Eleanor (Tupper) Field Pillsbury, of Abington, June 29, 2005 Age 88. Widow of Alfred P. “Bud” Pillsbury. Mother of Nancy Porteus of Dennisport, Thomas T. Field of E. Killingly, CT, Patricia P. Donlan and Priscilla Wirrell of Middleboro, Rachel Walsh and Johanna Dupuis of Falmouth. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 9th in the United Church of Christ, 10 Bedford St. Abington at 11: 00 AM. Donations may be made to the United Church of Christ, 10 Bedford St. Abington, MA. 02351.
Mrs. Pillsbury died at the Eagle Pond Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dennis after a period of failing health. She was born in Brockton, daughter of the late Gordon and Gracie (Leach) Tupper and was raised and educated in Abington. She received both her BA and Masters degrees in teaching at Bridgewater State College.
She was a Pre-School teacher at the Humpty Dumpty Pre-School which was located at the former North Congregational Church in Abington and for many years was a transitional first grade teacher at the North School in Abington.
Eleanor was a member of the United Church of Christ in Abington and had served on the board of deacons at the church. She also had been very active in the Women’s Fellowship at the church. She was a member of the Abington Council on Aging. Rev. Stan Duncan will officiate at the services and burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in S. Weymouth.

Linda I. (Barton) Lemos, of Abington June 26, 2005 Age 55. Wife of James L. Lemos. Daughter of Corrine (Thornton) of Abington and the late Charles Barton. Mother of Darlene Feneck of Rockland, Melynda Conant of Abington and the late James L. Lemos, Jr. Sister of Charles Barton of Wash. State, Walter Barton of Abington, Kathy Roberts of Brockton, Donald Barton of Abington and the late Richard Barton. Also survived by 3 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter. A Graveside service will be held at a later date.
Linda died Sunday in her home in Abington after a long illness. She was born in Quincy, MA and raised and educated in Abington.
Linda had worked for over 15 years as a cook in the Mildred Alfred Nursing Home and the South Shore Nursing Facility in Rockland. She loved the ocean, trips to Cape Cod, butterflies and all her bird feeders. On a nice day Linda could always be found working in one of her many gardens and feeding the birds.

Anthony J. Alfonso, of Rockland, June 26, 2005 Age 74. Husband of Frances (Grieco) Alfonso of Rockland. Father of Joseph G. Alfonso of Chicopee, Pamela Deming of Rockland and Anthony J. Alfonso Jr. of Methuen. Brother of Rose Murphy of Braintree, Salvatore Alfonso of East Boston, and the late Joseph Alfonso, Phyllis Driscoll, Palma Sheppard, Connie Mara, Mary Lichtman and Josephine Arena. Also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter.
A Funeral wase held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Thursday June 30th at 8: 15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church at 9: 00 AM. Calling Hours were on Wednesday June 29th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
Anthony died Sunday in the Oxford Nursing Home in Haverhill after a long illness. He was born in Boston, MA and raised and educated in the North End of Boston. He had lived the past 40 years in Rockland. He was the dog officer for the Town of Rockland for over 20 years and was also a meat cutter for Stop & Shop and in his younger days worked at shoe factories in the Lawrence area.
Mr. Alfonso was a member and past Grand Knight of the Rockland Knights of Columbus and a 4th degree Knight. Anthony was an army Veteran, member of the Rockland Sons of Italy, Member of the Rockland Building Committee and organized the Rockland Desert Storm Parade and also the parade for astronaut Brian Duffy. Mr. Alfonso was an avid salt water fisherman. Burial followed the Mass Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.

