SPENCER -- Jane I. (Marderosian) Goodrow, 54, of 25 Northwest Road, a retired secretary, died Wednesday, April 11, in Blaire House of Worcester after a long illness.

She leaves her husband of 34 years, Jefferey C. Goodrow Sr.; two sons, Jefferey C. Goodrow Jr. of Spencer and John F. Goodrow of Newburyport; her mother, Barbara (Krause) Gaudette of Chatham; a brother, Francis Marderosian of Spencer; a grandson; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Francis Marderosian, and moved here in 1966. She graduated from Commerce High School and with high honors from Quinsigamond Community College, both in Worcester.

Mrs. Goodrow was a secretary 10 years at G.F. Wright Steel and Wire Co., Worcester, retiring in 1990. She was a member of First Congregational Church, its choir and its Women's Fellowship.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in First Congregational Church, 205 Main St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research of Eastern Massachusetts, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140. J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, is directing arrangements.

Eleanor I. Jacques, 64

SUTTON -- Eleanor I. (Godbout) Jacques, 64, of 6 Morse Road, Manchaug, died Wednesday, April 11, at home after an illness.

Her husband, Joseph E. Jacques, died in 1975. She leaves two sons, Stephen J. and John E. Jacques, both of Manchaug; six daughters, Donna L., Lori A., and Traci L. Jacques, all of Manchaug, Debra J. Buma and Lynn A. Cone, both of Whitinsville, and Lisa M. Moran of Sutton; two brothers, including Raymond E. Godbout of Millbury; a sister, Peggy Lovejoy of Northbridge; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. A son, Michael J. Jacques of Millbury, died last year. A brother, John L. Godbout, and a sister, Joan E. Szczurko, predeceased her. She was born in Northbridge, daughter of Leo A. and Margaret (Jordan) Godbout, and moved to Manchaug from North Uxbridge 35 years ago. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1954.

Mrs. Jacques was a receptionist six years at the Northbridge Senior Center.

She was a member of the Northbridge Senior Citizens, and enjoyed bingo, cards, and puzzles.

The funeral will be held Friday, April 13, from Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas, with a Liturgy of the Word at 11:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Cross Street, Whitinsville. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery, 62 Manchaug Road, Douglas. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Mass. Affiliate, 1 Bromfield St., Boston, 02108.

Roger S. Bishop, 56

Wednesday, January 14, 1998

HOLDEN -- Roger S. Bishop, 56, of 402 Bullard St., died Monday at home after being stricken ill.

He leaves his wife of 36 years, Margaret I. (Jones) Bishop; four sons, Steven T., Kevin S., and Robert P. Bishop all of Holden, and Sean M. Bishop of Brekenridge, Colo.; two sisters, Susan Sulkoski of Worcester and Joan Duby of Leicester; many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Kenneth S. and Laura Belle (Dixon) Bishop, and lived here 35 years. He graduated from South High School in Worcester.

Mr. Bishop owned and operated Bishop Mechanical Contractors, Inc. of Holden for several years. Previously, he owned and operated Aamarc, a heating and air conditioning company in Worcester. He was a trustee of the Clinton Elks Lodge.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Scholarship Fund, Clinton Elks Lodge, 128 School St., Clinton, 01510.

Evelyn I. Bianchi

Monday, January 12, 1998

NEW YORK -- Evelyn I. Bianchi of 100-11 67th Road, Forest Hills, Queens, formerly of Worcester, was stricken ill and died Friday at home.

She leaves a sister, Dolores B. Joyce of Forest Hills; and several cousins. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John L. and Sarah (Josti) Bianchi, and lived many years in New York. She graduated from North High School in Worcester and Tufts University.

Miss Bianchi was an executive at Macy's Department Store for many years before she retired.

The funeral will be held Thursday from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lillian B. Brown, 90

Tuesday, January 9, 2001

BREWSTER -- Lillian B. (Reno) Brown, 90, of Brewster, formerly of Southbridge, died Monday, Jan. 8, in Barnstable.

Her husband, Robert Brown, predeceased her. She leaves a stepdaughter, Barbara Clements of Texas; two sisters, Lucille McKinstry and Georgette Bourdelais, both of Southbridge; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Richard and Charles Reno, and three sisters, Irene Hufault, Evyn Gadoury, and Odette McLaughlin, all predeceased her. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of Peter and Diana (Bastiena) Reno, and lived in Suitland, Md., and Southbridge before moving to Brewster in 1968.

Mrs. Brown was a manager of a housing complex, retiring in 1970. She enjoyed gardening.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, in Our Lady of the Cape Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Hamel, Wickens, & Troupe Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich. Donations may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Henry A. Bernier, 72

Wednesday, January 14, 1998

WORCESTER -- Henry A. Bernier, 72, of 11 Marble St., and formerly of Dawson Road, died Monday in Memorial Hospital after an illness.

