Ethel Louise (Fritz) Moir, 82, a resident of Norwood since 1950

NORWOOD - Ethel Louise (Fritz) Moir, 82, a resident of Norwood since 1950, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Caritas Norwood Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the wife of David Moir Jr.

Born in Natick, she was employed as a bookkeeper for the Wellesley National Bank in Wellesley.

Besides her husband, she leaves her daughter, Susan Perry and her husband, Jack of Norwood and her grandson, Jared Perry of Richmond, Va.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 1, at 2 p.m., at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols St., Norwood.

Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Justine Verderber, 87, of Norwood

NORWOOD - Justine Verderber, 87, of Norwood, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Charlwell House Nursing Home.

Born in Norwood and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Sophie (Eppich) and John Verderber. She attended Norwood schools and was a homemaker.

She leaves her siblings, Emma Verderber, Carl Verderber and Sophie Verderber, all of Norwood; niece, Janet Olson Haberlin of Norwood; and great - niece and great - nephews, Deborah Beauregard, Michael Haberlin and Joseph Haberlin, all of Norwood.

She was the sister of the late John Verderber, Edward Verderber, Adolph Verderber and Helen Olson.

All services are private.

Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Janet A. McIver, 80

Friday, August 2, 2002

NEEDHAM - Janet A. McIver, 80, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Deaconess - Glover Hospital in Needham.

She was the wife of the late Frederick H. McIver.

She was the daughter of the late Salim N. Ayoub and (Moseley) Anjou.

She leaves her children, Frederick J. McIver of Greenfield, formerly of Westwood and John McIver of Marblehead, formerly of Westwood; siblings, Elizabeth Asadoorian of Methuen, Christine Ayoub of West Roxbury, Joseph Ayoub of Florida, formerly of West Roxbury; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also sister of the late John, George, Nicholas and William Ayoub.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, August 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., at St. John of Damascus Church, Dedham, corner of routes 135 and 128, exit 17.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 3, at 10 a.m. Father John Teebagy will officiate.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the John S. Ayoub Memorial Fund, c/o St. John of Damascus Church, 300 West St., Dedham or go to website www.stjohnd.org.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Carroll - Thomas Funeral Home, Hyde Park.

Sister Dorothy Walsh, 87, o.s.u., of the Ursuline Convent in Dedham

DEDHAM - Sister Dorothy Walsh, 87, o.s.u., of the Ursuline Convent in Dedham, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Elizabeth Seton Residence of Wellesley.

Born in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of the late J. Edward and Dora Walsh Berktold Walsh.

She entered the Ursuline Order in 1932 and pronounced her final vows at Grand Concourse, Bronx, N.Y., in 1938. She graduated from Fordham University, Bronx, N.Y., for her bachelor's degree and Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass., for her master's degree.

As Mother Reparata, sister was a loved and esteemed teacher at Ursuline Academy in the Bronx, Ursuline Academy in Boston, at Mount Merici in Waterville, Maine, St. Ignatius High in Stanford, Maine, and at Ursuline Academy in Dedham. She was always grateful for her years of teaching and for the inspiration and loyalty that her students gave her.

Besides her sisters in religious life, she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Gregory of Salem, N.H., Mrs. Genevieve Johnson from Louders Port, Pa., and Mrs. Rita Gregory of Shalimar, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass was held at Ursuline Convent Chapel in Dedham Monday, Oct. 14 at 9 a.m.

Burial will be at Mount Merici, Waterville, Maine.

Visiting hours at the Ursuline Convent in Dedham were Sunday, Oct. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ursuline Sisters Retirement Fund or to the Ursuline Academy in Dedham.

Arrangements are under the direction of George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home in Dedham.

Anna (Anastasia Drenas) Kampersol, 77, a 50 - year resident of Framingham

FRAMINGHAM - Anna (Anastasia Drenas) Kampersol, 77, a 50 - year resident of Framingham, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick, following complications after a long illness.

She was the former wife of Charles Kampersol.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Costa and Marika (Vergalas) Drenas.