Theodore F. "Ted" Hayden, of of Rockland June 26, 2005 Age 47. Husband of Mary Ellen (Rawson) Hayden of Rockland. Father of Nathan F. Hayden and Jacob Marley Hayden both of Rockland. Son of Ann E. (Thompson) and Edward F. Hayden of Marshfield. Brother of Elizabeth Hayden of Marshfield, Martha Hayden of UT, Barbara Hayden WA and Jonathan Hayden of TX.
A Funeral was held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Friday July 1st at 8: 15 AM. A Funeral Mass followed in Holy Family Church at 9: 00 AM. Calling hours Thursday June 30th from 6-9 PM. Donations may be made to Hospice of the South Shore 100 Baystate Rd. Braintree, MA 02184.
Ted died Sunday at home after a brief illness. He was born in Weymouth and was raised and educated in Marshfield. He lived in Quincy before moving to Rockland 14 years ago. Ted was an avid reader, loved to cook for his family, roller blade, speed skate and played roller hockey at the Marshfield rink for many years.
More than anything he loved to watch his son Jacob pitch and play baseball. Ted was proud to watch his son play the sport he had worked to teach him. Ted was an operations manager for H. R. I. in Brookline for quite a few years. He would move from hospital to hospital and do various management tasks to get them back on track.

Annette Wiggin, of Rockland, June 24, 2005 Age 91. Sister of the late Helen Wiggin. Memorial Service Sunday July 10th, at 2: 00 PM in the Kingdom Hall of Jehova’s Witnesses, 339 Summer St. Rockland Calling hours are omitted. Donations may be made to Hospice of Greater Brockton 500 Belmont St Brockton MA 02301
Mrs. Wiggin died at home on Friday June 24th surrounded by her friends. Ms. Wiggin was born in Rockland daughter of the late Norman and Florence (Junkins) Wiggin. In the first year of her life Anette’s family moved to Norwell where Anette lived for the next 90 years of her life. She was an active member of the Rockland, Hanover, and Quincy congregations of Jehovas Witnesses for the past 68 years. Ms. Wiggin ran a business with her sister the late Helen Wiggin, where the two of them handmade fine wool braided rugs for over 50 years. Burial will be private.

Kenneth L. Parmenter, of Rockland, June 23, 2005 Age 62. Husband of Nancy A. (Pieleckas) Parmenter. Son of Helen (Lacombe) Parmenter of Rockland and the late Henry L. Parmenter. Father of Jackie L. Parmenter, Kimberly J. Parmenter and Scott A. Bruns of Rockland, Kathy Rock of New Bedford, Michael R. Bruns of Brockton and Tina M. Nelthrop of NJ. Brother of Nancy J. Parmenter of Rockland. Also survived by 11 grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, June 28th at 11: 30 AM in the First Congregational Church, Union and Church Sts. Rockland. Calling hours were held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND will be on Monday, June 27th from 6-9 PM. Donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 12 Church St. Rockland, MA. 02370.
Ken died at his home on Thursday surrounded by his family and cared for by the Hospice of the South Shore. He was born raised and educated in Rockland and has been a lifelong resident of the town. He formerly served on the Board of Director’s of Rockland Youth Football.
For several years he had been the owner operator of Parmenter Construction Co. in Rockland. He later worked for P.A. Landers in Hanover and until the time of his illness he held the position of maintenance co-ordinator for the Harmon Golf Club in Rockland.
Mr. Parmenter was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rockland and had served in the U.S. Army at Fort Seal Oklahoma during the Vietnam Conflict.
Burial followed the funeral services in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Rockland.

Christine C. (Craven) Carlson, of Rockland, June 20, 2005 Age 83. Widow of John W. Carlson, Jr. Mother of Lawrence J. Carlson and his wife Sarah A. of Marshfield. Sister of Louise Lydon of FL and the late Paul Craven and Mary O’Neil. Grand Mother of Kristin A. Carlson, Elizabeth A. Carlson and John C. Carlson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral was held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Friday, June 24th at 10: 15 AM. A Funeral Mass followed in Holy Family Church at 11: 00 AM. Calling Hours were held on Thursday, June 23rd from 4-7 PM. Donations may be made to the Hundred Club of Massachusetts, Inc. 17 Gloucester St. Boston, MA 02115-2002.
Christine died Monday after a long illness in the Eastwood Care Center in Dedham. She was born in Boston daughter of the late Catherine (Loftus) and Michael Craven. Mrs. Carlson was raised and educated in Dorchester. Mrs. Carlson worked for many years as a teller for Shawmut Bank in Dorchester’s Upham’s Corner.
She was a member of the Leisure Woods Red Hats. Being widowed 32 years ago her world was her children and Grandchildren . She was proud to be totally independent until 3 months ago. Burial followed the Mass in St. Josephs Cemetery in West Roxbury with her husband John.

