Jean B. Tweedy, 76

Morristown, N.J. - Jean B. Tweedy, 76, died December 26, 1997 at Morristown Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the wife of Renwick S. Tweedy, who died in 1996.

Born in Providence, R.I, she was a graduate of the Master's School and Rhode Island School of Design.
Mrs. Tweedy lived in Palm Beach, Fla., from 1959 to 1976 and was a former member of the board of trustees at Palm Beach Day School. She recently maintained other homes in Wianno, Mass., and Vero Beach, Fla.

She was a member of the Vincent Club of Boston and the Museum of Fine Arts, where she had also done extensive volunteer work.

An avid golfer, she also enjoyed her memberships in the Country Club of Brookline, Mass., the Riomar Country Club, Vero Beach and the Wianno Club of Osterville. She was also a member of Trinity Church, Concord, Mass., where she was active in the Altar Guild.

Surviving are four daughters, Chapman Barley Greeley of Centerville, Rebecca Bailey Perry of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jean Bailey Hynes of Dedham, Mass,, and Hillary Bailey Smith of Far Hills, NJ.; a sister, Marguerite B. Wheeler of Brookline, Mass.; two brothers, Joseph J. BodeIl and Stanley C. Bodell, both of Providence, R.I.; her stepchildren, Ann B. Tweedy and Renwick S. Tweedy Jr., both of Acton, Mass.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held January 2 in the chapel of Trinity Episcopal Church, Concord. Burial was at a later date, in the memorial garden of St. Peters Episcopal Church, Osterville.

Rita Marie Vacher-Camara, 79

Pawtucket, R.I. - Funeral services were held December 27, 1997 in Pawtucket for Rita Marie Vacher Camara, 79, who died December 23, 1997 at her son's home in South Attleboro, Mass., after a one-month illness.

She was the widow of Roland Vacher and Everett Camara.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a communicant of Saint Cecilia's Church and past president of its women's club.

She was also a member of St. Patrick's Senior Citizens Card Group and past president of the Kennedy Senior Citizens Housing Association.

Surviving are five sons, Raymond Vacher of South Attleboro, Robert Vacher of Hyannis, Ronald Vacher of North Ardeboro, Mass., Richard Vacher of Central Falls and Roland Vacher of Stuart, Fla.; three daughters, Gloria Johnson of Pawtucket, Jacqueline Lowell of Barnstable and Denise Hawes of Osterville; three sisters, Lillian Costa and Claire Moreau, both of Pawtucket, and Gertrude Wahl of Cumberland; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Harold F. Wittenmeyer, Jr., 71

Barnstable Harold F. Wittenmeyer, Jr., 71, a retired carpenter and World War II veteran, died January 1, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

He was the husband of Marion (Crowell) Wittenmeyer.

A native of Cape Cod, he lived in Barnstable for the past 40 years. He worked as a cerpenter for various contractors, retiring in 1991.

Mr. Wittenmeyer served in the Army Air Force during world War II. He and his wife had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Joseph Wittenmeyer of West Barnstable, paul Wittenmeyer of Barnstable, and Danny Wittenmeyer of Cotuit; a daughter, Bonnie Wittenmeyer of West Yarmouth; a brother, Joseph Wittenmeyer of Hyannis; two sisters, Priscilla Cotter of Centerville and Barbara Gerrior of Barnstable; six grandchildren and a greatgrandchild.

A graveside service was held January 5 in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Truman C. "Joe" Crowner, Jr., 80

Hyannis - Truman C. "Joe" Crowner, Jr., 80, a World War II veteran, died January 31, 1998 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

He was born in Stoneham and educated in Newton. He served in Europe with the Army Air Corps in World War II.

He was a Hyannis resident since 1959, working on many Cape Cod fishing boats and was the chief engineer on the Siasconset from 1959 to 1972. Mr. Crowner was a gun enthusiast and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his son, Donald R. Crowner of Carver; stepsons William Petrucci of Bridgewater and Wayne Petrucci of Hyannis; a stepdaughter, Janis Carlson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Benjamin T. and Brittany E. Crowner, both of Carver.

The funeral and burial were private.

