Carol E. (Bixby) Callahan

A Funeral Mass for Carol Elizabeth (Bixby) Callahan, 80, will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in the Church of Saint Luke, Belmont.
Mrs. Callahan, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Blanche M. (Bishop) Bixby was born in Boston. She was a lifelong resident of Waltham and a graduate of Mount Trinity Academy, Watertown. Mrs. Callahan enjoyed music and studied voice and piano at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. She was a homemaker and, in addition, assisted her husband, a podiatrist, at his office in Waltham. She died on Thursday, June 4, 2009, in the Kindred Hospital, Boston, after a brief illness.
She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. James D. Callahan, DPM; devoted mother of John F. Callahan of Beaverton, Ore., Kathleen C. Bardsley of Westborough, Carolyn M. Callahan of Boston, Daniel J. Callahan of Amherst, NH, Dr. James Callahan of Kittery Point, Maine, Kevin Callahan of Deltona, FL., Paul B. Callahan of Wakefield, Brian Callahan of Arlington, Mary C. Gros of Medford and the late Joseph D. Callahan; loving sister Bruce Bixby and his wife Jane Bixby of Locust Grove, VA; dear sister in-law of Mary Callahan of Osterville, formerly of Watertown, Virginia Sullivan and her husband John Sullivan of Osterville; also loved by 17 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a niece.
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Tuesday at 8:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 am in the Church of Saint Luke, 132 Lexington St., Belmont.
Calling hours will be on Monday, June 8th from 4-8:00 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.

Robert J. Rooney

A Funeral Mass for Mr. Robert J. Rooney will be held on Friday June 19th in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main Street Watertown at 9 AM. Mr. Rooney died on Monday June 15th at his home with his family by his side.
Mr. Rooney was born & raised in Watertown before moving to Waltham twenty-two years ago. He was a Veteran of Korea, US Army. Mr. Rooney was a Union Painter with Local #1963, he served as a business representative with local #1963. A member of the Newton Elks # 1327, & the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division # 14 Watertown.
Robert was the beloved husband of the late Margaret P. (Feeney). Loving father of William P. & Robert J. Jr. both of Newton, James C. of Waltham, Sharon A. Falvey of Lancaster & Kevin P. of Watertown. Devoted brother of Donald Rooney of Hampton, NH & the late Reginald, Corrine Cashin & Barbara Collins. Also loved by 11 grandchildren.

Kathleen M. (Godinho) Swift

A Funeral Mass for Kathleen Marie (Godinho) Swift, 49, will be celebrated on Friday, June 19, 2009, in the Church of Saint Luke, Belmont.
Mrs. Swift was born in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School. She has lived in Watertown for the past 24 years. Mrs. Swift's main focus in life was her two sons. She also deeply loved her extended family, the outdoors, walking and caring for children. She died suddenly on Sunday, June 14, 2009, in Sudbury.
She was the devoted mother of Edward Swift and Michael J. Swift both of Watertown; beloved daughter of Robert E. Godinho of Cambridge and Joan M. (Theriault) Williams of Middleburg, Fla; dear sister of Roberta A. Harvey of Brockton, Rose Godinho of Maynard and Laurie Clark of Arlington; and godmother to Todd Clark, Jr.
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in Watertown Square at 6 Riverside St. (crnr. No. Beacon St.), Watertown on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Church of Saint Luke, 132 Lexington St., Belmont. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.

Lucille B. (LaPlant) McMahon

A Funeral Service will be held Friday July 2, 2010 in the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut St. Newton, MA 02459 at 10 AM for Lucille B. (LaPlant) McMahon, who passed away June 29 in the South Shore Hospital, Weymouth. Age 82.
Mrs. McMahon was a daughter of the late John & Frances (Libby) LaPlant. She was born in Greenville, Maine and graduated with high honors from Brunswick High School, Brunswick, Maine. She attended Bates College in Maine, took time off to travel across the country, moved to Boston, and enrolled at Boston University and graduated with a BA. She received a Masters Degree in Education (specializing in reading) from Northeastern University. She was a retired teacher in the Boston Public Schools.
She also served in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC)
She was Passionate about politics, loved great literature – Mark Twain & Jane Austin were among her favorites. She had an incessant intellectual curiosity and was genuinely interested in the rest of the world, and was very well informed about current events. She could talk (knowledgably) about many subjects – science, politics, religion and world affairs.
A wonderful cook, celebrated for her apple pie.
She loved the beach and the ocean, and spent many a summer at Rexhame Beach in Marshfield, MA.
She loved to travel, Europe, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Cuba (in the 1950’s) and Mexico were among some of the places she visited.
She loved her Azalea bush and appreciated all beautiful flowers . She was a member of the Garden Club. Lucille loved music. From Mozart to the Boston Pops, Nat King Cole to Sarah Brightman.
She was the beloved wife of the late William J., Jr. Loving mother of William J. and his wife Susan of Scituate & Kimberly J. of Norwood. Dear sister of Charline Oelfke of Shirley and John LaPlant of Harwich Port. Loving grandmother of Devin, Conor & Katy.
A Funeral will be held in the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut St., Newton, MA 02459 Friday at 10 AM, followed by interment in the family lot. Relatives & friends kindly invited. Visiting hours in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Thursday from 4-8 PM.

William H. Hubbard
A Funeral Mass for William Henry Hubbard, 90, will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mr. Hubbard, a son of the late James F. and Emily F. (Wogan) Hubbard, was born in Watertown. A graduate of Watertown High School in Massachusetts and the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, he furthered his education in business at the Harvard University Extension School.
During World War II, he served in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate Flight Engineer. He was with the Patrol Bombing Squad. #211 and the HEDRON 14-1 Flight Air Wing-14 and was honorably discharged at the end of the war.
For many years he was a procurement specialist at the Watertown Arsenal (Army Materials and Research Center) in Watertown until his retirement in June of 1973. In 1969 he moved to Harwich Port from Watertown. Mr. Hubbard was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Harwich Port and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2578 in Hyannis and enjoyed playing golf. He died on Thursday, July 8, 2010, in the Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the beloved husband for 64 years of the late Elizabeth A. “Bette” (Kennedy) Hubbard who died in May 2009; devoted father of Charles R. Hubbard and his wife Pegeen Wright of Belmont and the late Cpl. Ronald J. Hubbard (USMC); loving grandfather of Julie Hubbard, Jeffrey Hubbard and Molly Hubbard; and dear brother of Barbara Chandnoit of Natick and the late James F. Hubbard and Marguerite E. Kennedy.
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o'clock in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.

Mary C. (Hackett) Morse
A Funeral Mass for Mary Catherine (Hackett) Morse, 89, will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mrs. Morse, a daughter of the late J. Edward and Elizabeth (Travers) Hackett, was born in Scituate, MA. She grew up in Arlington, graduated from Saint Agnes Grammar School and Arlington High School. Mrs. Morse became a hair stylist and owned her own beauty shop, Mary’s Hair Salon, in the South End of Boston. In addition to her love for her family, she loved plants, cooking and animals. Mrs. Morse moved to Watertown 21 years ago from Arlington. She died at her residence on Sunday, July 11, 2010.
She was the beloved wife for 56 years of the late Charles H. Morse who died in March of 2004; devoted mother of Eileen Pettingill of Reading, PA, Peg Dorsi and her husband Jim of Watertown, Ken and his wife Linda of Boxborough, Jeanne Christofono of Weymouth, David and his wife Mary Ellen of Sherborn and Patsy Boccelli and her husband Paul of Grantham, NH; dear sister of Elizabeth Raymond of Gardner and the late William Hackett. She was also loved by 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
