Amy Naomi (Robare) Likens, of Pelham, died Saturday June 7, in the Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Former owner of the Amity Beauty Shop in Amherst from 1962 to 1981. In addition to survivors listed in her obituary she leaves her caregiver Dennis O'Brien. A granddaughter, Michelle Bryant died in 1972 and a grandson Patrick Farmer died in 1982. There will be no services, burial will be in North Valley Cemetery Amherst. The AMHERST FUNERAL HOME, 151 Amity St., Amherst is in charge of arrangements.

SALAME
Of Templeton, Gladys I. (Couillard) Salame, 61, Templeton Selectman and Templeton's First Woman Selectman, passed away in her home, 255 Barre Road, on Saturday, June 7, 2003. She was born on January 23, 1942 in Gardner, MA, daughter of the late Roger P. Couillard and Norman (Fucile) Couillard, and had been a lifelong resident of Templeton. Mrs. Salame was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School, Class of 1960, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Fitchburg State College in 1964, a master of Education Degree from Fitchburg State College in 1975, and possessed 90 college credits in Education beyond the Master's Degree. She was a third grade teacher for 22 years, and a Title one teacher for 16 years. She planned on retiring this year. She was Director of Title One/Chapter One for 16 years. Nominated Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 1992. Member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Montachusett Employment and Training Program for 6 years, member of the Templeton Board of Health for three years, first female member of the Templeton Police Department for two years, member of the Templeton Advisory Committee, and of the Narragansett Regional School Building Committee and President of the Narragansett District Education Association for nine years. She was Director of the Narragansett Regional School District Even Start Program and Grant Writer for the Narragansett Regional School District. Mrs. Salame was Chairman of the Templeton Arts and Crafts Festival for 26 years, raising $250,000 in scholarship money for local students. Mrs. Salame was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in East Templeton. Mr. and Mrs. Salame were married on October 31, 1965. She is survived by her husband, Stephen E. Salame, a son, Stephen E. Salame II, both of Templeton, her mother Norma (Fucile) Couillard of Templeton, two grandsons, Anthony J. Salame of South Royalston, Shayne Salame of Templeton, a granddaughter, Tabitha Salame of Templeton, a brother, George J. Couillard of East Templeton, a sister, Nancy Henshaw of West Chesterfield, many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, from the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon Street, Gardner, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., East Templeton. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton. CALLING HOURS AT THE FUNERAL HOME WILL BE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2003 FROM 4PM-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gladys I. WARD
Of South Hadley, Rev. Philip H., 90, former longtime Amherst resident, died Friday. Husband of Frances Brown Allen Ward. Husband of the late Helen B. Ward. Father of James B. Ward and Sarah W. Neusius, and the late Mary C. Ward. Brother of Paul L. and Richard S. Ward and Esther W. Easton, and the late Eleanor Bogle. Grandfather of four. Uncle of several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held with a Memorial Service to be at 3pm, June 21st, in the First Congregational Church of Amherst. THERE ARE NO CALLING HOURS. Of West Barnstable, June 6, Oliver J. 'Oli' Brassard. Husband of Florence C. (Cooper). Father of Laurie Kincaid of Westfield, Carole Darigan of Warwick, RI and Roberta Brassard of Long Valley, NJ. Also survived by 7 Grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Hope Chapel, Route 6A, West Barnstable, on Monday June 9, at 11:30am. MORIN
Mrs. Gertrude T. (McLean) Morin, 84, formerly of Clark Street in Holyoke, died on Tuesday at the Heritage Hall West in Agawam. Before her retirement she was employed as an assembler at the T.R.W. Co. formerly known as the Holyoke Wire and Cable Co. in South Hadley. She was born in Holyoke on July 12, 1918 the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Thibault) McLean. She was a lifelong resident of Holyoke. She was a longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke, and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society of the Church. She was the widow of Leofred M. Morin who died on March 12, 1997. She leaves two daughters, Joan C. Renaud and her husband Normand Renaud of Granby, and Marilyn J. Woods and her husband Douglas Woods of Exeter, New Hampshire. One brother Bernard McLean of Westfield and two sisters, Diane Lariviere of Holyoke, and Jeanne Achin of North Attleboro, MA. Four grandchildren, Brian Wood, Gary Wood, Deanna Wood, and Michele Courchesne. Two great grandchildren, Joshua Carpenter and Robert Courchesne. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning at 9:45am from the ARTHUR J. BRUNELLE FUNERAL HOME at 811 Chicopee in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in the Immaculate Conception Church at 52 North Summer St. in Holyoke. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery in Aldenville. VISITING HOURS AT THE FUNERAL HOME WILL BE ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 4PM UNTIL 8PM. LEYDEN
Merchantville, New Jersey - Eleanor M. (Gillespie), 76, of Merchantville, New Jersey passed away Tuesday at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania of Acute Mylomic Leukemia. She was born in New York City on August 29, 1906 the daughter of the late Anthony and Lillian (Corrigan) Gillespie. She was raised in New Jersey, graduating from William L. Dickinson High School there. Eleanor lived her life in Jersey City, NJ, Portage, MI, Albany, NY and Merchantville, NJ. She was employed at Mueller's, General Motors in Michigan and Drexel Burham Lambert on Wall Street. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales RC Church in Albany, New York. Friendship meant the world to Eleanor and she was blessed with many dear friends. She leaves her daughter and son in law Linda and Ken Linden of Merchantville, NJ, her best friend and sister Eileen B. Zozulia of New Jersey and her sister in law, Eleanor Gillespie of Hatfield, MA as well as several nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis R. Leyden and brother, Anthony Gillespie of Hatfield. Funeral services will be Monday morning from the CZELUSNIAK FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON at 8am with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Joseph's Church, followed by burial in Main Street Cemetery, all in Hatfield, MA. RELATIVES AND FRIENDS MAY CALL ON SUNDAY JUNE 8 FROM 2PM-6PM AT THE CZELUSNIAK FUNERAL HOME, 173 North St. Northampton, MA. Of Easthampton, June 4, 2003, Muriel (Nielsen) Kerr Gilbert of Florence Rd. and formerly of Blackberry Lane, Northampton. Wife for 57 years of H. William Gilbert. Mother of Christina G. Miller and Linda G. Emerson. Grandmother of Scott Nielsen Miller, Garrett William Emerson and Christina Emerson Corvello. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11am at the Edwards Church, 297 Main St., Northampton. Of Merchantville, New Jersey, June 3, Eleanor M. (Gillespie) Leyden. STONE
Christopher D. Stone, 29, of 35 Banbury Lane, died June 2 in Templeton. He leaves his parents, David H. and Gail S. (Alves) Stone of Gill; two brothers, Matthew D. Stone of Attleboro, Andrew M. Stone of Worcester; two grandmothers, Olive Stone of Greenfield, and Naomi Alves of Greenfield; three sisters in law, Sarah Stone of Attleboro, Yvette L. Dudek of Palmer, and Yvonne L. Kilmer of San Jose, CA; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Duke and Max. He was born in Montague and raised in South Deerfield, later lived three years in Worcester before moving to Holden in July. Mr. Stone graduated from Frontier Regional High School, South Deerfield in 1991 where he played football and won the All-League Center Award in 1990. He later graduated from Greenfield Community College, Greenfield, and in 1988, Magna Cum Laude, from Northeastern University, Boston with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, and the Criminal Justice Honor Society at Northeastern University. Mr. Stone was a senior investigator for TJX Company in Framingham where he worked for five years. Previously, he worked for Pyramid Security Company and was the acting director of security at the Hampshire Mall, Hadley. He enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod with his wife and family, playing paintball, guitar, piano and chess as well as camping. He was always creative, joyful and could always make people laugh. His jokes were the highlight of every family holiday and he will be missed greatly. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 1pm, Saturday, June 7 in Faith Baptist Church, 331 Silver St., Greenfield. Burial will be private. SZEPELAK
Geraldine (Roberts) Szepelak, 82, of South Street, Northampton, died Monday June 2, in Linda Manor Nursing Home Northampton. She was born in Monroe, LA, March 7, 1921. She attended schools in Monroe then graduated from the University of Louisiana. She came to the area in 1947 settling in Easthampton. She graduated from the Cooley Dickinson School of Nursing and was employed by the Hospital before acquiring a position with the Holyoke Soldiers Home retiring several years ago. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Easthampton. She was the widow of Bernard Szepelak who died in 1994. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Shirley Szepelak of Easthampton, Michael Szepelak of San Diego, CA; 3 daughters, Evelyn Holland of Northampton, Roni LaBarge of Monson, Sharon Szepelak of Port Charlotte, FL; 3 sisters Dorothy, Frances, and Rosemary; and 3 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 10am in the MITCHELL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Park St, followed by burial in Brookside Cemetery, all of Easthampton. FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE FUNERAL HOME WEDNESDAY 5PM-8PM. Gifts in her memory may be made to Hospice/VNA Alliance of Hampshire County, 168 Industrial Dr., Northampton, MA 01060.