He leaves a close friend, Donna Rolfsman of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, son of Henry H. and Philomena (Jolly) Bernier.

Mr. Bernier was a gun inspector at Harrington Richardson Co. for 19 years before retiring. He was a member of the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind and the Massachusetts Association for the Blind.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St. Burial will be at a later date in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., is directing arrangements.

Mary Rita Bell, 76, formerly of Shrewsbury, Worcester

WINDSOR, Conn. -- Mary Rita (Philbin) Bell, 76, of 97 Brookview Road, formerly of Worcester, Mass., and Shrewsbury, Mass., died Sunday in St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, after she was stricken ill at home.

She leaves her husband of 49 years, Gordon A. Bell; a son, Scott Bell of Berlin; a daughter, Elaine M.M. Bell of West Hartford; and three grandchildren. Born in Worcester, daughter of Thomas and Minnie (Barker) Philbin, she lived 19 years in Shrewsbury and 30 years in Windsor. She spent more than 50 summers in Martha's Vineyard. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1939 and Becker Junior College, now Becker College, in Worcester.

Mrs. Bell worked in the guidance office of the Loomis-Chaffee School, retiring in 1977. She was once a reporter for the Telegram & Gazette in Worcester.

The funeral will be held Thursday from Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel's Church, 379 Broad St. Burial will be in Palisado Cemetery. Calling hours are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.

Rev. Louis Beckford, 80

Monday, January 12, 1998

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- The Rev. Louis H. Beckford, 80, of South Portland, formerly of Worcester, a Methodist minister, died Saturday in Maine Medical Center, Portland, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Dec. 10 on Interstate 95 in Freeport.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Joan (McKim) Beckford; two sons, David Beckford of Charleston, S.C., and Peter Beckford of Clifton; three daughters, Martha Naber of Waterville, Nancy Minott of Bangor, Maine, and Rachel Beckford of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Mabel Monks of Worcester; and eight grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Lewis F. and Anna (Harrower) Beckford, and lived many years in Maine. He graduated from Commerce High School and Clark University in 1940, and earned a master's degree in theology from Boston University in 1949.

The Rev. Mr. Beckford was pastor of United Methodist churches in York, Gorham, Bangor, South Portland and Portland for many years before he retired. He was once district superintendent of the Northern District of the United Methodist Church.

He was an accomplished pianist and organist, and played the organ at several Worcester churches during his high school and college years. He also sang for many years in community groups.

The Rev. Mr. Beckford was a conscientious objector during World War II, serving for three years in civilian public service camps. As a teen-ager, he was voted out of his church for speaking up for a person who was not allowed to practice on the church organ.

He was a community volunteer for many years, especially serving the elderly.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Jan. 17 in Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, Chestnut Street, Portland. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Children's Hospital, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, care of First United Methodist Church, Ridgeland Street, South Portland, Maine 04106. Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, South Windham, is directing arrangements.

Pearl M. Beaulieu, 78

Tuesday, January 13, 1998

FITCHBURG -- Pearl M. (Prinn) Beaulieu, 78, formerly of 308 Charles St., died yesterday in Mariner Health Center after an illness.

She leaves two sons, the Rev. Peter Beaullieu, chaplin at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, and Michael Beaulieu of Fitchburg; three daughters, Sandra Grenache of Dennis Port, Marsha Haimila of Fitchburg and Barbara Keedwell of Middleboro; a sister, Sister Barbara Prinn of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fitchburg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Born in Graniteville, now Grandville, daughter of William and Drina (Gagnon) Prinn, she lived most of her life in Fitchburg.

Mrs. Beaulieu was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Immaculate Conception Church, 58 Walnut St., with her son as the principal celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1 Kendall Square, Building 200, Cambridge 02139. Lavery Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., is directing arrangements.

Corinne A. Beaudreau, 92

Wednesday, January 14, 1998

MARLBORO -- Corinne A. Beaudreau, 92, of 13 Monument Ave., a published poet and retired shoe company worker, died Monday in Marlboro Hospital after an illness.

She leaves many nieces and nephews, including Alfred A. Peloquin, Claire E. Grasso and Regina H. Troumpolas, all of Marlboro, and Julianna M. Ferriccio of Leominster; grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born in Marlboro, daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Lee) Beaudreau, and lived here all her life.

She worked for B.A. Corbin Shoe Co. for 43 years, retiring many years ago.

She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She was a published poet whose works have appeared in many literary journals and books under the name of Jean Bandi. She was also an accomplished artist.

The funeral will be held tomorrow from William R. Short Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours are 8 to 8:30 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