Walter B. "Bernie" Ledwell, of W. Harwich formerly of Rockland , June 19, 2005 Age 80. Husband of the late Rita F. (O’Brien) Ledwell. Father of Paul J. Ledwell of RI, Michael of AR, Bernard of MO, Richard of HI, Marie West of CO, and the late Peter, Dennis, and Thomas Ledwell. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
A Funeral was held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Friday, June 24th at 8: 15 AM. A Funeral followed in Holy Family Church at 9: 00 AM. Calling hours were held on Thursday, June 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Donations may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod 923 Route 6A Yarmouthport, MA 02675.
W. Bernard Ledwell died Sunday in the Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Ledwell was born in South Weymouth, son of the late Rita (Desusa) and Walter Ledwell. Walter raised and educated in Rockland graduating from Rockland High School in 1944 and was a member of the Class of 44 weekly meetings. Walter had spent the past 18 years living in W. Harwich.
Walter was a Rockland fireman and was superintendent of the fire alarm division for about 30 years and also worked for many years for Raytheon as an electrician at the Braintree office.
Mr. Ledwell was a member of the Rockland Knights of Columbus, WWII Navy Veteran and a member of the reunion committee of his ship the USS Half Moon. Burial followed the Funeral Mass in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.

Edward G. McParland, of Rockland, June 15, 2005 Age 78. Husband of Virginia M (Berlo) McParland. Brother of Nancy Weiner of Mashpee, and the late Katherine Campbell, Daniel McParland, and James McParland. Also survived by 33 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral was held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Saturday June 18 at 8: 15 AM. Funeral Mass followed in Holy Family Church at 9: 00 AM. Calling Hours were on Friday June 17 from 4-7 PM.
Edward died at his home in Rockland Wednesday morning after a period of failing health. Mr. McParland was born in Brookline son of the late Ellen (Burke) and Daniel L. McParland. Edward received his High School diploma from the Randolph School for the Deaf. Mr. McParland furthered his education earning his Associates Degree in Electronics at the Franklin Institute.
He worked as an Electronics Technician at Varian Associates in Needham for thirty years. He was a 4th degree member the Knights of Columbus in Quincy. Mr. McParland was an avid golfer and loved spending time on the course with his wife Virginia. He was especially proud of the time he hit a hole-in-one at a golf course in Lexington.
He loved to spend time with his many nieces and nephews, especially when he got to cook for them on the grill at family cookouts. Burial followed the Funeral Mass in Blue Hill Cemetery Braintree.

Rachael L Simmons, 5 of Middleboro died on Tuesday in the Morton Hospital in Taunton as a result of complications from Cerebral Palsy. Rachael is the daughter of Scott and Cheryl (Bedell) Simmons of Middleboro. Granddaughter of William L. Simmons of Middleboro, Marilyn L. Simmons of Brockton, and Joyce A. Bedell of Marshfield. Stepdaughter of Richard J. Blanchette of RI. Step-Sister of R.J. and Ashlee Blanchette. Niece of Frederick J. Bedell of Marshfield, and Julie A. Webb of Halifax. Also survived by good friends and caretakers Anne Gaudette and family.
Rachael was a student at the Schwartz Center for Children in New Bedford. She always made people smile and she had an amazing ability to bring people together.
Calling hours were held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St ROCKLAND Monday June 20th from 6-7 PM, A Funeral Service followed the visitation at 7: 00 PM
Memorial donations may be made to the Schwartz Center for Children, Rockdale Ave. New Bedford.