TROMBLEY
Helen C. (Benoit) (Weir) Trombley, 60, of Easthampton died Monday in Northampton. Her first huband Robert J. Weir died in 1977. She leaves her children Lillian W. Rochan, Francis J., Robert J. and Thomas P. Weir. Her former husband Robert Trombley. She was the sister of M. Kathleen Yusko, Frederick and Joseph C. Benoit, and niece of Helen Sullivan. 10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A brother Robert Benoit died earlier this year. Funeral services will be held Friday 9am from the O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10am at the Immaculate Conception Church, both are in Easthampton. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. CALLING HOURS WILL BE HELD THURSDAY 2pm-4pm, 7pm-9pm.

Easthampton, Cecile Lillian (Barre) Cote, age 59, of 47 Campbell Drive, died on Sunday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. A 16 year employee in the Housekeeping Dept. at Smith College. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Charles E. Cote. She was a beloved mother and grandmother to her son Brian K. Cote of Billerica; daughter Brenda M. (Cote) Gendron of Easthampton: Daniel, Alison, Nicholas and Emly Cote: Justin, Nathaniel and Noah Gendron; beloved mother- in-law to Ronald Gendron Jr. and Pamela (Cross) Cote. Sister to Donald Barre of Chicopee, Robert Barre of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ruth Johnson of Holyoke, Annette Shepard of Orlando, Florida and Irene Plante of West Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 5 at 10am at the Easthampton Christian Center, 285 East St. Burial will follow at the East Street Cemetery.
