Joseph L. Devaney

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 for Mr. Joseph L. Devaney. Mr. Devaney was born in Watertown, a son of the late Dennis and Ida Devaney. He grew up in Watertown and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School. Mr. Devaney served in the Army during World War 2. He had been employed for over 30 years as a Wharehouse Manager with the Sears Roebuck Company in Allston. He was a founding member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians A.O.H. Divison #14 in Watertown, a late member of the Knights of Columbus K of C, Watertown Council #155 and the D.A.V., Watertown. Mr. Devaney had been a lifelong resident of Watertown. He died on Sunday May 20, 2007 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood at the age of 89.

He was the husband of the late Anne T. (O’Hare); father of Joseph L.Devaney, Jr. of Naperville, IL, John D. Devaneyof Belton, MO, Kevin G. Devaney of Brighton, Richard A. Devaney of Norwood, Anne M. Bilodeau of Milton and Maribeth Stacey of Millis. He was also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great grandson. He was the brother of the late Helen Sines and Mary Kelly.

Funeral Services will be held from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown on Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St. Watertown, MA 02472 at 9 o’clock. Interment will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours on Tuesday, from 4-8 PM.

Contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to the above named church.

Jean A. Brackett

A Funeral Mass for Jean Ann (LaRose) Brackett, 76, will be celebrated on Thursday, May 24, 2007, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.

Mrs. Brackett was born in Watertown, a daughter of Joseph and Rose (White) LaRose. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and a lifelong Watertown resident. Mrs. Brackett,also a lifelong member of Saint Patrick Parish, sang in the church choir and in the musical cantata "Resurrection" as a member of St. Patrick’s Family Players.

Mrs. Brackett was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking and ceramics. She died on Monday, May 21, 2007, in Caritas-St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Boston.

She leaves four sons: George E. Brackett and his wife Karen of Groton, John “Jocko” Brackett and his wife Beverlee of Watertown, Norman C. Brackett and his wife Judith of North Reading, and Richard J. Brackett and his wife Laurie of Watertown; a brother, James LaRose of Brandon, Miss.; and 13 grandchidren.

Wife for 51 years of the late Jack Brackett who died in February 2004, she was also the sister of the late Joseph LaRose, Jr., Mary McDowell, Rose Caloggero, Anna Vacca, Albert LaRose, Helen Bagarella, Viola Grasso, John LaRose, and Rita Bitsoli.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 o'clock in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 23rd from 5-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Family Players, 26RChesnut St., Watertown, MA. 02472.

Robert J. McDonough, Sr.

A Funeral Mass for Robert James McDonough, Sr., 83, will be celebrated on Saturday morning, May 26, 2007, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.

Mr. McDonough was born in Boston, a son of Patrick J. and Elizabeth (Parsons) McDonough. He was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and has lived in Watertown for the past 59 years. Mr. McDonough, a clerk for the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 1066 in Boston for 44 years until his retirement in 1985, was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Tomas Cardinal O’Fiaich Division 14 in Watertown. He died on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in the Caritas-St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Boston.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary A. (Downey) McDonough; five children: Robert J. McDonough, Jr. and his wife Judith of Lexington, Stephen J. McDonough and his wife Patricia of Medford, James P. McDonough and his wife Christine of Marstons Mills, Virginia M. McDonough of Watertown and Maura L. Emery and her husband Paul of Watertown; a brother, James McDonough of Falmouth; and 8 grandchildren: Candice, Robert and Caitlin McDonough, Meghan and Andrew McDonough, Catherine and Patrick McDonough and Elizabeth Emery; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late Mary McDonough and brother of the late Lillian Cox and William McDonough.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Saturday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o'clock in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.

Calling hours will be on Friday, May 25th from 4-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.

Charles J. Gallagher

A Funeral Mass for Charles Joseph Gallagher, 81, will be celebrated on Friday, June 1, 2007, at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton.

Mr. Gallagher was born in Watertown, a son of Dennis C. and Delia (McGee) Gallagher. He was a graduate of Saint Patrick High School, Watertown, and received an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston. During World War II, he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army and received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon.

Mr. Gallagher, a retired Superintendent in the construction industry, was a member of the Carpenters Union, Local 275 in Newton. He enjoyed duck hunting, boating, reading, and above all carpentry. He has resided in Newton for the past 57 years. Mr. Gallagher died at the Wingate of Needham, on Wednesday, May 30, 2007.

He was the husband for 57 years of Mary T. (Gildea) Gallagher; father of Mary K. Gallagher of Newton, Sheila M. Gallagher of Edmonton, Alb., Canada, and Charles V. Gallagher of Newton; brother of Beatrice Hilton of Lexington Edward J. Gallagher of Newton, Theresa Fitzpatrick of Watertown and the late Rita Barker.

A visiting hour will be held on Friday morning, June 1st from 9-10 o’clock in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown. Interment will be in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Watertown, following the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in Our Lady’s Church.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Barry L. Price Rehab. Center, 38 Border St., Newton, MA. 02465.

Loris M. Mason

Loris M. Mason, 89, of Danvers, formerly of Watertown. Passed June 4, 2007 at the Hunt Nursing Home in Danvers of pancreatic cancer.

Born in Medford, a daughter of the late Clarence and Agnes (Bryden) Stewart.

She moved to Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School.

Loris moved to Watertown in the 1940’s. She was a loyal member of the Phillips Congregational Church in Watertown where she served as a deaconess, a Sunday school teacher and active in many church capacities.

Late member O.E.S. Watertown Chapter.

She was the wife of 53 years to the late Walter H. Mason, Jr. Mother of MSGT. Norman W Mason, U.S.A.F. (Ret.) of Danvers.

Sister of the late Velma Dolley, Robert Stewart and Eileen Tamburino.

Dear friend of Lee and Tinny Moffett of Bedford and Peggy MacLeod of Watertown.

Loris moved to Danvers in 1988.

She leaves many dear friends at the Danvers Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bridge for many years.

She was a loving friend to all who knew her and her positive outlook and beautiful spirit will live on in all those lives she touched.

She will be missed by so many, but we are happy in the knowledge that she is with the Lord in that heavenly home that each of us hopes to gain one day.

A Funeral service will be held in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Thursday at 12:00 P.M with the Reverend Robert Asinger officiating.

Visitation prior to the service at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Loris’s memory either to the Hospice of North Shore, 10 Elm St. or the Danvers Senior Center, 25 Stone St. Danvers, MA 01923. would be appreciated.

Ann C. McAteer

Funeral Services will be held on Monday June 11, 2007 for Ms. Ann C, McAteer. Ms. McAteer was born in Boston, a daughter of the late Peter and Delia (Gannon) McAteer. She grew up in Watertown, attended St. Patrick Grammar School and graduated from Watertown High School. She has been a lifelong Watertown resident. She had been employed for many years with the Merchants Bank of Boston. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Parish in Watertown and for many years was a member of the parish B.V.M. Sodality. Ms. McAteer died on Thursday June 7, 2007 at The Leland Home in Waltham at the age of 89.

She was the sister of the late Mary E. McAteer and Agnes P. McAteer and is survived by her cousins: Mary T. Keenan of Watertown, Elizabeth A. Quinn of Peabody, Joan L. Clifford of Foxborough and Thomas McAteer of Charlestown.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 A.M. in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M.

Contributions may be made in Ann’s memory to the Catholic TV Center, 34 Chestnut St., Watertown, MA 02472.
