Enis ``Enie" (Larson) Almquist of Easton died Thursday.

Ms. Almquist is survived by her husband, Harland F. ``Harley" of Eaton; two daughters, Priscilla Olsen of Warwick, N.Y., and Karin Bell of Campton, N.H.; a son, Frederick of Orland, Maine; a sister, Agnes Wiedermann of Easton; and four grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Holy Trinity Church, Easton.

William F. Cannon, 76, Arlington's timekeeper
Arlington

Saturday, December 4, 1999

William F. Cannon of Arlington, timekeeper for the town of Arlington, died Friday at Pine Knoll Nursing Home in Lexington. He was 76.

Born in Boston, Mr. Cannon worked for the payroll department at Harvard University for 14 years and as a timekeeper - storekeeper for the town of Arlington for 25 years. He lived in Arlington for 44 years and in Cambridge for 34 years.

Mr. Cannon was a life member of American Legion Post 39 and a member of the Knights of Columbus 109 in Arlington, the Irish American Club of Arlington and the Arlington Retired Men's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor of Arlington; four daughters, Barbara Murphy of Malden, Denise Castle of Medford, Susan M. of Lexington and Cynthia Borogna of Woburn; two sons, Michael F. of Arlington and William J. of Burlington, and nine grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church, Arlington.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

Arrangements by Keefe Funeral Home, Arlington.

Joseph Concannon, at 60, Globe sportswriter
Brighton

Friday, February 18, 2000

Joseph P. Concannon of Litchfield, Conn., and Brighton, a Boston Globe sportswriter, died Wednesday in his home. He was 60.

Born in Hartford, Conn., Mr. Concannon graduated from Boston University in 1961 with a degree in political science.

He served in the Army after graudation and in the reserves until 1967.

Mr. Concannon joined the Globe in 1966 after working as a sports information assistant at Harvard and Holy Cross. He wrote about golf, track and field, college sports, the Boston Marathon, the Head of the Charles Regatta and the New York City Marathon.

In 1986, Mr. Concannon won numerous awards including first prize in the Golf Writers of America contest for an article about Jack Nicklaus. He was recognized with Joe Concannon Day in New London, Conn., in 1986 and Litchfield in 1996.

Mr. Concannon was founder of the Litchfield Hills Road Race, wrote a book on running and frequently traveled to Australia.

He leaves no immediate family.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Litchfield.

Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

William B. Coughlin, at 46, led Chamber of Commerce
Brookline

Wednesday, January 26, 2000

William B. Coughlin of Brookline, formerly of Dorchester, president of the Boston Public Library Foundation and former head of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, died Saturday at his home. He was 46.

``Bill will be remembered always for the leadership he demonstrated at our organization, and in the broader community, which he served so well throughout his career," said Paul Guzzi, president and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. ``He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and by all who benefited from his work."

Born in Dorchester, Mr. Coughlin graduated from Boston Latin School and Harvard University, where he received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in public administration.

After graduation, he became a sports reporter at WBZ - TV Channel 4 and was promoted to assignment editor at the age of 23. By the time he left WBZ, he was weekend sports anchor.

Mr. Coughlin left journalism for politics, serving as assessing commissioner under Mayor Raymond L. Flynn. He was appointed parks commissioner and oversaw the renovation of the park system. He enjoyed working with Boston teens in his position as parks commissioner, the job he considered most fun, according to his wife, Francine Achbar.

Boston's business community chose him to represent their interests during the planning of the Central Artery project by appointing him to head the Artery Business Committee.

In 1992, Mr. Coughlin was selected as the new head of the Chamber of Commerce.

In 1995, he left the Chamber of Commerce to serve as senior vice president of public affairs for the Weber Group, a high - tech public relations firm.

He next served as a government relations liaison for the Pine Street Inn, generating government funding for shelter and job - training programs for the homeless.

Most recently, Mr. Coughlin was president of the Boston Public Library Foundation, a position he assumed last September.

He was a huge sports fan and loved the Red Sox.

He is survived by his wife, Francine Achbar; two daughters, Jessica and Amy, both of Brookline; his mother, Mary (Cusack) of Dorchester; two brothers, Robert M. of Lakeville and Edward J. of Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Diane M. Weir of Dorchester and Eileen Howe of Annapolis, Md.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Ann's Church, Neponset.

Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Peter Diamantakiou, 43, a store owner
Marblehead

Saturday, April 24, 1999

Peter J. Diamantakiou of Marblehead, a convenience store owner, died unexpectedly Monday at New England Medical Center in Boston. He was 43.

Born and raised in Lynn, he graduated from Lynn Classical High School, where he served as vice president of the senior class.

Mr. Diamantakiou lived in Marblehead for the past 12 years.

He was the owner and operator of the White Hen Pantry in Marblehead for the past 25 years.

Mr. Diamantakiou is survived by his parents, Lambros O. and Tina (Manolis) of Lynn; a sister, Effie M. Acres of Marblehead; two aunts; and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Solimine Landergan and Rhodes Funeral Home, Lynn.

Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.

Francis `Frank' Fay, 83, railroad clerk
Cambridge

Thursday, March 2, 2000

Francis ``Frank" Fay of Cambridge, a B & M Railroad clerk, died Monday at his home. He was 83.

Born in Cambridge, Mr. Fay served in the Army during World War II.

He was employed as a clerk by the former B & M Railroad for more than 40 years.

Husband of the late Katherine (Walsh), Mr. Fay is survived by two sons, Gerald F. of Whitinsville and William of Cambridge; a daughter, Catherine of Cambridge; and six grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge.

Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery.

Catherine Flynn, 75, a receptionist
Needham

Wednesday, September 22, 1999

Catherine K. (Kelleher) Flynn of Needham, a retired receptionist, died Sunday at Faulkner Hospital. She was 75.

Born in Boston, Mrs. Flynn had been a resident of Needham since 1953.

She was employed as a receptionist for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's office in Boston for 17 years, retiring in 1994.

Mrs. Flynn is survived by her husband, John J. of Needham; two daughters, Nancy F. Harrington of Needham and Maura F. Walley of Nashua, N.H.; and three nieces.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. Bartholomew's Church, Needham.

Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Lisa M. Fucile, 33, teacher
Holbrook

Saturday, January 1, 2000

Lisa M. Fucile of Holbrook and Santa Monica, Calif., a teacher, died at home Monday. She was 33.

Born in Stoughton, Ms. Fucile grew up in Holbrook and graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., with a master's degree in early childhood education.

She had worked as a preschool teacher in California for the past three years.

Ms. Fucile is survived by her parents, John S. and Patricia A. (Hudson) of Holbrook; two sisters, Anita Cole of Taunton and Jeanine of Randolph; her grandparents, John C. and Theresa of Randolph and Iva M. Hudson, also of Randolph; an aunt and an uncle.

A funeral Mass was celebrated yesterday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree.

Burial was private.
