Kuphal, Joan K. (Caroto)
Kuphal, Joan K. (Caroto), of South Yarmouth died September 16th at the age of 77 years.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Josephine (DeVito) Caroto.
Mrs. Kuphal was a long time resident of South Yarmouth and loved the ocean and beaches of Cape Cod.
Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Gentile of South Yarmouth; a brother, Joseph Caroto Jr. of Norwood; a niece, Cindy Smith of Norwood; a nephew, Gerald Caroto of Canton; and an aunt, Lucy Devito of Woburn.
Friends and relatives are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 21 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouthport.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Kuphal’s memory may be made to the Cape Cod Hospital Mugar Cancer Center, 27 Park St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Driscoll, Arthur B.
Driscoll, Arthur B., of South Yarmouth, died on Friday, September 17 after a brief illness. Born in Boston and raised in Arlington, he graduated from Arlington High School and Boston College. He received a master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts. He served in the U.S.Navy from 1953 – 1955.
Mr. Driscoll is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth (Muse) Driscoll and his six children; Kathleen Eckert (Bob), Jayne Burke (Dennis), Arthur Driscoll (Diane), Anne Ferro (Mark), Eileen LePain, and Susan Julian (Mark); 16 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; his brother, Francis Driscoll (Ellie) and his sister, Joan Bench (the late William).

A memorial service will be held at the Dennis Union Church, Route 6A, Dennis, MA on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.

Hoyt, Constance K.
Hoyt, Constance K., 82, died Sunday in Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth under Hospice Care, after a long illness. She was the wife of E. Donald Hoyt for over 60 years.
Mrs. Hoyt was born in Melrose and raised in Worcester. She was a graduate of Classical High School and attended Bradford Jr. College. After her marriage in l943 Mrs. Hoyt lived in Southbridge, MA, Petersberg, VA, and the Worcester, MA area until moving to Cape Cod in 1982.
She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and a volunteer at Cape Cod Hospital for over 10 years. She was an avid golfer and liked needle work, bridge and reading.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, E. Donald Hoyt Jr. and a daughter in law, Sandra L. Hoyt of South Yarmouth, a granddaughter Dawn D. Hoyt of Beverly, a grandson, Scott M. Hoyt and a great grandson, Cristian T. Hoyt, both of Cranston, RI. She is also survived by a sister, Carolyn K. Dik of Worcester, MA.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 1:30 P. M. at the Dennis Union Church, Route 6A, Dennis, MA. Burial will be private.

Mouradian, Margaret
Mouradian, Margaret , 83 of South Yarmouth, died Sunday Feb. 8 at the Windsor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth after a long illness with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Watertown, Miss. Mouradian was raised and educated in Roxbury. During World War II, she was a USO hostess in the greater Boston area. Miss Mouradian worked for many years as a payroll clerk for the Pudential Life Insurance Co. in Boston. She moved to Cape Cod in the mid 1960’s.
Miss. Mouradian is survived by a brother, Ary Mouradian of Deerfield Beach, FL; three sisters, Ann Smith of Detroit, MI, Teresa Vela of West Yarmouth and Rose Conduris of South Yarmouth and Boca Raton, FL; a brother in-law and her caregiver, George Conduris of South Yarmouth and Boca Raton, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Barnes, Flora M. (Crocker)
Barnes, Flora M. (Crocker) , 103 of Dennisport, died Saturday Feb. 7 at Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in South Dennis. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Barnes.
Born and raised and educated in East Bridgewater, Mrs. Barnes graduated from East Bridgewater High School and attended Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. Mrs. Barnes worked for the S.S. Pierce Co., as a secretary, prior to her marriage in 1928. She lived in Brockton for many years and was an active member at the South Congregational Church. After spending many summers at Robbins Pond in North Harwich, Mrs. Barnes moved permanently to Dennisport in 1963. While on Cape Cod, Mrs. Barnes was a member of the First Congregational Church of Harwich and a founding member of the Unity Church of the Light.
Her father, Joseph Crocker, was related to William Crocker who came to America with the Rev. John Lothrop and settled in Barnstable in the 1600’s. Her mother, Elizabeth (Congdon) Crocker, was a descendant of Benjamin Congdon, who helped establish a colony in Warwick, RI in the days of Roger Williams.
Mrs. Barnes, with her late husband, ran a successful jam and jelly business from their home. Her marmalades appeared in many Cape Cod gift shops and stores and throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
An avid reader, Mrs. Barnes was an acknowledged expert on Cape Cod history. She enjoyed playing scrabble, cooking, the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by a son, Charles W. Barnes, Jr. of Ellington, CT; a daughter, June Saline of West Harwich; a grandson, Christopher Barnes of Harwich; a granddaughter, Susan Connors of West Yarmouth; six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph and two sisters, Ada Crocker and Emily Garland.
Funeral services will be private.

