for twenty five years and retired as an aide to the Commissioner.

He was a member of the St. Florian Society, the Boston Firefighters Union #718, the American Legion Post #188 of Sandwich and the Elks Lodge #1548 of Wareham.

In addition to his wife, survivors include 4 sons, Robert F. Loring of Sharon; Richard D. Loring of Southborough, Paul E. Loring of Hyde Park and Michael G. Loring of Walpole; a daughter, Ann M. Morris of Mansfield; a sister, Ruth McDonald of CT; and 9 grandchildren.

A funeral was held from Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Tuesday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Theresa’s Church, West Roxbury at 11 a.m. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Arrangements by the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.

Stanhope G. Martin, 81

ATTLEBORO - Stanhope (Gray) Martin of Attleboro died Friday morning, May 25, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

She was the wife of the late Edward B. Martin.

Born August 24, 1919 in Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late John R. & Vera (Sherwood) Gray.

Mrs. Martin was a resident of Attleboro all of her life, except for residing on Block Island for 10 years in the 1950’s and recently resided at the Doolittle Home in Foxboro. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1937 and the Children’s Hospital Nursing School in Boston in 1940. She later graduated from Harvard Medical School as a nurse practitioner.

Before retiring in 1973, she had worked for the Pawtucket Visiting Nurses since 1958. She had previously worked for the Department of Public Health on Block Island from 1950 to 1957.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the QB Club at the Murray Unitarian/Universalist Church and the Pierian Club in Attleboro.

Her survivors include a son, David Martin of Pembroke; two daughters, Susan Parker and Judi Martin, both of Attleboro and a sister, Jane Young of Attleboro. She was also survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the Murray Unitarian/Universalist Church, 505 North main St., Attleboro on Saturday, June 2 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Elsie Oliveira, 86
No. Dartmouth - Elsie Oliveira, 86, of No. Dartmouth died Tuesday morning, March 13, 2001 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home in New Bedford. She was the loving wife of Manuel Oliveira.

Born November 7, 1914 in New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Montague) Medeiros.

Mrs.Oliveira was a resident of North Dartmouth for the past 50 years.

She worked for M & S Dress Co. in New Bedford for over 30 years before retiring several years ago.

Besides her husband of over 52 years, survivors include; a daughter, Velma Fletcher of Plaistow, New Hampshire, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were private.

Lillian Paioni, 78
ATTLEBORO - Lillian W. Paioni, 78, of Attleboro died March 3, 2001 at Ridgewood Court Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Paioni.

She was born January 5, 1923 in Framingham, and was a daughter of the late Ellen Ward. She has been a resident of Attleboro for the past 3 years previously living in North Attleboro for 12 years. She was a longtime resident of Assonet.

Mrs. Paioni was a homemaker and leaves no immediate survivors. Burial took place in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI.

Charles R. Parker, Sr., 73
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Charles R. Parker, Sr., of North Attleboro died Tuesday morning, April 17 2001 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Kathy (Wilcox) Parker.

Born October 21, 1927 in Providence, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Lewis and Mary (Crowley) Parker.

Mr. Parker was a resident of North Attleboro most of his life. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran.

He was a professional bowler, owning Parker’s Pro Shop at the North Bowl Lanes in North Attleboro. He worked at the North Bowl for many years and then opened his own pool hall called The Golden Q in North Attleboro from 1965-1982 and then owned the pro shop at the Cranston Bowl in Cranston, RI from 1985-1993.

He was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association.

His survivors include a son, Charles R. Parker, Jr. of North Attleboro; three sisters, Grace Johnson of Cumberland, RI, Mary Thurber of Johnston, RI and Elizabeth Walker of Pennsylvania ; two brothers, John Parker of Rehoboth and Louis Parker of North Attleboro; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.

He was brother of the late Phoebe Johnson, William Parker, and Ruth James.

A funeral service was held in the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro on Friday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours were on Thursday evening from 7 - 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Parker’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St.; Framingham, MA 01701.

Helen B. Peczynski
Worked in N.A. Building Inspector’s Office for 35 years
No. Attleboro - Helen B. Peczynski of Old Post Road died Friday afternoon, March 16, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

She was the wife of the late Stanley Peczynski.

Born August 17, 1917 in Chelsea, MA , she was a daughter of the late Michael and Feliska (Gryzb) Bodinski.

Mrs. Peczynski was a lifelong resident of No. Attleboro. She graduated from No. Attleboro High School and the former Burdette Secretarial College in Boston.

