Dorothy Mussman

Dorothy Mussman, 88, of Bedford, a resident since 1990, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the Carleton Willard Village. She was the wife of the late Harry V. Mussman.

Born in Holland, Mich. on May 21, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Josephine (Wunsch) Walinder. She graduated from high school in Chicago. Before moving to Bedford she lived in Wheaton, Ill.

While in Bedford she was a member of the Bedford COA. and the Golden Ages and was also affiliated with the First Church of Christ Congregational of Bedford,

She is survived by her son Harry E. Mussman and his wife Libby of Bedford; two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at the Carleton Willard Village, 106 Old Billerica Road, Bedford, today, June 7 at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ Congregational 25 Great Rd. Bedford, MA 01730.

Arrangements are by the Bedford Funeral Home.

Patricia A. Thorburn

HARPSWELL, Maine - Patricia A. Thorburn, 76, of Thorburn Cottages Road, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Parkview Hospital. She was the wife of Robert Thorburn.

Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late Charles Addison and Dorothy Dibble Loan Fisher. She attended the Winthrop schools and graduated from Winthrop High School. She attended Burdett Business School in Boston and studied piano at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. During World War II she worked for a company that helped detect submarine signals in the water.

Mrs. Thorburn lived in Needham and Stow where she was choir director of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Upon retirement she moved with her husband to Harpswell where she also volunteered at Mid-Coast Hospital in Brunswick. She had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed playing piano. She was also an expert seamstress and needleworker as well as an avid reader and gardener.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Nancy D. Thorburn of Winthrop and Victoria R. Patenaude of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, Stanley B. Thorburn of Norwich, Conn.; a sister, Martha Flynn of Sandwich; a brother, Robert Fisher of Port Chester, Wash. and a grandson.

A memorial service was held June 1 at the Elijah Kellogg Church, Harpswell Center, with the Rev. James Henry officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Harpswell.

Arrangements were under the direction of Stetson's Funeral Home, Brunswick.

Benjamin David Crepeau, infant, of Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY - The many relatives and friends of David B. and Donna M. (Day) Crepeau, of Tewksbury, will be saddened to learn of the death of their infant son, Benjamin David Crepeau, at birth on Sunday, May 27, 2001, at the Winchester Hospital.

Besides his parents, he is survived by maternal grandparents, Frank and Marie (Leger) Day of Ayer, formerly of Arlington; paternal grandfather, John Crepeau of Belmont; aunts and uncles, Brian and Terry (Rano) Day of Northbridge, Brenda and Wil Rolfe of Ayer, Brian and Robin (Grigsby) Crepeau of California, Diane Crepeau of Oklahoma, and many great aunts, great uncles, and cousins. He was also grandson of the late Barbara (King) Crepeau who died in 2000.

Private funeral services will be held in Belmont.

Arrangements are through the Tewksbury Funeral Home.

Dorothy C. Dattilo, 68, leaves family in Tewksbury

WINCHESTER — Dorothy C. (O'Brien) Dattilo, 68, of Winchester, formerly of Lynn and Navarre, Fla., died Monday, June 4, 2001 at Life Care Center in Stoneham. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Dattilo.

Born in Lynn she attended the Lynn public schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. She was a Winchester resident for 30 years and a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Dattilo is survived by three sons, Frank J. Dattilo of Stoneham and Daniel T. and Thomas E. Dattilo, both of Derry, N.H.; two daughters, Robyn LaFleur of Wareham and Debra Miara of Tewksbury; 11 grandchildren; a brother, William O'Brien of Lynn and a sister-in-law, Louise O'Brien of Peabody. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward O'Brien.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, June 8, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Winchester. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research, Mass. Chapter, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.

Lane Funeral Home, Winchester, is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald E. Kelley, 68, formerly of Wilmington

TEWKSBURY — Ronald E. Kelley, 68, formerly of Wilmington, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria E. (Huntington) Kelley.

He was born in Limestone, Maine, the son of Carrie (Green) Kelley of New Brunswick, Canada, and the late Walter Kelley.

A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the Army attaining the rank of corporal.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Kelley was employed as a shipper and receiver for the E.M. Parker Medical Supply Co. in Wilmington for 19 years.

Before moving to Tewksbury, he lived in Wilmington for more than 30 years.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Ronald Kelley of Pelham, N.H., and Paul Kelley and his fiancée Wendy Cobb of Auburn, N.H.; a daughter, Karen Moore and her husband Barry of Tewksbury; two granddaughters; and a nephew. He was also the brother of the late Fern Kaizer of Wilmington.