Haskell, Ruth G. (Harris)
Haskell, Ruth G. (Harris), 81 of Yarmouthport, MA, died Saturday Feb. 7 at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John “Pete” Haskell, who died Dec. 23, 2003.
Born in Boston, Mrs. Haskell was a graduate of Colby Jr. College and worked as a secretary in Boston. After her marriage in 1951, she raised her family while living in Milton and Longmeadow. In 1980 she and her late husband retired to Norwich, VT and then to Hendersonville, NC before recently moving to Yarmouthport.
Mrs. Haskell is survived by two daughters, Nancy Magnussen and her husband Donald of Duxbury and Wendy Haskell and her husband Peter Dickow of Grand Rapids, MI; a son, Richard Haskell of South Burlington, VT; five grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
Visiting hours for both Mr. and Mrs. Haskell will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday Feb. 14 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.
Interment will be private.

Foss, Deborah Ann (Willbanks)
Foss, Deborah Ann (Willbanks), 57, on February 4th at her residence in Yarmouth Port. She was the beloved wife of Barry M. Foss. Mrs. Foss was born in Quincy and was a graduate of Harwich High School and Cape Cod Community College. She had worked at Oliver’s Restaurant in Yarmouth for the last 19 years. She had been active in the West Point Parent’s Club, Y-D Hockey and with the D-Y Band Parents. She was an avid reader and also involved in a number of informal groups such as the Red Hat Ladies. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons; Jeffrey S. Foss of Los Angeles, CA and Captain Andrew M. Foss, US Army, who is stationed at Ft. Stewart. GA, a brother Jeffrey L.Willbanks of Marshfield and two nieces Allison and Amy Willbanks. A funeral will be held at 10 AM Tuesday in Cape Cod Covenant Church, Satucket Road, Brewster. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday from 3 – 6 PM at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. Burial will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to Yarmouth Firefighter’s and Relief Assoc., Inc., Rescue Fund, 96 Old Main St., S. Yarmouth, MA 02664.

Doppman, Mary Louise (Downey)
Doppman, Mary Louise (Downey), 92, of South Yarmouth on Feburary 13th. She was the wife of the late John Leo Doppman. Mrs. Doppman was born in New Bedford and was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Bryant Business School in Providence. She worked as a secretary at the Springfield Armory and at Otis Air Force Base. She was a resident of Springfield before moving to S. Yarmouth in 1956. She was an avid golfer and former member of the Bass River Golf Course. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Mrs. Doppman was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Catherine Hartman of Shrewsbury, a brother Daniel Downey of S. Dennis, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a stepson, Dr. John L. Doppman of Washington , DC. Calling hours are 3-6 PM Monday in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. A funeral will form at 9 AM Tuesday from the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM in St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford at 1 PM Tuesday. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES), John L. Kightlinger, Fred. M., Jr.
Kightlinger, Fred. M., Jr. , 77 of Dennis, MA and formerly Holden, MA, died Saturday Feb. 14 at the Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in South Dennis, MA. He was the husband of Pauline (Fischer) Kightlinger for 51 years.
Born, raised and educated in Oil City, PA, Mr. Kightlinger was a graduate of Oil City High School. After high school, Mr. Kightlinger served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of technician third grade.
Upon returning from the Army, Mr. Kightlinger graduated from Penn State University in 1951 and married in 1952. He began his professional career as a service engineer for the Riley Stoker Corp. in Worcester, MA and traveled extensively for the company. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Kightlinger lived in Holden, MA from 1958 until moving to Dennis in 1994. He was a member of the Dennis Union Church. He enjoyed reading, golfing, being a handyman, doing carpentry work, and spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kightlinger is survived by a son, Mark F. Kightlinger of Arlington, VA; a daughter, Lisa C. Kightlinger of McLean, VA; and two grandchildren Christopher and Karolena Salmon, both of McLean, VA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday Feb. 20 in the Dennis Union Church, 713 Rte. 6A, Dennis.

