Catherine H. Putnicki, 90
Norton - Catherine H. Putnicki, 90, of Norton died Wednesday morning, March 14, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Putnicki.
Born February 19, 1911 in Springfield, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Veronica (Dembrovska) Malachowski.
Mrs. Putnicki was a resident of Norton for the past 22 years and previously resided in Hyde Park.
She worked for the Boston Envelope Co. as a supervisor for over forty years, retiring in 1976.
She enjoyed crocheting and doing crosswoods, but her grandchildren were her great love.
Her survivors include; two sons, Paul Putnicki of Burlington, MA and Carl Putnicki of Abita Springs, LA; a daughter, Judith Moynihan of Norton; a sister, Alice Pilch of Three Rivers, MA; a brother, Edmund Malachowski of Hampdon, MA; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Saturday, March 17 at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mark’s Church, Attleboro Falls at 9 o’clock. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery
in Hyde Park.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

Douglas R. Reed, 56
Orleans - Douglas R. Reed, 56, of Orleans died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at the Epoch Senior Health Care Center in Brewster.
Born September 2, 1944 in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Gardner and Priscilla (Swett) Reed.
Mr. Reed was a resident of Orleans for the past 5 years, previously residing in Wakefield, MA. He worked in the building industry.
His survivors include two sons, Jeffrey R. Reed of Nahant, MA and Douglas G. Reed of Florida, two brothers, Rev. Canon Robert C. Reed of Dublin, Ireland and Richard G. Reed of Alexandria, VA and a sister, Melissa R. Learned of Chatham.
Funeral services will be private.

Dr. Barbara Rhodes
Osteopath in Pawtucket
Taunton - Dr. Barbara Rhodes, 84, of Taunton died Sunday, March 18, 2001 at Longmeadow of Taunton.
Born March 20, 1916 in No. Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Marion (Bridges) Rhodes.
Dr. Rhodes was a resident of Plainville for most of her life before going into the nursing home in Taunton about three years ago. She was a graduate of Plainville High School, Class of 1933 and then graduated from the College of Osteopathy & Surgery in Kirksville, Missouri in 1937.
She was an osteopath and had her practice at Parkplace in Pawtucket for 42 years, retiring in 1978.
Her survivors include a sister, Alta M. Rhodes of Taunton, a niece, Joan M. Thayer of Niantic, CT, and a good friend and guardian, Helen Haskell of Berkeley.
She was sister of the late Alden Davis Rhodes.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery
in No. Attleboro on Friday, March 23, 2001 at 11 A.M. with the Reverend James Tilbe of the First Congregational Church of Raynham, officiating.

Lillian M. Robinson, 78
Norton - Lillian M. Robinson, 78, of Norton and previously of Attleboro died Thursday, May 17, 2001 at Epoch Senior Care Center of Norton.
Born December 27, 1922 in Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Alfred F. and Bertha (Beaulieu) Robinson.
Miss Robinson was a resident of Attleboro all of her life until going into the nursing home in September of 1998. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School.
She loved to knit and enjoyed gardening.
Her survivors include four sisters; Dorothy Brochu of Attleboro,
Loretta Laferriere of Tampa, FL,
Rita Garland of Edgewater, FL,
Edna Salnier of North Attleboro
and many nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Mildred Robinson.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, 18 Baltic St., South Attleboro on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at 12 p.m.

Lillian M. Seymour, 93
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Lillian M. Seymour, 93, of North Washington Street died Friday evening, April 27, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Emile A. Seymour.
Born October 15, 1907 in Auburn, MA, she was a daughter of the late Adelard and Hosanna (Bourgeois) Vandette.
Mrs. Seymour has been a resident of North Attleboro nearly all her life. She had worked for Whiting and Davis and Evans Case before retiring from Augat Co. in Attleboro as a supervisor at age 62.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of St. Ann’s Sodality. She also enjoyed gardening, painting and teaching ceramics.
Her survivors include a son, Roland Seymour of North Attleboro; three sisters, Anna Vandette, Anita Grimaldi and Claire Desmarais all of North Attleboro; a brother, Albert Vandette of Marlboro; three grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was sister of the late Adrienne Geary and Clarence, Arthur and Raymond Vandette.
A funeral will be held from SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mark’s Church, Attleboro Falls at 10 O’clock. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

Attleboro - Mary I. (Healy) Simms, 90, of Attleboro died early Tuesday morning, May 29, 2001 at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Attleboro.
She was the wife of the late Harold Simms.
Born May 10, 1911 in North Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (McGann) Healy.
Mrs. Simms was a resident of Attleboro all of her life and graduated from Attleboro High School in 1931.
She was an Avon distributor for over 20 years and otherwise was a homemaker.
Her survivors include; a daughter, Linda R. O’Connell of Mansfield; a son, Keith M. Simms of Attleboro and a grand-daughter, Erin O’Connell of Mansfield.
Funeral services will be private.

Lonny R. Smith, 53
Chaplain at Fuller Memorial Hospital
Norton - Lonny R. Smith, 53, of Precourt Lane died Monday, April 9, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
He was the wife Laura (Diekjobst) Smith.
Born July 26, 1947 in Geary, Oklahoma , he was a son of Grady W. and Florence (Slate) Smith.
Mr. Lonny was a resident of Norton for 4 years, previously residing in North Attleboro and South Attleboro.
He attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from the seminary at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
He was a chaplain at Fuller Memorial Hospital in South Attleboro for 9 years and previously pastored churches in Missouri, Kansas and Iowa. He was also a part-time instructor at Community Care Services in Attleboro.
He was a member of the College of Chaplains with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Besides his wife and parents, survivors include two sons; Jeffrey Smith of Canada and Jacob Smith of Michigan; one daughter, Jennifer Parnell of Michigan; two step-daughters, Laurie and Jennifer Gonzalez, both of Norton; one brother, Leroy Smith of Moore, Oklahoma ; one sister, Aneta Chen of South Pasedina, California and three step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Lincoln Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1000 Smithfield Ave., Lincoln, RI on Saturday, April 14 at 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

John A. Spittell, 81
Swank Retiree
ATTLEBORO - John A. Spittell, 81, of School Street died at home Thursday evening, April 12, 2001.
He was the husband of Dorothy (Courchine) Spittell.
Born January 31, 1920 in Lowell, he was a son of the late Harvey W. and Magdeline (Terryell) Spittell.
Mr. Spittell has been a resident of Attleboro nearly all his life and was a graduate of Attleboro High School. He was a jewelry polisher at Swanks in Attleboro for 37 years before his retirement at age 62. He also served the U.S. Army during World War II in European Theatre and was discharged as a Technician 4th grade.
He was an avid fisherman and spent most of his spare time with his family.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Jo-Ann Lavigne of Rockport, MA; seven sons, Michael Spittell of Monrovia, MD, David Hosford of Attleboro, Dale Hosford of North Carolina, Daniel Hosford of Attleboro, Dwayne Hosford of North Carolina, Dennis Hosford of Rehoboth, and Darrell Hosford of Pawtucket, RI.; a brother, Harvey W. Spittell of Henderson, NV; a sister, Ilene Deavellar of Attleboro. Also survived by 13 grandchilren and many nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Robert Spittell.
A funeral will be held on Monday evening in SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro starting at 5pm with a service to follow at 7: 30 p.m. Burial will take place privately.