She was a secretary for the Building Inspector’s Office in the town of No. Attleboro for 35 years before retiring in 1999. She also was a former payroll clerk for the No. Attleboro Police and Fire Departments.

Mrs. Peczynski was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in No. Attleboro.

Her survivors include; a daughter, Judy Benes of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Chester Bodinski of No. Attleboro and Edward Bodinski of Cincinnati, OH; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Carol Harrop.

A funeral was held from the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park St., No. Attleboro at 10 o’clock. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visiting hours were held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Peczynski’s memory may be made to the Madonna Manor Nursing Home, 85 No. Washington St., No. Attleboro, MA 02760.

WILLENA M. PETTENGILL, 82

PLAINVILLE - Willena M. Pettengill, 82, of Plainville died early Sunday morning, April 8, 2001 at the Charlwell House in Norwood.

She was the wife of Hardy Pettengill.

Born October 16, 1918 in Canada, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Lucy (McKinnon) Hines.

Mrs. Pettengill was a resident of Plainville since 1985, previously residing in Walpole for 24 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro.

She was a homemaker all of her life and avid bingo player.

Besides her husband, survivors include four daughters, Janice Inglis of Mansfield, Deborah Loring of Salem, NH, Diane Martin of Epson, NH and Leota Mansour of Mansfield; a sister, Helen Benoit of Falmouth; two brothers, Terrence Hines of Ashland and Edward Hines of W. Newton; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held in the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro on Wednesday at 12 noon. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours were held on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.

Grace M. Pietro, 87

Norwood - Grace M. Pietro, 87, of Norwood died Sunday evening, May 27, 2001 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Norwood.

She was the wife of the late Daniel A. Pietro.

Born March 31, 1914 in New York City, New York, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Catherine (Scirica) Campo.

Mrs. Pietro was a resident at the Sunrise Assisted Living of Norwood for the past 2 years and previously resided in Staten Island, NY most of her life.

She was an office assistant at the former S.S. White Manuf. in Princess Bay, Staten Island, retiring in the late 1970’s. Previously, she was a manager for over 30 years at her family’s supermarket, Campo’s Supermarket in Newdorp, Staten Island.

She was an active contributor to Deborah Hospital in New Jersey and a member of the Newdorp Friendship Club.

Her survivors include a son, Dr. Daniel Pietro of Canton, Medical Director at Sturdy Memorial Hospital; a daughter, Mary Catherine Hafner of Staten Island, NY; a sister, Jean Lyman of Staten Island, NY; and a brother, Fred Campo of Staten Island, NY. She was also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

A funeral will be held from the Colonial Funeral Home, 2819 Hyland Blvd.; Staten Island, New York on Saturday, June 2 at 8: 30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Queen Of Peace Church, Newdorp, Staten Island, NY at 9: 30 a.m.

Local arrangements provided by Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro.

Ruth V. Plante, 79

PLAINVILLE - Ruth V. Plante, 79, of Elizabeth St., Plainville died Friday night, April 6, 2001 at her home.

She was the wife of Raymond A. Plante, formerly of Pawtucket, since 1982 and the late Robert Fenton.

Born February 5, 1922 in No. Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Marie (Verronneau) Beaupre.

Mrs. Plante was a resident of Plainville for the past 18 years, previously residing in No. Attleboro. She was a graduate of No. Attleboro High School, Class of 1939.

Before retiring in 1982, she worked at Hilco and Fairfield Optical as well as the former Attleboro Trust Bank.

She was an avid rooter and supporter of North Attleboro Football.

Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Beth Olivera of Attleboro; three sons, John Fenton of Atlanta, GA, Mark Fenton of Wrentham and Robert Fenton of Phoenix, AZ; a stepson, Stephen Plante of Pawtucket; three step-daughters, Genevieve Garwasiuk of Edmunton, Canada, Nancy Plante of San Pedro, CA and Terry Simpson of Narragansett, RI; a brother, Richard Beaupre of No. Attleboro and an aunt, Cora Labrie of So. Attleboro. She was also survived by 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was sister of the late Edna Newman, Murtal French and Eli, Raymond, Larry and Robert Beaupre.

A funeral will be held from the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro on Wednesday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mark’s Church, 105 Stanley St., Attleboro Falls at 9 o’clock. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, No. Attleboro.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Plante’s memory may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, Mass. Chapter, 495 Old Connecticut Path, Framingham, MA 01701.
