Gerald “Jerry” Raymond Doherty, Sr., age 82 years passed away Wednesday August 18th at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was the husband of Lorraine LaPlume-Doherty of Quincy and the late Lucia (Minerva) Doherty.
Born in Brockton he was the son of the late George Frederick and Beatrice (McNeil) Doherty. He was a long time resident of Brockton and a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1947. He had been a resident of Quincy for the past 8 years. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was employed at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy and later on worked for the School Department for the City of Brockton from which he retired. He belonged to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was also a past member of the I.T.A.M. of Brockton. Jerry enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, reading and coin collecting. He was also a former member of the former St. Colman’s Church in Brockton and most recently attended the Most Holy Trinity Church in Quincy.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his four children; Gerald R. Doherty, Jr. of Pennsylvania , Mark G. Doherty and his wife Susan of Halifax, Rosemary Doherty Grosso and John Freitas of West Bridgewater and Joanne Eklund and her husband Scott of Raynham; Four Grandchildren, Jennifer Ginnetty of Carver, Jessica Walsh also of Carver, Christopher Eklund of Utah and Nicole Grosso of Mansfield and Four Great Grandchildren, Krista, Lauren and Kevin Ginnetty and Riley Walsh; Five Sisters, Eileen Smith, Eleanor Beliveau, Barbara Keohane, Grace Orcutt and Claire Kathleen Jooris. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Molly. Two brothers, Robert and George Doherty, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday August 21st in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am at Christ the King Parish (Formerly St. Colman’s) 42 Wendell Ave., Brockton, MA 02302. Interment will follow the service in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater, MA.
Visitation will be today Friday August 20th from 4~7pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to: The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Barbara A. (Leary) Orlando

Barbara A. (Leary) Orlando age 78 years of Brockton, MA died Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Ernest Orlando.
Born Sunday, April 3, 1932 in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Gloria (Caldwell) Leary.
Barbara was educated in Brockton Schools and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She was a life long resident of Brockton and had worked for over 20 years in Brockton Public School Cafeteria. She enjoyed cooking and most of all spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by three children Karen Carriuolo and her husband David of Middleboro, Ernest A. Orlando and his wife Cindy of Hampton, NH and Lisa Burke of Brockton; nine grandchildren Erin, Joseph, Scott, Gina, Craig, Nicholas, Courtney, Ashley and Jordan; six great-grandchildren and a brother Arthur “Jay” Leary and his wife Cheryl of Middleboro.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater, MA.
Visitation will take place on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 4-8 PM.

Doris M. (Northrop) (Pierce) Thomas

Doris M. (Northrop) (Pierce) Thomas, age 81 years of Cape Cod, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehab Center in Buzzards Bay, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Robert R. Pierce and the late Francis Thomas. Born Saturday, February 2, 1929 in Quincy, MA, she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Gladys (Musgrave) Northrop.
Doris grew up in Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School. She moved to the Cape after marrying her first husband Robert and has been a long time resident of Cape Cod. She worked most of her life in the Secretarial field. As for hobbies, Doris enjoyed painting, teaching ceramics, cooking, collecting cookbooks, going out to dinner, socializing and traveling around the Cape.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Turnbull and her husband Myron of Middleboro, MA and Ronald A. Pierce and his wife Virginia of Delaware; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many close friends. She was also the mother of the late Robert Randall Pierce, Jr.
Memorial Visitation will take place on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 4-7 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville, MA. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM in Mosswood Cemetery in Barnstable, MA.

Sally Ann (Chace) Goodwin

Sally Ann (Chace) Goodwin aged 68 years of Lakeville passed away Monday November 8, 2010 at her home in Lakeville. She was the loving wife of F. Wendell Goodwin for 49 years. Born Thursday November 27, 1941 in Fall River, MA she was the daughter of Lois B. (Simcock) Chace and the late Kenneth G. Chace, Sr.
Sally grew up in Swansea, MA and was a graduate of Case High School and continued her education at Massasoit's Nursing program. She moved to Lakeville after marrying her husband Wendell. She worked most of her life in the medical field, with a majority of it spent as a certified nursing assistant for the former Lakeville State Hospital. She later retired from Wal-Mart. Sally enjoyed many crafts especially painting and rag rugs. She also enjoyed going on her computer and playing Pogo and chatting with her Face book family. She loved to visit the State of Vermont, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Wendell and her mother Lois, Sally is survived by 3 children; Gregory A. Goodwin & his Wife Laura of Assonet, Wendy J. Tetreault & her Husband Dennis of Lakeville, and Kendra L. Moulton & her Husband Michael of Carver. She has one brother Kenneth G. Chace, Jr. & his Wife Louise of Swansea. 7 Grandchildren; Shelby R. Goodwin, Briana L. Goodwin, Brooke E. Tetreault, Bret O. Tetreault, Cody R. Goodwin, Emily E. Moulton, and Alexander M. Moulton. A close friend Myra L. Freeman who used to come by and visit everyday, and 2 life long best friends Cheryl Burnham and Marie Baird.
Visitation will take place on Thursday November 11, 2010 from 4-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday November 12, 2010 at 10am at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347, burial will follow at Sampson Cemetery in Lakeville. Marilyn T. (Quinn) Johnson