George E. Drew, 81

Centerville - George E. Drew, 81, a former business owner and World War II veteran, died January 28, 1998 at his home in Centerville.

He was the husband of the late Edith M. (Cash) Drew.

Born in Hyannis, he was educated in Barnstable schools and was a lifelong resident of the Town of Barnstable. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Philippines.

He was the coowner, along with his brothers, of Baxter Transportation Trucking Co. in Hyannis until his retirement 16 years ago. After his retirement, he worked for Midway Garage in Osterville, retiring four years ago.

Mr. Drew was a member of the Hyannis Lodge of Elks and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hyannis. He was an avid shellfisherman and sports fan, especially enjoying baseball and football.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet M. Dragunas of Braintree and Joanne E. Drew of Osterville; three brothers, Kenneth Drew of Marstons Mills, Donald Drew of Barnstable and Ithal "Junior" Drew of Hyannis; a sister, Barbara Perry of Hyannis; and many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews.

A graveside service was held February 2, 1998 in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Doris Rotatori, 84

Hyannis - Doris (Ferris) Rotatori, 84, a retired licensed practical nurse, died unexpectedly January 29, 1998 at her Hyannis home.

She was the wife of the late Thomas Russell.

Born in Pasquoag, R.I., she graduated from Woonsocket High School and the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a nurse at Kaiser Hospital in Honolulu and Scripps Hospital in San Diego before moving to Cape Cod in the
1960s. She was a nurse at Cape Cod Hospital for more than 25 years, retiring in the early 1980s.

After her formal retirement, she worked as a private duty nurse. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.

She enjoyed quilting, traveling and writing poetry.

Surviving are two sons, Jon Rotatori Sr. of North Smithfield, R.I. and Thomas Russell of California; two daughters, Marjorie Autio of Braintree and Judith Simcoe of Calfornia; 15 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren and a greatgreatgrandson.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated February 2 at St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial was private.

Elizabeth Wright, 79

Hyannis - Elizabeth "Terry" Wright, 79, a retired high school teacher, died January 30, 1998 in the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Facility Pavilion after a brief illness.

Miss Wright was born in Lynn. She received her teaching degree from Nasson College, Springvale, Maine.

She was a home economics teacher in Barnstable High School for more than 25 years before retiring in 1978.

Miss Wright is survived by her brother and sisterinlaw, Calvin and Barbara Wright of Lynnfield and several nieces and nephews.

A service was held February 4 at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis. Burial was private.

Frances Brown, 86

West Dennis - Frances (Willing) Brown, 86, a longtime resident of West Dennis, died February 5, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, of respiratory disease.

She was the wife of Kirkwood B. Brown, who died in 1983.

Born in Waban, she attended Newton public schools and graduated from Dana Hall Prep School. While in her 20s, she and a friend opened The Book Stall, a bookstore in Newton.

Mrs. Brown lived in West Dennis for 52 years. She was past president and secretary of the Thursday Evening Circle in West Dennis; the children's librarian at the West Dennis Library; and Sunday school superintendent and a teacher at the West Dennis Community Church.

She worked with the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary, Dennis Branch, and was a member of the Dennis Pines Women's Golf League, South Dennis.

Mrs. Brown enjoyed gardening, golf, playing the organ and knitting.

Surviving are two daughters, Gail B. Yacuzzo of Northampton and Elizabeth Cook of Osterville; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held February 11 at the West Dennis Community Church. Burial was private.

David J. Calhoun, 90

Plymouth - David J. Calhoun, 90, a former building contractor, died February 8, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

He was the husband of Ruth M. (Orcutt) Calhoun.

Born and educated in South Boston, he was a resident of the Cedarville section of Plymouth since 1948, moving from Milton. He was a self-employed building contractor.

Mr. Calhoun was a member of the St. Bonaventure Council, Knights of Columbus.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, David H. Calhoun of Plymouth; three daughters, Marjorie Jackson of Plymouth, Grace Calhoun of Marstons Mills and Nancy Clarke of Cotuit; two sisters, Lillian Martin of Quincy and Dorothy Helms of Millis; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held February 11 at the Cartmell Funeral Home in Plymouth, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bonaventure Church, Manomet. Burial was in Cedarville Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
