Thelma (Huff) Carle, 85, of Brockton, formerly of Boston, died on Friday at Baypointe in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Charles Carle Sr. She was born on February 26, 1919 in Augusta, Georgia, a daughter of the late John and Carrie (Cummings) Huff. She was employed in years past as a housekeeper and nurse’s aide and was a foster mother. She was given a foster parents award by Social Services of Greater Boston. She resided in Boston most of her life prior to moving to Brockton about 15 years ago where she resided at Belmont West and Caffrey Towers. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton and a member of its Pastor’s Aid Association and she was also a recent member of LIFE Center at the Douglas House in Brockton. She is survived by five children, Barbara Crosby of Brockton, Charles Carle Jr. of South Carolina, Celia Carle of Brockton, Ira Carle of Pennsylvania and Thelma Addo of Kansas, two sisters, Rachel Harris and Martha Allston, both of Boston, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Edward Carle and sister of the late Celia Woodson, Essie Wells, Hazel Dixon, Johnnie Mae Harris, Willie Huff and John Huff. Her funeral service will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 24 Pleasant St. (Rt. 27), Brockton followed by burial at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. Deda Marcelin, 86, of Brockton, died on Friday at Regent Park Manor in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Ferrere Bien-Aime . She was born in Haiti on August 19, 1918, a daughter of the late Adam Marcelin and Lucille Vilme. She was a homemaker and came to New York where she resided for five years until coming to Brockton 13 years ago. She is survived by four children, Rose Marie Elysee, Yanique Bien-Aime, Moise Bien-Aime and Gary Elysee, grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. L. Clayton Wass, 88, of Bridgewater, formerly of Avon for many years, died on Friday at Braemoor Nursing Center in Brockton after a brief illness. He was the husband of Florence G. (Gurney) Wass for 64 years. He was born on May 17, 1916 in Whitman, son of the late Leroy and Alice (Pike) Wass, and was raised in Brockton, graduating from Brockton High School in 1934. He resided in Avon for 53 years prior to moving to Bridgewater in 2002. He was retired from many years of employment as a machinist. He enjoyed R.V. camping and was past state director of North American Family Camping Association and past president of South Shore Camping Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Richard C. Wass of South Berwick, Maine, Roger C. Wass of Bridgewater and Ralph K. Wass of New Hampshire, two brothers, Robert Wass of Duxbury and Melvin “Bud” Wass of Avon, six granddaughters, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Leo Marges, 88, of Bridgewater, died on Thursday at home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Albina “Binka” (Lukasiewicz) Marges for 62 years. He was born in Brockton on November 1, 1915, a son of the late Charles and Annie (Balchunas) Marges. He was graduated from Brockton High School in 1933 and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He resided in Bridgewater for many years. He was a welder and machinist for many years at Fore River General Dynamics in Quincy, then he was employed in maintenance at MCI Bridgewater until retirement. He was a member of the Polish Club in Bridgewater and loved nature, enjoying fishing and landscape gardening. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Fred Marges of Bridgewater and Theodore Marges of Mattapoisett, a sister Albina Orlosky of North Abington, four grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Robert Webber Quinn, 40, of New Bedford, formerly of Brockton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at St. Luke’ Hospital in New Bedford. He was born on December 16, 1963 in Brockton, a son of Marion (Webber) Quinn of Brockton and the late William Quinn Sr. He graduated from Brockton High School and has resided in New Bedford for many years. He has been employed by Titleist of Acushnet since 1995 and was working second shift as an autobuff operator. He was an avid golfer and member of the Titleist Golf Team. John A. “Jack” Healy, 97, of Halifax Mobile Home Estates in Halifax, died on Monday evening at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary (Bedard) Healy. He was born on October 3, 1907 in East Boston, a son of the late John and Mabel (Middleton) Healy and was raised there. He was employed as a shipfitter for