CHARLES W. MUNROE, JR.

Charles W. Munroe, Jr., 67, died at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Canton on Monday, August 6 after a period of failing health. Born and educated in Boston, Mr. Munroe lived in Stoughton for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a custodian for the MDC for over 30 years before retiring 4 years ago. Mr. Munroe was a member of the VFW Post 1645 in Stoughton and AMVETS Post 1977 in Stoughton.
Mr. Munroe is survived by his brother, Arthur E. Monroe of Stoughton, a niece, Donna Melegian of Florida and a nephew, John McMahon, Jr. of Braintree. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Munroe and Mildred E. (Davis) Munroe, and 2 sisters, Grace Shulakovsky and Mildred Monroe.
Mr. Munroe will be cremated at Forest Hills Crematory in Boston and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be sent to Old Colony Hospice, 14 Page Terr., Stoughton, 02072.

JOHN S. PALERMO

John S. Palermo, 60, died Sunday at Boston Medical Center. He was the husband of Judith A. (Forrester) (Hardy). Born in Boston, He was a graduate of Boston Schools and Jamaica Plain High School. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local 7 and the Stoughton VFW.
Mr. Palermo was the father of Roy S. McDermott and Thomas M. Palermo both of Weymouth, John W. Palermo of Boston, Francis Tracy of Florida, Lisa Tracy Hanrahan of Quincy, Joseph P. Palermo of South Boston and Richard A. Palermo of Stoughton. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON on Wednesday, August 8, at 8 PM. Visiting Hours prior to the service from 4-8 PM. Donations in John's memory may be sent to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607-1435

JOSE DE SOUSA

Jose De Sousa Jr., 87, died Wednesday at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton. He was the husband of Gracinda (Jorge) Born in Portugal, he was educated there and immigrated to the U.S. in 1969 and settled in Cambridge. He later moved to Sommerville where he has lived for many years. He worked as a kitchen helper at Pier 4 Restaurant in Boston and also at the Howard Johnsons in Cambridge. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and playing cards.
In addition to his wife he leaves his children: Maria Arruda and Virginia Bettencourt both of Randolph, Joseph Sousa of Reading, Manuel Sousa and Adriano Sousa and Otilia Moreira all of Portugal. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 1 granddaughter.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON on Saturday at 8: 15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 6-9 PM.

MELVIN M. CARIOFILES

Funeral Services: Saturday, August 4, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton, 10 AM
Melvin M. Cariofiles, 69, died Tuesday at the Deaconess-Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of Demetra (Georgountzos). Born in Boston, he was a 1949 graduate of Boston English and a graduate of Suffolk University in 1953, where he was also the student body president. He was a member of Who's who of American Students that same year. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 in Korea. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Cariofiles was the president of the Boston Office of Savino Del Bene from where he retired in 1998. He was employed there for about 18 years. In his free time he enjoyed cooking and was an avid sports fan and follower of the Red Sox and Patriots.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Nicholas and his wife Roula of Stoughton, George and his wife Patricia of Dedham and Leslie Nikou and her husband Charles of Foxboro. Brother of Elaine Pramas and her husband William of Peabody and the late James Cariofiles. Brother in law of Theone and William Orphanos of Jamaica Plain, Aglaia Chrysikos of Canton, Christos and Christine Georgountzos of Yarmouth and Vassilios and Helen Georgountzos of Newton. Also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Alex, Peter, Michael and Demetra Cariofiles.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON on Saturday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Service at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St, Brockton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-9 PM. Donations in Melvin's memory may be sent to American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-9813.

JOHN R. GREENE, SR.
Visiting Hours: Thursday, August 2, 2-4 & 7-9 PM
Funeral Services: Friday, August 3, Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, 10 AM
John R. Greene Sr., 77, a retired Boston Police Officer, died Monday at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of Ann M. (Hanlon). Born in Boston, he was educated in Boston Schools. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps in WWII, where he served in the Marshall Islands and was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star as well as the Purple Heart and a presidential citation. He worked as a Boston Police Officer from 1951 until 1984. While working as a police officer, Mr. Greene delivered 17 babies on the job. He was a member of the Boston Police Patrolman's Assoc., the Boston Police Emerald Society, Stoughton Amvets, Stoughton VFW Post 1645, the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council #200, and the Semper Fidelis Society.
In addition to his wife he leaves his children: James Hanlon of FL, John W. Hanlon, John R. Greene Jr., Nancy Mulcahy and William T. all of Stoughton, Susan Burke of Mansfield and Kerry of Stoughton. Brother of Bess Dewing of FL, Katherine Burke of NH, Patricia Greene of MD, Roseanne Orsino of Melrose, Margaret McKinnon of FL and Thomas Greene of NH and the late Mary Woods. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON on Friday at 8: 15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