Marilyn T. (Quinn) Johnson, age 81 years of Brockton, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital after a period of failing health, with family by her side. She was the wife of the late Robert Johnson for 53 years.
Born August 27, 1929 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Waldo and Alice (Donovan) Quinn.
Marilyn graduated from Hyde Park High School and soon after was employed by Obrien and Russell Insurance Co. of Boston, until she and her husband ‘Bob’ began their family. She then took on her role as dedicated housewife and mother, moving to Brockton in 1959 and loving raised eight children with her husband of 53 years.
Marilyn enjoyed playing bingo for many years, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed numerous vacations to Las Vegas, Florida, and Cape Cod with her husband after his retirement.
She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in West Bridgewater. Marilyn was a dedicated believer in the miracles of St. Jude, her patron saint. She will also be remembered for her variety of home baked pies that she shared with family and friends during the holidays. She was devoted to her family, and a true friend to many. She will be sadly missed.
Marilyn was the loving mother of Linda M. Dutcher of Brockton, Robert E. Johnson, Jr. of Florida, James J. Johnson of Ohio, Marie Johnson of Brockton, William Johnson of Brewster, Nancy Macaya and her husband Mike of Brockton, Mary Coutts and her husband David, also of Brockton, and Alice Mackin and her husband William of West Bridgewater. She will be sadly missed by her 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Walter Quinn and his wife Kathleen of Brockton, and the late Mary A. Stetson.
Her funeral service will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater, MA. Interment will follow at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 pm. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home.

George T. Hutchins

George T. Hutchins age 80 years of Brockton, MA died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at his home after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Catherine I. (MacDonald) Hutchins for 56 years.
Born Monday, April 28, 1930 in Boston, MA he was the son of the late Fredrick and Elizabeth (Johnson) Hutchins.
George was a graduate of English High School in Boston and has lived in Brockton since 1973. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years as a Staff Sergeant, Intelligent Officer during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield after 20 years of service as a supervisor. He enjoyed gardening, opera and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa”.
In addition to his wife Catherine he is survived by four children Elizabeth Spencer and her husband Jason of East Bridgewater, George T. Hutchins, Jr. of Brockton, Cheryl Ann Carvalho and her husband Julio of New Bedford and John F. Hutchins of Brockton; four grandchildren Amanda, Julio, Jr., Shaka and Caitlyn; two great-grandchildren Taniya and Riley; a brother Fredrick Hutchins and his wife Eva of NH; a sister Winifred Galanski of Saugus and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM in St. Ann’s Church in West Bridgewater followed by interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30.
Visitation will take place on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 from 4-7 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA.

Everett W. Chase, Jr.

Service: Thursday, September 30, 2010, 10:30 AM
At: Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, Brockton, MA
Everett W. Chase, Jr., age 86 years passed away Monday September 27th at the Baypointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. He was the husband of 58 years of Janet (Robb) Chase of Brockton.
Born in Brockton he was the son of the late Everett W., Sr., and Barbara (Winslow) Chase. He had been a life long resident of the city of Brockton. Mr. Chase was the owner of the former Superior Polish Co. He served in the Army during WWII from which he was honorably discharged. He belonged to the American Legion and the St. George Masonic Lodge. Along with his wife he also attended Christ Congregational Church UCC in Brockton.
In addition to his wife a son, James E. Chase and his wife Diane of Charlton, MA, Four grandchildren and a niece and a nephew, survive him. A daughter, Nancy Cunningham preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday September 30th at 10:30 am in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA 02301. Interment will be at a later date in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
Visitation will be on Wednesday September 29th from 6-8pm.

Ruth Ellen Stetson

Ruth Ellen Stetson missed the planning meeting for the BHS 50th reunion on Wednesday, September 15. She passed away, suddenly, earlier that day. She left behind a sad little dog named Zach. ("He's a pistol", she'd say.) She will be missed by folks who counted on her for a ride or a baby blanket, a scarf, hat or bundle of "bookworms". She was an expert at organizing a group photo.
Ruth's parents were Fred T. and Emily (Perkins) Stetson. Like her father and her brother John, she served as President of the Stetson Kindred. She is survived by three more brothers: Fred (Tom), Charles P. and Robert B. Stetson. She also leaves a sister, Lois Root and sisters-in-law: Melissa, Kathleen, Darleen, Concepcion, Helen and Caitilin Stetson. Ruth also was survived by many "F.P."s (favorite people) nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews). Her world included "Little Sisters", Bingo pals, antiquers, the Wednesday card players, former colleagues at National Grid (the Edison Co.) and dozens of cousins. She studied at North Adams State and Stonehill College and supported the Brockton Historical Society.
A memorial service will be held at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home,647 Main St., Brockton on Saturday Sept. 25, 2010 at 10 A.M. Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 24 from 4-7 P.M. at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home..
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or to charities serving abused or lost animals.