many years for Fore River-Bethlehem Steel Shipyard prior to retirement. He resided in Dorchester and in Brockton for 15 years prior to moving to Halifax in 1973. He was a communicant of St. Edward Church in Brockton and Our Lady of the Lake Church in Halifax. He was an avid pool player and also enjoyed bowling. He is survived by a daughter M. Jacqueline Rogerson of Brockton, a son Robert A. Healy of Wareham, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Edward, Joseph, Thomas, Mary and Anna Healy. David L. Williams, 46, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died on Tuesday after a lengthy illness. He was born in Brockton on April 20, 1958, a son of Aubrey and Mary (Morse) Williams of Brockton. He was formerly employed by Crescent Leather and Montello Heel. He loved to draw, enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, making model cars and traveling to Iowa. William J. “Jake” Jacobs, 58, of Plymouth, died on Sunday night at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Gloria J. (Dunner) Jacobs for 39 years. He was born in Boston on December 10, 1946, a son of the late Anthony F. and Lillian M. (Lincoln) Jacobs, and was raised in Roxbury. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. For over thirty years he was employed in trucking with Teamsters Union Local 25 until retirement. He had resided in Brockton for many years, in Canton for eight years and in Plymouth for the past four years. He was a member of Polish White Eagles in Brockton and had enjoyed spending time at Montello Gardens in Brockton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Tammy Jacobs of Abington, William Jacobs Jr. of Abington, Darlene Jacobs of Plymouth, Kimberly Lee of Abington and Anthony Jacobs of Boston, sixteen grandchildren, a brother Anthony “Tom” Jacobs of Weymouth, nieces and nephews. Betty (Ratcliffe) Woodward, 84, of Avon, died unexpectedly on Tuesday at home. She was the wife of the late Herbert Woodward. She was born in England on June 16, 1920, a daughter of the late Fred and Lily (Smith) Ratcliffe and was raised there where she ran looms in textile mills. She came to this country in 1952 to Pawtucket, Rhode Island and then to Avon in 1957 where she has since resided. She was employed as a bookkeeper at A & P in Brockton for many years prior to retirement. She was a member of the Polish White Eagles and formerly a member of the Lithuanian Citizens Club in the Village section of Brockton and she enjoyed knitting. She is survived by a son Stephen Woodward of North Easton, a daughter-in-law, two granddaughters, a sister Nellie Smith of England, nieces and nephews. He was born on July 8, 1954 in Brockton, son of June M. (Ripley) Pickett of Easton and the late Edgar R. Pickett and he graduated from Brockton High School. He was a lifelong resident of Brockton until moving to Middleboro 13 years ago. He was employed as supervisor of maintenance at Boston Brace in Avon for over twenty years. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed camping and going to flea markets. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Candace Peper of Middleboro, a grandson, nephews, a niece, aunts and several cousins. Her funeral will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton followed by burial at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

Julian Szwedko, 54, of Brockton, died on Tuesday night at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on September 12, 1950 in Poland, son of the late Peter and Felicja (Okscin) Szwedko and has resided in Brockton for over 30 years. He was a meatcutter and was employed at various local markets and more recently at Costco. He also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by brothers and sisters, Chester Szwedko of Brockton, Felicja Bartnik of East Bridgewater, Maria Bester, Jadwiga Zygmunt, Irene Sabina and George Szwedko, all of Brockton, nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Jeffrey and Janina Szwedko. His funeral will be on Saturday at 8 a.m from Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Church and burial at Calvary Cemetery.

Louis G. Dimitri, Sr., 72, of Brockton, died on Tuesday in Boston. He was born in Boston. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by five children: Lisa J. Hurley, Louis G. Dimitri, Jr., Edward A. Dimitri, Thomas A. Dmitri and Mark J. Dimitri, all of Marshfield and nine grandchildren. He was brother of the late Robert G. Dimitri. A private family funeral was held and burial will be at a later date at Melrose Cemetery.