She attended Greek schools while growing up and worked at Filene's distribution center in Natick for many years while living in Framingham. Because of declining health, she had recently moved to Milford to be with her daughter, Gloria Rabinowitz, who cared for her until her death.

She was a member of St. Tarcisius Church in Framingham.

She leaves two sons, John Kampersol and his wife, Lynda, of Norton and Thomas Kampersol and his wife, Lynn, of Berlin; two daughters, Joanne Davoren and her husband, John, of Natick and Gloria Rabinowitz and her husband, Steven, of Milford; a sister, Dorothy Nicholas and her husband, Mitchell, of Framingham; grandchildren, Michael Gallagher Jr., Deidra Gallagher, Erica, Amy, Erin and Ian Kampersol, Benjamin, David and Julie Rabinowitz; a sister - in - law, Laura Drenas of Marlborough; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Barbara Nistas and Peter and Andrew Drenas.

A funeral will be tomorrow, at 9 a.m., at the Wadsworth - Chiappini Funeral Home, 318 Union Ave., Framingham, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Tarcisius Church, Waverley Street (Rte. 135), Framingham.

Burial will follow at St. Tarcisius Cemetery.

Calling hours will be today, from 4 to 8 p.m.

There will be a celebration of life luncheon at noon at Sacred Heart Church, in the Bell Tower room in Milford.

Donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Middlesex County, 5 Mountain Road, Burlington, MA 01803.

Helen E. Earley, 88, a 40 - year resident of Norwood

NORWOOD - Helen E. Earley, 88, a 40 - year resident of Norwood, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at the Caritas Norwood Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was the daughter of the late William Gabriel and Mary Agnes (Medus) Earley.

Born in Boston, she was raised in the Roxbury section of the city in the neighborhood commonly referred to as "Tommy's Rock." She attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy.

She was employed at the Jamaica Plain Veteran's Administration Hospital for 38 years, retiring in 1976. She was the first secretary for the V.A. Hospital's Employee Credit Union. She was also a member of St. Joseph's Academy Alumni Association.

She leaves three sisters, Barbara M. Earley of Norwood, Mary E. Griffin of East Weymouth, and Dorothy J. Orecchio of Longmeadow; her nieces and nephews, Dt. Joan E. Tannenbaum, George B. Griffin, William T. Henehan and Atty. Margaret E. Henehan.

She was also the sister of the late Eleanor T. Earley, Catherine F. Judge and Adele A. Henehan.

A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15 at St. Timothy's Church in Norwood at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at the Earley family lot at Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.

Visiting hours are Sunday, Oct. 13 and Monday, Oct. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the P.E. Murray - George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., West Roxbury.

James B. "Jim" Fitzgerald, 82, formerly of Norwood

Monday, October 14, 2002

ROME, N.Y. - James B. "Jim" Fitzgerald, 82, of Rome, N.Y., died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, after a lengthy illness.

He was the husband of Masae Miyoshi.

Born in 1920 in Norwood, he was the son of the late John and Katherine Walsh Fitzgerald.

He was a graduate of Norwood High School, and married his wife in 1958 in Fukuoka, Japan.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army - Air Corps during World War II as a flight crew member. Following the war, he worked as a technical consultant at various locations throughout the U.S.

In 1970, he moved his family to Rome, N.Y., where he was employed with the 485th Engineering Installation Squadron at Griffiss Air Force Base, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of St. Peter's Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an ardent Democrat.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons and a daughter - in - law, Dr. James and Maureen Fitzgerald of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Dr. John M. Fitzgerald of Rochester, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Megan, Shannon, and Kaitlyn; two brothers, William and Joseph Fitzgerald of Mass.; one sister, Helen, of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Mary Fitzgerald, and brother, Joseph Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will take place at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home Inc., Rome, N.Y., on Monday, Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. and at St. Peter's Church at 9:30 a.m.

Visiting hours were Sunday, Oct. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Peter's Church Restoration Fund.