RUTH B. DONOVAN

Ruth B. Donovan, 88, died at Sunbridge of Lexington in Lexington on Friday, July 27, after a period failing health. Miss Donovan is the daughter of the late Daniel C. and Frances M. (Breslin) Donovan. Born and educated in Boston, she was a longtime resident of Cambridge and lived in Arlington for the past 10 years. She was a supervisor at AT & T and New England Telephone for 45 years before retiring in 1975. She was also a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
Miss Donovan is the aunt of Paul F. Ferzoco, Paul F. Ferzoco, Jr. and Ruthann Ferzoco, all of Stoughton
Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main St., Easton on Tuesday at 9 AM. Visitation will be at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON prior to the Mass from 7: 45-8: 30 AM. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Easton.

THOMAS P. "CARGO" BRENNAN

Thomas P. "Cargo" Brennan, 59, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 26 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He is the husband of Teresa "Toots" (Sugrue) Brennan. Mr. Brennan was born, grew up and was educated in Charlestown. He has lived in Stoughton for the past 30 years. He was a Boston Police Officer from 1968-1980 and more recently was the maintenance supervisor at Catholic Memorial High School in W. Roxbury. He was a member of the Hall of Fame for the Drum and Bugle Corp. Majestic Knights in Charlestown, as well as a member of the Wednesday @ 7 singing group.
Along with his wife Teresa, Mr. Brennan is survived by his children, Thomas P. Brennan, Stoughton Police Department, Kerry A. Brennan, Stephen D. Brennan, Shawn P. Brennan, Christopher R. Brennan and Coleen M. Brennan all of Stoughton, his grandchildren, Kyle Brennan and Cole Brennan and a brother, Robert Brennan of Charlestown. He is the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Conroy) Brennan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Richard Brennan.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON on Monday at 9: 15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 4-8 PM. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.

MILDRED M. (CALL) ROGERS

Funeral Mass: Monday, October 22, 9 AM, St. Michael Church, 87 N. Main Street, Avon.
Mildred M. (Call) Rogers, 84, a longtime resident of Avon, died Thursday at home. She was the wife of the late John F. Rogers. Born in Boston, she was raised in South Boston and was a graduate of Gate of Heaven School and St. Peter and Paul High School. She worked as a Loan Officer at State Street Bank in Quincy and Boston for many years and was retired. In her free time, Mrs. Rogers enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, sewing, reading and movies. She was active with the Avon Seniors.
She leaves her children: Jane R. White of Avon, Ann Marie "Nancy" Rogers Downey of S. Boston, John F. "Jeff" Rogers of Marshfield and Ellen R. Nagle of Avon. She was the sister of Gertrude Mack of S. Boston. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON on Monday at 8: 15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael Church, Avon at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 4-7 PM. Donations in Mildred's memory may be sent to Hospice of Greater Brockton, 500 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301. Burial will be private.

ROSE (SACCO) IPPOLITO
Visiting Hours: Thursday, October 18, 4-8 PM
Funeral Mass: Friday, October 19, 9 AM, Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 1160 Park Street, Stoughton.
Rose (Sacco) Ippolito, 85, died at San Ramon Regional Medical Center in San Ramon, CA after a brief illness on Thursday, October 11. She is the wife of the late John F. Ippolito. Born and educated in Boston, Mrs. Ippolito has lived in Danville, CA for the past 4 years. Before moving to Danville, she had lived in Dennisport since 1980 and had lived several years in Dedham and W. Roxbury before that. She worked at Sears in Dedham for 10 years as a retail clerk before retiring in 1980. After retiring from Sears, she worked at the Christmas Tree Shop in Yarmouth for several years. She loved praying the rosary and reading in her free time.
Mrs. Ippolito is survived by her daughter, Louise R. Larkin of Danville, CA, her sons, Ralph J. Ippolito of Quincy, John J. Ippolito of N. Easton and Charles A. Ippolito of Norwood and a sister, Helen Sacco of Wakefield. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Along with her husband John, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) STOUGHTON on Friday at 8: 15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Donations in Rose's memory may be sent to American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, 01701 or American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research, 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