Bearse, Joyce M. (Ellis)
Bearse, Joyce M. (Ellis), 72 of Dennis, died Monday Feb. 16 at Cape Cod Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Henry F. Bearse, who died in 1990.
Born, raised and educated in Dennis, Mrs. Bearse was a graduate of Yarmouth High School, where she played basketball.
Mrs. Bearse worked for several years as an operator for the New England Telephone Co. She also worked as an Avon representative in the Mid-Cape area.
An avid gardener, Mrs. Bearse also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, knitting, cooking and birdwatching. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing and playing country & western music on the guitar.
Mrs. Bearse is survived by two sons, Dale Bearse of Tarpon Springs, FL and Henry F. Bearse, Jr. of Bushnell, FL; a daughter, Mary Bearse of Dennis; six brothers, Kenneth, John, Jack, Roy, David and Peter Ellis; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.

Bates, Margery (Malnati)
Bates, Margery (Malnati), 90, of Harwich Port died February 14th following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert Bates. The daughter of Louis and Rose (Hahn) Malnati, Mrs. Bates was born in Quincy and was a graduate of North Quincy High School. As a young woman she worked as a shoe model for Last Manufacturing and traveled throughout New England. During WWII she volunteered at Fore River Naval Shipyard in Quincy. An engaging personality, Mrs. Bates loved meeting people and worked as a salesperson for a variety of companies including Rimmer’s Relief Printing of Boston and Phillip Morris. She also worked for Filene’s, Jordan Marsh, and Gem stores. In the 1950s she and her husband owned and operated the Bass River Hardware Store. She also worked as an ad representative for the original Cape Cod Guide. A resident of Harwich Port since 1977, Mrs. Bates worked at Dearborn’s Corner Card Gallery for 14 years, retiring in 1993. She had a great sense of humor, a keen wit, and enjoyed keeping up with current events. She was happiest spending time with her family and enjoyed reading and crafts. She is survived by two daughters, Pattyann Milligan of Jacksonville, Florida, Nancy Louise Manning of West Roxbury,
14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her son Richard Bates. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, S. Yarmouth, followed by a committal service at Island Pond Cemetery, Harwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, 68 Route 134, S. Dennis, MA 02660.

Jaworowski, Katherine E. (Koncur)
Jaworowski, Katherine E. (Koncur), died February 15 at EPOCH Senior Healthcare, Brewster at the age of 93. She was the wife of the late Bronislaus R. Jaworowski.
Mrs. Jaworowski was born in NYC, growing up in Ozone Park, Queens, NY and attended a local catholic high school. She lived in Queens for 88 years moving to Dennisport in March l998. She retired 23 years ago from the Greater NY Fund United Way in NYC. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, Harwich. She loved to listen to books on tape because she was legally blind.
Mrs. Jaworowski is survived by two daughters, Amelia Marcin of Dennisport and Marion Jaworowski of Forest Hills, NY.
A Funeral Mass will be held on February 19 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Church, Route 28, Harwich. Friends and family are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth from 9:00A.M. on Thursday prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis, MA.

Myland, Ejner Christian
Myland, Ejner Christian, of Dennis on February 16 at the age of 82. Husband of the late Dawn (Hallett) Myland and father of Christopher Myland of South Dennis, David Myland of West Dennis, Deborah Rosa of Mashpee and Susan Myland. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth on Tuesday, February 24 from 5-7 P.M. A. memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 25 at 11:00 A.M. at the Northside United Methodist Church, Airline Rd., Brewster, MA. Burial will be private. Contributions in his memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Cape Cod and the Islands Chapter, P. O. Box 953, Barnstable, MA 02630 or to Beacon Hospice, 259 Willow St., Yarmouthport, MA 02675.