A funeral was held June 2, from the W.S. Cavanaugh & Son Funeral Home in Wilmington. Interment was in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Arthur L. Largenton Jr., 77, leaves family in Wilmington

ARLINGTON — Arthur Leo Largenton Jr., 77, of Arlington, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at home. He was the husband of Ellen (Hughes) Largenton.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Arthur Leo and Nora C. (Connolly) Largenton Sr. He was employed for 33 years with the Cambridge Fire Department as a lieutenant with Ladder 4, on Sherman Street. He lived in Cambridge for 20 years before moving to Arlington 55 years ago. A World War II Army veteran, he was a Purple Heart recipient.

Mr. Largenton was treasurer of the Firefighters Union and a trustee of the Credit Union. He was also a member of the Huron Ave. V.F.W. and the Retired Men's Club of Arlington.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by three sons, James F. Largenton of Wilmington, Arthur L. Largenton III of Somerville and Robert J. Largenton of Arlington; a daughter, Martha Morabito of Medford; a sister, Claire E. Conrad of Tewksbury; two cousins, Sr. Helen Hart, S.S.J. of Connecticut and Sr. Virginia Sammett O.P. of St. Agnes Church and Cambridge; a friend, Joe Leary; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death a sister, Mary Poirier.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, May 30 at St. Agnes Church in Arlington. Burial followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements wee under the direction of Keefe Funeral Home, Arlington.

Willard B. Simmons, 80, of Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY - Willard B. Simmons, 80, of Tewksbury, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Charlotte (Peabody) Simmons.

Born in Lewiston, Maine, Oct. 7, 1920, he was the son of the late Jesse M. and Phylinda (Upton) Simmons. He was raised in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School. He attended Emerson College in Boson and graduated in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in literary interpretation. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, honorably discharged Sept. 14, 1948 after achieving rank of sergeant. He was an active member and past deacon of the Tewksbury Congregational Church. He also volunteered with the church Sunday School and youth groups.

Before moving to Tewksbury in 1957 he lived in Boston. Prior to retirement he was employed as a salesperson by various companies including the Langley Corp. of Medford. He was a volunteer at the Phoenix House of Tewksbury. He enjoyed gardening and letter writing.

Besides his wife with whom he would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary June 6, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lucy A. and Anthony C. Pelleriti of Lowell; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Richard E. Simmons and Clara A. Small.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 2 at the Tewksbury Congregational Church. Burial will be held at a later date at the Tewksbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Cancer Center at Saints Memorial Medical Center, 2 Hospital Drive, Lowell, MA 01852.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, Tewksbury.

Evelyn Miller

CHELMSFORD - Evelyn "Joyce" (Gordon) Miller, 88, formerly of Billerica, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford where she had resided for the past three years. Her first husband, William O'Brien died many years ago. Her second husband, Walter Miller died in 1983.

Born in Argyle, Wisc., she lived most of her life in Billerica.

Mrs. Miller is survived by three daughters, Sheila Malcolm of Maynard, Anne Howard of Burlington and Margaret O'Brien of Chelmsford; a son, Chris Miller of Portsmouth, N.H.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late William O'Brien and Patricia O'Brien.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today, May 31 in St. Bridget's Church, Percival and Sudbury streets, Maynard. There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Sunny Acres Nursing Home, 254 Billerica Road, Chelmsford MA 01824.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, Maynard.

George E. Murphy

MAYNARD — George E. Murphy, 85, died June 3, 2001, at the Marlborough Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Skeffington) Murphy.

He was born and raised in Maynard, the son of the late Albert R. and Alice A. (Murphy) Murphy. Mr. Murphy graduated from Maynard High School in 1933, and later served in the U.S. Navy in Great Britain during World War II.

He and his brother Albert, were the former co-owners of Murphy & Snyder Printing Inc. in Maynard, a family business now in its third generation.

Mr. Murphy moved from Maynard to Marlborough in 1970, and later retired after more than 70 years in the printing business. In 1989, he and his wife, became the innkeepers of the Chocksett Inn in Sterling.

He is survived by a son, Dennis Murphy of Maynard; a daughter, Janice Troisi of Sterling; a brother, Albert R. Murphy Jr. of Maynard; a sister, Patricia Sewall of Colorado; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Bryan and Kevyn Murphy, and the brother of the late Raymond Murphy and Eleanor Pileeki.

A funeral Mass was celebrated June 7, in St. Bridget Church in Maynard. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.

Arrangements were under the care of the Martin & Doran Funeral Home, Maynard.

Gertrude Schneider

METHUEN - Gertrude A. (Abriatis) Schneider, 74, of Methuen, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Lawrence General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raymond L. Schneider.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. she worked as manager of the Rugged Bear Clothing Store in Andover. She was a member of St. Lucy's Church in Methuen and enjoyed her work and her family.

Mrs. Schneider is survived by two sons, Raymond Schneider of Emporium, Pa., and William and his wife Donna Schneider of Tewksbury; a daughter, Sally, wife of Kenneth Heffron of North Andover; a sister, Selma Abriatis of Methuen; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in St. Anne's Cemetery, Castle Shannon, Pa.
